View Full Version : MoFo Fantasy Baseball '16 - The Regular Season
Thought I did well, Archer did well, but I went down -0.5. When youre in last place thats kind of demoralizing.
Wish the Rays would finally decide on their 5 man rotation, might have been holding onto Erasmo needlessly.
Odorizzi & Moore this weekend, with a lil help from Aaron Nola. Probably dropping Werth tomorrow as his next 2 pitching matchups are nasty

Im not wanting anyone, but was curious if we can shave a day off the wait time for a player thats on waivers? Would we have to wait till next season, or if everyones for it we could do it this one?
I'd consider voting to change it next season. That said, I am, respectfully, opposed to any measures that will allow you to make more transactions faster.
I think it's pretty good as-is. I don't really hate the idea of moving it from 2 to 1, but I don't think of it as a problem either. I guess I'd kinda like to hear any arguments people have either way.
Almost certainly can't change it midseason, though. It'd need to be unanimous, and affirmative (meaning non-responses count as Nos).
I will go with the crowd. I'm not bothered either way.
Next year then hopefully.
I got Khris Davis in a double header, 1st game hes 0/3 so far, dont you screw me Krush! I will kick yo hiney to the piney or curb with no hesitation
Khris Davis is 0/5 and that first game isnt done yet. Hating him right now AGH!
Started the second game, and now hes 0/6
Man, do you react to every game from every pickup like this, all year long? Even without getting into the randomness of any decisions made this way, that just sounds exhausting.
Man, do you react to every game from every pickup like this, all year long? That sounds exhausting, even apart from the fact that it isn't helpful in terms of decision making.
Oh hell no this is special. He was supposed to be streaking and had a double header against a couple of middlin pitchers. This was supposed to be a good day for him. *%#! now hes 0/7
He was supposed to be streaking
I have no idea what this means.
I have no idea what this means.
Past 14 Days Totals hes ranked 50th overall, and past 7 Day Totals hes 56th overall. So, thats streaking.

Insofar as "streaking" describes what he just did, that makes sense. But I assume "streaking" in this context implies that he's going to continue hitting well, and as far as I know there's no evidence that this is the case. That's why it doesn't work, overall, to just trawl for players who's have a few good games in a row.

Yes, trawling for a player with just a few good games doesnt work. 2 weeks worth of games it usually does. Let me gripe and cry! :( 0/8....
0/9, mercifully it is over. Khris Davis you are a very sucky man.
Lucroy with his second dinger in two days since coming aboard, both multi hit games :):):):)
Amusingly, I unloaded him instead of McCann specifically because I preferred the power. :D

I think the second part of that is just as true (or untrue) as the first part.
Same, but after fifty attempts at making the case for not reacting to small sample sizes, I have a large enough sample size to say it'll never work.

Good. :)
Rays callup Matt Andriese and Nola did well yesterday, my offense did well too, and Ive climbed from last place again. Tied with Seds at 10th.
Entertained the idea of diversifying my pitching...., nah Im sticking with my boys. Tonight is Matt Moores gut check, very important he bounces back from his last loss he was so shook up from that the Rays gave him an extra day. Odorizzi & Archer are stabilizing, and Smylys never had reason not to smile. BaDumCh! Oh that was awful :D

It's unbelievable how bad the catchers are this year.
Had to abandon the all-Rays starters concept, Moores whip has been unmanageable, and his innings pitched are lacking. :( So I got Rubby De La Rosa, who had the same credentials, but is going in a better direction

I hear you. Im hoping having the best closer in baseball now and the best base stealer in baseball will help. Trying to load up on real talent that is undervalued by Yahoo rankings - Avisail Garcia, Marcell Ozuna, Ketel Marte, and Jake Lamb. After a few more months, Im hoping these names will have more significance (to the good).
A few more months? Can you sit on your hands anywhere near that long? ;)
That's the big thing about churning through players looking for gems: sure, you'll have a gem or two on your roster at some point. You'll also drop a couple because they weren't all gemmy and shiny the first few days you happened to have them.
Max Scherzer threw 119 pitches, 96 strikes. He threw 23 balls. He struck out 20 batters. 12th time in MLB History that a pitcher has struck out 19 batters or more in a 9 inning game

No. I thought Miggy was the most valuable player, Scherzer was second, Hanley was third so you did need to throw in an extra piece. I don't think I would've made it without him, because I only barely accepted.

