I have nothing against feminism and women, but there are a lot of recent changes in our society that are destroying men socially and economically.

I would say that I'm one of the men who are damaged by these changes.

More men are dropping out of high school while women significantly outnumber men in college enrollment. Boys are at disadvantage in education since they develop more slowly than girls.

With more children living without a father and a change in the media (we went from Atticus Finch to Homer Simpson), boys lack role models.

The economy, with the recession, has been brutally tough for male blue-collar workers. This is purely anecdotal, but I've generally noticed that most "unemployed 29 year old moms basement virgins" are men.

Violent video games and pornography are two industries which have aggressively targeted men. Both of which can be very addictive, cripple social skills and encourage laziness for those who are addicted to them.

It's tough for men to build genuine support networks and expose their vulnerabilities due to the pressure to be a macho warrior.

Dating is tougher for men (especially the shy and awkward), because the onus is on the man do all the initiating and flirting. Women have a much easier time finding casual sex, whereas average men need to get rejected dozens of times just to get one first date.

Men were once revered by women (and granted, men abused this power treated women like crap for generations), but now, to me, it seems like men are dwindling in value to the point where I may be invisible.

That's exactly the problem though. Women have expanded beyond their stereotypes and diversified their roles.

Men need to get out of the caveman bubble too. It's not enough nowadays just to work hard, be a good strong provider. Now, men need to be emotionally open, communicative, elegant and so on. Fathers need to do more than put food on the table. They need to read to their kids, tell them they love them and so on.

What you say and what you mean seem like two totally different things, maybe I'm just not reading it correctly, I am quite tired. I also apologize if this seems ranty, I hear this stuff a lot of other boards I frequent, and a lot of the time it boils over to near nuclear levels of stupid.

Men need to be men and fight the oppressive feminazis, but men need to be GQ and dapper in order to do so?. What if our definitions of manliness and masculinity differ, that concept is pretty subjective, honestly. My view of manliness is being physically strong, mainly stoic, willful and enduring, just like my role models. It's certainly not perfecting my communication skills or attempting to upend my own nature entirely to benefit the good of the few and easily offended.

I'll keep my caveman mentality thanks, lifting heavy stuff, listening to angry music, watching violent movies and looking at nekkid ladies just seems right to me. The main problems are white knights, beta males and keyboard warriors. All these guys who are so awkward around women that any contact from a female would essentially cause the guy in question to deliver the world to her, on a silver platter if it were possible. And any negative comment towards the female has these fools riding en masse to defend her supposed honour. The honour of a female who basically says they aren't worthy to even lick her boots.

Also, the first two waves of feminism were a solid thing with valid reasons behind them and we are richer as a society for it, however these third wave feminists are so full of ***** their eyes are brown. They bitch about "the patriarchy", fat shaming, slut shaming, "transphobia" and all this dumb stuff that makes them feel important and guilt free, because this big bad world is so, so mean.

At this point we have actual feminists and women of substance calling these privileged little girls out on their BS, that's how bad it's gotten. But it ain't gonna stop anytime soon because all these super liberal, guilt ridden college campus feminists and their beta lapdogs will not stop until the entire world is their shade of PC.

TLDR:

Masculinity/Manliness can mean different things to different people, our views certainly don't seem perfectly in line with each other.

I love and respect women, but these bitches be crazy.

The thread title is complete bull and almost undermines everything but after reading what the actual content is I'm a little less judgemental.

I disagree with at least 50% of what you're saying but I understand what you perceive as merit for your argument. I am a father currently in an ongoing court battle in relation to my daughter and almost every one I have spoken to puts me at a disadvantage purely because of my penis. I have been spoken to like I am some sort of criminal, when I'm not even being accused of a crime, I have ever had to endure mind boggling comments like "you're just a Dad what would you know". However being made to feel small and worthless does not mean I am.

Men in general are definitely not be so dominate in the world (in some instances). There is also a change in the depiction of men. Instead of men dominating the TV and movies we have plenty of leading women, we have more women being put in positions of power (not equally) to the point it's no longer "weird" to see it. We still have a gender wage gap, still have a significant amount of sexism in the world (however now it seems to swing both ways as opposed to being primarily male), women may have expanded on their stereotypes but so have men. There is still a dominate amount of men in labor professions just as women dominate the child care positions, but its just not as shocking as it used to be to see a woman pick up a hammer or a man pick up a sponge.

Violent video games and porn are marketed to men. Just as make up and weight loss is usually marketed heavily to women. Both have their consequences but that's just marketing. We target whomever we think will have the cash to spend it. Being treated differently isn't going to cause us to wither and die. Just because we are no longer the soul warrior kings of the world does not mean we are being 'destroyed' or even our positions are changing. Personally I hope to live to see the day when in most ways we are all treated as equals regardless of gender, it's just the evolution of society.
