The MoFo Performance List
Part 1: The Actor Nominations
Each MoFo puts together a list of 25 actors, alive or dead. These are your top actors who are your favourites, but most importantly the actors you think are the best. No mentioning of any of their performances yet though. This is just a list of 25 of your favourite actors and the actors you think are the best, there’s no actual ranking for these actors, like 1-25, it is quite simply 25 actors.
With there being sooo many actors out there, there should be a huge amount of actors nominated.
The Top 100 Most Nominated Actors, as nominated by you guys, will go into a list. Basically, the 100 actors who appeared the most, will make the cut.
Part 2: The Performance Nominations
This is to nominate your favourite performance for the actors that made the Top 100.
Basically, take that list of 100 actors, and type in next to them what you think is the best performance that actor ever did.
Some people may nominate, for instance, DiCaprio for The Revenant, others may say DiCaprio’s best performance was in Titanic and others may nominate DiCaprio’s performance in Inception, and so on.
The most nominated performance for each actor, will be the one that is used in part 3. For instance, DiCaprio’s The Revenant got 10 nominations, Titanic got 9 and Inception got 13, then Inception would be the performance that goes into part 3.
This means there will be a list of 100 Actors, and their most nominated performance.
Part 3: The Final Vote
The Top 100 Performances will then be voted on.
Basically, you MoFos will put them into an order, with your favourite performance in 1st, least favourite performance in 100th. 1st place gets 100 points, your 100th gets 1 point.
Then once everyone has had a go and sent in their order for the performances, the points will be counted up and the performance with the highest points will be #1, the lowest will be #100, making the MoFo Top 100 Performances Of All Time.

This is of course just to gauge interest and that stuff ^^ is just preliminary numbers, there'll also need to be a time limit, dates set etc. for sending in the 3 lots of lists and a load of input from you guys on how many actors we should have in Part 1 (25, 10, or however many).


There'll also need to be someone who is Excel efficient to help out as each actor will need their own Excel page for part 2 as one actor will likely get more than one performance nominated for them and they will all need to be tracked and accounted for.

Well, I just used 25 as a baseline. It can be 10... or could be 1000, if people wanted but I was just using the standard 25 as used in all the other lists we've done.

I like your idea Rodent:p and I would send in a list.

Like Camo said doing the favorite performance list is hard because we've all seen different stuff, so you can't really compare apples to apples, so you really wouldn't get good results from tallying the list.

Why not just make it a Top 100 Actor and Top 100 Actress...each MoFo sends in a ranked list of their 25 favorite actors and another list of their favorite 25 actresses. Then you can do 1 countdown that combines both list.

Before deciding anything you could do a sampler polling of people to see if the info you get is what you were expecting. Sort of a mock countdown, you get some list sent to you, but they're not official and just for your informational purposes.

One problem is that it can't be a top 100 performances list if we have to pick them from a certain select group of actors. My favorite performances are not all from my 25 favorite actors.

If this is favorite actors, I'll probably send in a list, but I think it might be too hard for me to pick my favorite performances. (Plus most of them probably wouldn't be on anyone else's list.)

If you want to be real ambitious, you can do top 100 actors and top 100 actresses, and do the countdowns simultaneously, followed by top 100 male performances and top 100 female performances, also run simultaneously. With performances, you could have the same actor appear multiple times.

That was my thinking behind having 3 parts to it.
Everyone puts in their 25... the 100 most nominated actors make the list, then in part 2 everyone goes for what they think are the best performances of those actors.


Might have to be lenient with the picks, like, with the other Top 100 movies lists, some people can only put up 20, or 15 etc. and spend a few weeks watching movies and getting ideas from other members about which 1960s movies to watch.


So, once the 100 are sorted for part 2, we can have a relatively decent schedule to give people time to see, for example, a few Tom Cruise movies or a few Cate Blanchet movies (or whoever they've not seen much of).

Just do what Gideon58 does -- if you really want the world to know your feelings about your favorite movie performances -- MAKE YOUR OWN LIST. Do your own countdown thread, like he does. He makes a new one everyday. Follow his lead and do what he does.

Back on topic: This seems like it would be quite a lot of work. To me it seems like it would make more sense to nominate which performances you like from the start. It just seems like a needlessly complicated step to select people's favourite actors first.

Well, the idea for this list is planted, but I'm going to back out tbh even though it was my idea.


If anyone else wants to take it on, fine tune it, whatever, go for it... but I've remembered how much hassle hosting a countdown is now that I've seen Omni's Action thread.
Brings up memories of the Comics Countdown back in 2014, don't think I could do that again tbh.

I can't even remember that. I know i sent a list but i can't remember the arguments. I do remember all the arguments with the Animation one though.

Anyway nobody would have a problem with this. The reason me this time and others in the Countdowns before have problems with the Major Countdowns (which the Comic one was) is because they only happen about twice a year. This is one that could easily run along with one of them. Hope you still do it.

Part 1 Of 2: Actor & Performance, The Nominations


Each MoFo puts together a list of 25 actors and actresses, alive or dead, and what you think is their best ever Performance.


These are your top actors and actresses… your favourites, and most importantly the actors and actresses you think are the best.


This is just a list of 25 of your favourite actors and actresses, along with your favourite performance they ever did… there’s no actual ranking for this, like a ranked 1-25 etc. This is quite simply just 25 of your favourite, your most admired and your most loved actors, and the performance you think is their best.


The performance must have been in a feature length movie, whether live action or a voice performance in a feature length animation. No TV performances or documentaries where they played themselves in an interview or whatever.


This is The Movie Forums Performances, so let’s keep it tied to acting performances in actual movies.


Please, please, please, with the list you send in, put the name of the actor/actress, the name of the character they played, and the name and date of the movie as well.


One hard ruling: You can only nominate an actor or actress once. That means you can’t nominate, for instance, Leonardo DiCaprio for The Revenant and also for Titanic, taking up two of your slots… you can only pick one performance for an actor.


Send your list to me in a Private Message.


Now, you are allowed to show your lists and ideas for what to nominate, because there isn’t any ranking system yet. This will allow you to help others who might struggle with remembering decent performances. I know that I for one will be watching out for ideas from others MoFos.

The most ambitious List ever created.


This part of the List will take place between October 1st and October 22nd, with me eyeing the start of November for the actual Countdown.


That 3 week period will allow for any slowcoaches to get and see any performances they haven’t yet.


I will start a second thread for Part 2 in October, so there shouldn’t be any confusion over who and what is in the Top 100.

Tell you what, Raul didn't have to do the 50s list, I didn't have to do the Comics, Harry didn't have to host lists either... but we did and do. I didn't have to share this idea of mine and do the man's share of the work.


In future when someone offers to put in huge amounts of hard work and effort coming up with a concept, doing the huge amount of Excel work to track the entries from what is possibly up to 30 or 40 people, then organising dates, times... all in the name of the forum and the entertainment of other movie fans... how about actually showing a little decency for once and either take part, or **** off... instead of just pissing and moaning and poopooing it.