My god Keuchel sucks. How does a guy go from winning Cy Young to one of the worst pitchers?

Well, he was throwing in Fenway against the undisputed best hitting team in baseball right now. Sox are first in all hitting categories. Hard to sit a guy like Keuchel, but tonight might have been the night for that...

His velocity is down a few ticks from last year, which could be steroids or it could be any other reason. Most pitchers have such a tenuous grasp on getting guys out that they can't survive small losses in velocity or movement. (See also: Tim Lincecum)
It really makes you appreciate the guys that are good year in and year out.
Yeah, it seems simple, but some of these guys can flash the ball or tip their pitches or lose velocity just by changing their release angle a couple of inches. It's really, really hard to mimic the same movement every time, tens of thousands of times a year, with different grips and throwing at different speeds.

I didnt think Bautista was really trying to hurt him. I remember AJ Pierzynski sliding into 2nd a few seasons ago, and almost broke Ben Zobrists ankle. I mean it look ugly, Zo said something to him, and AJ didnt respond whatsoever. So the next day AJs up to bat, even the announcers said he was gonna get plunked by the pitcher, and he was. Aj took the beam, and then calmly took his base. It was all understood - Baseball Court.

I think the hard, late slide was intentional, but I don't think it was the same as what Chase Utley or Chris Coghlan did last year. It looked like the intent was more to knock him down than to slide into his legs. I don't know. It was a pretty ugly affair either way.

Tims Max Scherzer vs Mikes Noah Syndergaard tonight. Curious how that will turn out.

I'm pondering whether or not to make another futile trade offer to Mike for Polanco. But I probably shouldn't, because I can't think rationally about that dude any more.
He is a big hitter for me, and I just lost a guy...Will be hard for me to make a move with Polanco, especially noting the state of my offense stats right now...
Yeah, I'd be doing it for all the wrong reasons, too. Just really fun to watch a player blossom in front of you like this. We got to see it with Cutch and Cole, and it's a really special thing to see develop.
Been trying to climb out of the bottom, and today will tell the tale. I have 3 pitchers going - Matz vs Brewers, Nola vs Braves, and the Rays newbie Andriese @ Detroit. I probably shouldnt start Andriese, but I am. Hopefully Miggy will hit his homers after he leaves the game.
My waiver gem Odubel Herreras got a sore back, and A-Rod was supposed to be back yesterday yet still isnt activated. Might have to run with Owings & Yan Gomes.
Oh. Im sure it went by with no notice, but I used my #1 waiver slot on Rubby DeLaRosa. Hopefully hes a keeper :)

Maybe this was an underrated aspect of Tongo's temporary "All-Rays" strategy where he was always guaranteed one and only SP per day.

It would have been perfect. Have my team throw each day earning for my fantasy team watching it all on tv, but no. :( Moore cant get into his old groove, Odorizzis not dominant hardly ever now, Smyly imo is hurt from an injury he opted not to get surgery for last year, Andriese doesnt get much in K's and might lose his spot when Cobbs back, and Archer. Well its safe to say youll get the best out of Chris this season, youd think.

Miguel Cabrera giving Jeremy Hellickson the thumbs up after being struck out by him. It wasnt a thumbs up but I saw him do something like this a few seasons ago when facing Alex Cobb. Cobb thru a sinker that was so sick that Miggy actually looked at him and went "Wow!". I then immediately got out of my chair, and offered Aroldis Chapman to Yoda for Cobb.
They did a study in baseball on body language of a batter after a pitcher strikes them out. 99% of the time theyll walk back to the dugout head held low, or will stare/glare at the pitcher. The last thing they want to look at is the dugout, they dont want to see their coach or teammates. So I think its safe to say that Miggy is in the 1%.
Only someone really, really good is secure enough in their talents to be that complimentary in the heat of the moment.
Ive 4 pitchers Im sure of Kershaw, Matz, Nola, & Velasquez. My other 2 steady starters have yet to be determined.
CC Sabathia has looked like he's in his prime the past 3 outings - 19 ip, 19 Ks, 1.89 ERA, 1.05 Whip, and 3 QS's. If he can make it past Toronto tonight (on my bench) then he'll be a keeper.
Matt Wisler has been fantastic this season, but hes not strong for K's. Supposedly an easy matchup tonight vs the Brewers. Might drop him after.
Jeremy Hellickson, the only reason Ill hesitate keeping him is Ive got 2 Philly pitchers on my staff already. Technically it doesnt matter as Quality Starts can be gotten with poor offensive teams, but I dont know if Ill keep Hellboy.
Matt Harvey makes me sad.
That is all.

