Just watched this bad boy on DVD last night and enjoyed it thoroughly.

Fabulous cinematography escpecially outer shot of the buncker and extreme use of the green in nature to create a metaphor for the films underlying themes.

The script too is very well written with intelligence and understanding of the genre. Like Dog Soldiers this one has military men, this time seven WWII German soldiers who are in deep **** and battling supernatural forces.

Rather than going for action and obvious horror this films tension arises from the psychological pressures and never lets go till the final frame. (Thats enough, dont want to ruin it)

The films one glaring fault is that British actors with strong British and scottish accents play the German soldiers. This took some getting used to and there is no doubt the film would have been far more immersive in German with subtitles.- you are always aware you are watching english actors playing german soldiers rather than being completly thrust into a foreign land that forces the viewer to look at everything from an alternate angle

Fortunately the story is good enough to rise above it and just enjoy the yarn for what it is.

Not a perfect film but still damn good fun and well worth owning, escpecially when compared to the uS horror genre of recent years.