Exciting guy to own, given how he's tearing up the minors. But as is my wont, I'm willing to deal the upside for a safe, solid player.
EDIT: I mean, maybe. The more I read about this guy the more excited I get, so it's tempting to see what he can do first.

It's not exactly that. He had some kind of mass removed from his eye some time ago that left it like this when he was a kid. There are concerns that he'll eventually go blind in that eye, which is why a lot of teams passed on signing him, if I recall correctly.
I wish there was a way if you do a trade, everyone can hit accept or veto, and then the result is immediately processed.

I really like VV, but my bigger concern with him is that the Phillies have very little incentive to let him throw a lot of pitches in each start since you can start to see the making of a core of players there which would include VV.
Sure am glad I held on to Desmond...
My team really is terrible, but what is funny is that I am only down big in 2 categories to the Freedonia Ducks. The other categories i am still within earshot of.
Yeah, that's one of the tricky things about fantasy baseball: there are lots of paths to victory, but taking one usually involves closing off another. Very few teams are "out" in any categories at this point, and making up a lot of ground in any one of them is perfectly plausible. Making up ground in six or seven at once without ceding ground elsewhere...etc. And that's without getting into the fact that sometimes ranking differences obscure nominal ones of greater (or smaller) size.
Roto baseball often resembles a game of whack-a-mole.
FYI: mikey accidentally dropped Roark instead of Stroman this morning. He messaged me two minutes after it happened, so it seems like an honest mistake and I've changed the transaction accordingly.
If anyone objects, let me know and we'll see if we can hash it out.
Going to be in Seattle next week. Going to a game Monday and it looks like Felix will be pitching. Couldn't be more excited.

uh oh...
6/1:After fouling a ball off his left foot last night, Gregory Polanco was scratched from today’s starting lineup, but there could be further trouble looming. The 24-year-old Dominican outfielder visited the doctor’s office and will likely undergo an x-ray. Polanco is off to an incredible start to his third year in the majors, hitting .310 and appearing to be poised for a career year. Further updates on his status should be released throughout the day.--Ricky Delgado - RotoBaller
Shoemaker did competently, he gqave up 10 hits which sucked, but only 2 earned runs in 7 ips (8 Ks). Hes already over 100 pitches so that should be all for him. On the other side Michael Fulmer is in the 7th inning and maintaining a no hitter.....

Meanwhile: man, rough couple of weeks. Down over 20 points. Bound to happen, and it's mostly just good hitters all slumping at the same time, as well as a lot of categories where slight variations lead to a lot of variance. Long ways to go yet.
The catcher landscape is such shite, I am taking a shot on McCann, who has allegedly worked on his swing and changed his mechanics. It's not like there is much out there right now, anyway.
Ew! Damn! The Pittsburgh Pirates have a BA of .271 vs left handed pitching. Matz now no longer looks "sure thing" ish.
RE: Lem
Nope. That's my buddy, Mark. His league went in the toilet somehow and he was lamenting the fact that he didn't have a team in a competitive league this season. I brought him on as co-manager for my team so we can chat in the AM about players etc., as we have done for years. He has always helped me with my team a bit, but now it's all official and stuff. ;)
Hope that is OK!
Is it okay that someone is going to make it more difficulty for us to totally fleece you? Absolutely not.
But yeah, I'm cool with it.
Like we would ever get fleeced!
Oh, here is a picture of Mark and I.

They should suspend Ventura for the remainder of the season. Maybe that will break this habit of his.

I always enjoy a good baseball scrap.
Yeah there were actual punches being thrown and landed in this one. Im glad Manny got a piece of him back, and if that Royals manager had let Ventura go afterwards Im sure Manny would have given him some more. Usually baseball "fights" are pushing shrums. Whats funny is this one was intense, but disipated faster than normal. Maybe they should just let them punch each other a few times and get it out of their system.
My club is mastering the "solo home run". 1st place in HRs is Mark and hes 1st place in RBIs,
2nd place in homers is Sean and hes 2nd place in RBIs,
me and Yoda are tied for 3rd place in HRs, hes 4th place in RBIs,
and Im dead last. Thats just wrong.
Some bad news for Sean...

Billy Hamilton may have a concussion, which the protocol would put him out for at least 7 days.
Yea, had to snag a sub for Billy just in case. I won't be dropping Hamilton, though, so just move along, mister! ;)

Hmph! Well Mister is gonna move along indeed ;)
The next 3 days will show me what I really got. Had a bad week but Ozunas heated back up, Pearce is back, Logan Forsythe is back, and all of my pitchers will throw in the next 3 days. If Im 8th place monday or worse, then the only conclusion that could be made is I SUCK! :yup: I hope I dont suck.

Ventura is a punk.
My team may not break 50 points this year.
Every pitcher I throw out there is getting bombed. Kind of hilarious actually.
How about that Wainright? ;)
How about that Wainright? ;)
Whats surprising too is the uptick of K's hes gotten the past 2 turns.
Even though hes been solid for a month....Im still scared to start Sabathia. He has the Tigers tonight, oh joy!
Heres a question for everyone
Who are the least favorite players on your team?
Mine is Brandon Crawford, and Rajai Davis. Both seem to hover around a .250 Avg barely. Which means to see them 0/4 isnt unusual. I need Crawfords RBIs though, and Rajai gets RBIs too even though I need him for SBs.
Whoever happens to me in my catcher slot! I hates me some catchers.
Aaron Nola got destroyed today @ Washington  It happens but the dread gets instilled if its the start of a trend. We need more Clayton Kershaws in baseball! :yup:
Aaron Nola had a bad day, but Shoe's strong. I dont know what Matt Shoemaker did a month ago to his game, learned a sinker or a cutter, but hes a completely different pitcher. Vs Cleveland 9 Ks in 5ip so far 0.00 ERA 0.40 Whip. :)

J. D. Martinez Exits Game Against Royals
6/16:J. D. Martinez has been the Tigers' hottest hitter of late, with a seven game hitting streak (six of which were multi-hit affairs) entering tonight's contest. Tonight, fantasy owners got some bad news when Martinez collided with the right field wall while trying to track down a fly ball off the bat of Paulo Orlando. Martinez hit hard and grabbed for his right arm immediately, then struggled to throw the ball back to the infield before being escorted off the field by the trainer. Hopefully it's not anything serious, but it certainly didn't look good.

I grabbed the new hot prospect coming up in the Cubs system. Lets go, Contreras!
I dont know why, ol Russell Martin seems to have finally woke up. ;)
I grabbed an Oakland newbie after my Tampa newbie took a thrashing from Seattle.
Injuries, really. And the fact that I need the stats that guy seems to excel at (AVG, OBP).
Once my hurt people start coming back (Hamilton, Reddick, Puig) I can move some of these fill-ins I have.
Also, I need to give credit where it's due. Chris made a comment about whack-a-nole the other day, which made something click in my head in regards to how I adjust my roster.
Thanks, Yoda! :D
Credit where credit is due..... what, am I chop liver. ;) Game on guys!!!:D
Welcome to the league and forum Lem! :)
There he is! My good buddy Mark! I have known Mark forever, and he has always sort of helped me with my team in a more behind-the-scenes capacity. This season, we made it all official and I brought him on as a full co-manager. Yes, credit where credit is due and all that! ;)

I miss Joe Maddon :(
They're majorly outperforming their peripherals. It'll come back down (up?) to earth. It'll still be pretty great, but it's coming back up.
Daniel Mengden.............exactly.  He got the callup and was strong his first two turns. Maybe he will be able to keep this pace going forward. A prospect that will deliver, perhaps?
I dropped Rougned Odor to waivers to keep my OBP from weakening (it didnt matter) and I just had to do it with Pujols too. Sorry Albert. :(
Argle bargle! Steve pearce went down hard, and its his hamstring. They dont know if its a cramp or worse, but it looked bad. My only Ray on offense.
Funnily enough, right before the game I grabbed Jonathan Schoop as a backup.

Jake Peavy, we meet again. Very dubious picking him up, but hes posted incrdible #'s for a month. Stashing Alex Cobb for the 3rd time this season....not that I dont think Peavy or Cody Reed arent capable

Hello, all! Sorry that I've been a no-show around here lately and have been slow with handling trade proposals. Things have been pretty busy on my end and I've been having computer problems, so, you know.
I've been pretty steadily holding in the mid-90's, which is good, but also frustratingly near and far from first place. J-Up looks like he's deciding to be the player that I drafted and has been on a great tear, so I'm pleased with that. Heyward's been better too, but he and Prince are still giving me less that I was hoping for. Still more than half of the year to go, though.

I traded for him to secure my ERA & Whip! I want my money back! :bawling:
You do realize that those pitchers had to put all those runners on base too. Neither gave up a grand slam. Buchter didn't even allow a home run. Dyson gave up two. :)

Just traded for the 4th best fantasy pitcher. So naturally he is terrible when he comes to my team
Pitching good again but three days without a homer doesn't thrill me.
AdamG needs to reset his 2B AND 3B really quickly.
Forgetting to set lineups for afternoon games on holidays is an annual tradition.
Matt Moore and Junior Guerra just rocked today, and Id be loving life if my offense had gotten more than 1 hit in 22 at bats. 4th of July not been bedy bedy good to me.
Jose Reyes. Well when your SS is Brandon Crawford and youre weak on steals with Revere underperforming, he's worth taking a chance on. At least for a day or two. ;)
Change that to a week or two, and you are making a bit more sense. What if that day or two has him in bad situations to steal? Or if he needs a few games to lock in and get on base a few times? 1-2 games in baseball mean pretty much nothing for offense guys as far as judging overall value, IMO.

At this point in the season Im not looking to develop any damn body, I tried that with Albert (Btw, Angels recently played the Rays, hes gotten FAT.) If theres someone else producing now then Id drop Reyes for him, but there isnt. If Reyes doesnt get it done then when there is someone I move on it. Sometimes theres a difference between playing smart and playing to win. :)

It would be great if my pitchers' results would start matching their peripherals. Instead, I'm getting BABIP'd, LOB%'d, and HR/FB'd to death by Odorizzi, Rodon, Smyly, Archer, and Wacha. Save me, Max Scherzer!
Last I looked Odorizzi and Wacha were both pretty much in line with their peripherals. Though I think I Remember Smyly and Archer underperforming a fair bit, yeah.
Anyway, I saw this:
LOB%'d
And thought it said "LOL%." Which should definitely also be a thing.

I don't know about Smyly and Odorizzi, but Chris Archer is much better than he's been so far this year. All three of them have been pretty unlucky in HR/9 and, to varying degrees, their HR/FB. I think they'll get better over time. That said, I'm not thrilled that they reside in the AL East (and aren't on Baltimore, Toronto, or Boston).
I can't help but read these posts and be reminded of the best rotation ever talk.
A couple others have come close if I recall.

Has anyone thrown a no-hitter yet this season? Google....... Jake Arrieta did on 4/21/16 vs the Reds. Last one before that was Max Scherzer on 10/3/15 vs the Mets. There were 7 no-hitters in 2015, only one so far this year.
Not too many near-no hitters either. I think I'm okay with this, though. The high number of no-hitters and perfect games over the past few years has made me think that they aren't as special. Maybe going a whole year without one would be good for baseball.
There was a really long no-hitter drought in the early 2000's, if I recall correctly. Randy Johnson threw one and it took a few years before a Marlins pitcher got the next one (Anibal Sanchez, I think).
Tim wrote something about that very topic a few years back: The Windfall of Perfection (http://www.therewasnodoubtaboutit.com/2012/08/the-windfall-of-perfection/).

Thankfully the last 2 weeks going into the all-star break his .avg picked up. Fingers crossed he keeps it going when theyre back, and his momentum wasnt ruined.
12. Quickie Marte - Adam - 48.5 points
Adam won the league back in 2014. He squeeked by Yoda by the slimmest of margins, so close to where we waited to see if a weekly stat correction would change it. Since winning, it is my belief his teams been voodoo dolled by Yoda ever since, as last year and this year hes done miserably. Poor Adam is involved, not stupid, and deserves better than what hes got. Biggest fail for him was Stanton, but Jonathan Villar is a nice surprise. The main man at the Marte though is named Anthony Rizzo, 11th overall. He eats, breathes, and showers baseball....

10. The Loose Seals - Frightened Inmate #2 - 62.5 points
Patricks Seals have 8 starting pitchers, 2 closers, no holds guys, and a shlew of of waiver grabs. This is fish or cut bait time for them brutha' :yup: Category punting doesnt work, especially Holds because others stats are helped by usually low ERA/Whip guys. Steals may be the only category that can be "punted" and you could still win the league, see Mikeys Done & Dunns in 2013. Johnny Cueto has been rock solid for him, 23rd overall, and was chosen to be the official starter in the all-star game.

9. The Naturals - Me, my dumb ass! - 70 points
I lingered it seemed like forever in last place, and then did the TONGO overhaul. Then did it again. And then again. Right now I actually feel I have a good squad. Ive abandoned full time base stealers like BHam & Revere who mostly just butcher Avg & Obp. Also now not leaning towards the high # of strikeouts pitchers and more towards the low era/whip variety. I gotta do everything I can to repair my Avg & Obp, and if my Ozuna for Brantley gamble doesnt pay off, I am done.
My best player has pitched with a mild herniated disc in his back, missed the last 2 starts, and is still ranked 4th overall - Clayton Kershaw.
http://media.fyre.co/PPo5YwpQ2czkAn1a2log_Clayton-Kershaw-Bubbles-GIF2.gif
8. Peanuts&Crackerjacks - rauldc14/Dustin - 72.5 points
Strong offense even after Goldys departure - Encarnacion, Lamb (32nd overall), Gomer Myers, CarGo, Crush Davis, and DJ LeMeheewho. The pitching on the other hand was far from being good enough to even be called bad. Dallas Keuchel?! Still?! He traded some of that offense for pitching, which he could afford and landed Jose Fernandez. Raulds best player so far is Wil Myers ranked 14th overall. You waited long enough you son of a
http://sports.cbsimg.net/images//visual/whatshot/BYRQsT5CYAA6W24.jpg
7. Done and Dunn - Mikey - 73.5 points
Mikeys got some bright shining stars but a bunch of lacklusters. His pitching rosters like mine, one Ace and the rest waiver grabs. His Ace is Jon Lester, youre welcome, and his best player was recently acquired from the Ducks, paying the highest price possible in losing Mike Trout, and got Bryce Harper (ranked 16th overall, only because they wont pitch to him or he'd be in the top 3.)
http://mlb.mlb.com/assets/images/9/8/4/125043984/cuts/SteveAustin_g1g3c71b_u92y17pd.jpg
6. High-Level Arbitrage - Tim - 89 points
Looking at our defending champions offense I only see 2 holes in Prince Fielder and Jason Heyward. The pitching looks like its been hit with a tommy-gun. Very unusual to see Tim rocking so many starters that are consistently failing (Rays) as he was the coach with only Jose Fernandez on the DL and Claytron Kershaw last year coming out of the draft. He used RPs like mad and his era/whip was untouchable. His best player this year was gotten in a trade with the Crackjerjacks, 8th overall - Paul Goldschmidt
https://s-media-cache-ak0.pinimg.com/736x/f9/5c/e6/f95ce68aa32a75c43b5434698f961a50.jpg
5. Mudville Nine - seanc - 89.5 points
Good ol Sean seems to have himself an earner this season as the Mudville Nine fought their way from the cellar to right near the podium. Unlike me, his squad didnt fall back down the rankings. Alot of question marks on his pitching, but Matt Hollidays his only black eye on offense.
His best player has been so hot, so hot, that he got Miguel Cabrera for him (Me, my dumb ass!). This player has stayed hot to where he landed on another roster after, then back on the Mudville Nine where he started. Its the last year for the big man, and hes making it count, ranked 6th overall, David Ortiz.

https://memecrunch.com/meme/YP8V/david-ortiz/image.png?w=427&c=1
4. The Empire - Fabulous - 91 points
Right next to the podium! The Empire has had one of the steadiest stable of hurlers in our league - Bumgarner, Strasburg, Kluber, great waiver grab in Verlander, Taijuan Walker, and Samardzija. Strangely hes 2nd from last in Holds. His offense has some studs, theyre not what got him here though they will be what will have to carry him beyond 4th. Other than Holds theres no points to really be gained by The Empire in pitching. His best player has been Madison Bumgarner, ranked 7th overall.
https://pics.onsizzle.com/Facebook-Madison-Bumgarner-Postseason-MVP-SFGiants-cd56c3.png
The Podium
3. Clockwork Angels - Sedai & LEM - 92.5 points
Sedai/Mike has a lil helper in LEM, and it seems to have paid off as Clockwork is closer to 1st place than theyve ever been. They have 2 players that have produced like 1st round draft picks in fantasy, Josh Donaldson & Ian Desmond. Their pitchings bad. Its Thor and a bunch of ho-hums. Maybe Waino, Felix, and Grienke will have a great 2nd halves, the Clockwork Angels fate rides on it. ;) Josh Donaldson is ranked 2nd overall.

2009 2nd place
2010 2nd place
2012 2nd place
2014 3rd place
and currently 2nd place in 2016, by a day! Yoda pulled into 1st place just last night. I really respect Marks knowledge or baseball instincts as his record is the second best overall in the leagues history, and he rarely trades. He works the waivers, some. I feel Mark makes a trade to get an Ace with the flush offense hes sporting, itll be all he needs to finally win it all. His best player is ranked 5th overall, the other Cubs phenom, Kris Bryant.

1. Freedonia Ducks - Yoda - 99.5 points
Well, heres a familiar face at the top. I was just telling Yoda in PM that Fantasy Baseball is alot like poker. The same faces are at the final table at the world series of poker year in and year out, and the same here.
2009 Champions
2010 Champions
2011 2nd place
2013 2nd place
2014 2nd place
2015 2nd place
Thats brutal. To be 2nd place 4 out of 5 years is more monumental than winning a season, buuuuuut it sure doesnt feel like it. :nope: Yoda has 2 players that have performed like 1st rounders. One is Mr First Rounder fimself Mike Trout, and the other is ranked #1 overall - Jose Altuve.

He, Mark, and the Angels all taste blood...... can see the finish line.
Baseball is fickle though. and who is at top by years end may be someone far from the podium today.
Good stuff Rob. Should be an exciting second half. Even though the word "second" gives me PTSD-style flashbacks.
Great post, but if I recall, I grabbed the third place cup the first year we played, so I have been here before! :) My team was called The Clueless Clowns back then, btw.
I would also contend that my pitching has had injury trouble, and isn't necessarily bad. Aside from QS, which have eluded me a bit, my lowest point total in any pitching category is 7. The very definition of middle of the road!
I must commend both Mark and Chris, who clearly know their stuff when it comes to baseball. I'm right on your heels, boys! So just look out! ;)

Sorry, my bad. Of course 3rd place in 2009.....thats like a century ago ;)

Point is it all rides on Felix, Waino, and Grienke now. They have to be good again to take you forward. If theyre middle of the road too, that wont help.
Best not give too much advice to the podium people though, cause I wanna beat ya'! :D
Yea, The Mike/Lem squad certainly has a lot of question marks going into the second half, which was the plan in regards to Felix, but not so much with Grenkie, who I would rather have at 100% and not dealing with an oblique. I am hoping all my pitching comes back refreshed after the break!

If Keuchel can get his head out of his ass and I pick up some waiver gems maybe I can finish around 6th or so.
I would still trade Cargo or Crush Davis for a good pitcher.
Ha! Wil Myers brother plunked him in the home run derby.

Take that Gomer! :yup:
Just looked up the score of the game last night, I don't watch the All-Star games too much anymore. Was there any talk about how few runs compared to other years? That score is the lowest I can remember.
