If theres a thread for this somewhere already Im sorry.

Yknow I think itll be a huge upset if the Panthers win. The Broncos offense is above average, but their defense is freakish good. Ever since I saw the Ravens years ago win their first super bowl with a A++ Defense and an F offense, well I think this will be Denvers game to lose.

His last game? My favorite QBs were Joe Montana and then Peyton Manning, I couldnt tell you which ones better. If the Broncos win Peyton should retire with the neck injuries hes had. Maybe my next favorite QB will be Cam...

My guess is....
Denver Broncos 24
Carolina Panthers 9

I wish I didn't have to preface this with "Panthers' fan"...

I will take for granted you watched the AFC championship game. How does a team that barely beat NE, in part due to Belichick's refusal to kick fgs; beat one with a run-stuffing line, #1 turnover defense and better offense.

If Denver wins, it will be because of fluke plays / turnovers. Everyone seems to have forgotten SB 48 this week. Carolina is better than that Squawks team in every aspect short of secondary.

We can still lose, but Denver's D is not exponentially better than ours and there offense is nowhere close.

Things happen... :)

I'll guess it's a lower scoring game this time, something like 19-16.

I think Gabe Kaplan and Franco Harris are the same person.

I don't know, I guess we'll see. Carolina stopped them but their defense is starting to dominate anyway. Did that 7 yards make a difference?

Denver 24
Carolina 23

Often the case in Super Bowls for the first half. It's the second half that tells if it's a classic or a dud.

That punt return might as well have been another turnover.

So glad Manning got his second ring. Really surprised i thought they had no chance, goes to show anything can happen especially with it being one game. Unlucky to the Panthers i suspect they'll be great again next year, the Broncos defence just completely denied Newton room to breathe.

I've got to say, Cam and the Panthers sure didn't show much. At least they have a young, strong nucleus that will have more chances. Well done Denver; their road to the championship wasn't easy.

Yeah, most people really underestimated Denver's D this week. They have been a machine all year. The pass rush is as good as any I remember.

I was off by one point! It was an ok game, but thats the best you can get when the games so defensively driven. Denver had Cam Newton running around like a fart in a fan factory. Hopefully this wont be his last trip to the big show. The halftime show was watchable. Its been awhile since thats been the case.

Now I am ready for some baseball!!!! :D:D:D

It was a record at 11 in that game. Now it's even more of a record :D

Didn't expect Broncos to win and with that much damn. But it's not like they didn't deserve it, how the game played out.

I had to quit watching in the 3rd quarter. As much as I tried, it was just too hard to watch.

I would have never thought that Denver D would eat their lunch like that. I think they left em' the slice of humble pie.

Whats funny is everyone on espn said how badly Panthers would win and Cam had arrived and was a bad man. He prooved that Russell Wilson can stand pressure better in the big games.

I have always loved defensive game wins - harking back to the Steel Curtain it is exciting to watch for me. Might be because in every sport I played in (except bowling) I played defense. Either way congrats to the Broncos and to Manning.

On a side note I wonder how much he got paid every time he said he would be drinking Bud?

NedStark09

Yeah I would have figured Peyton A Captain Morgan drinker or something more so then a bud drinker.

Well, I'm certainly happy to be wrong! Here's how I put it the other day:

Don't really feel too confident about anything related to this game. A Bronco win wouldn't be totally shocking if the defense just comes out and plays ferociously. A Panther blowout wouldn't shock me either.

I tend to think if the Broncos win, it'll be because the defense got some big turnovers (maybe even a score), and that Denver ends up with one great receiver too many for Carolina to cover (probably Sanders).
So, definitely wrong about the outcome, but I guess this is fairly accurate in the "if an upset happens, here's how it would" sense. Sanders didn't put up massive numbers, but he was wide open a lot, and the Broncos did indeed get that big turnover + score.

My main reason for thinking the Broncos might not win is that I wasn't convinced their offense would do much. Combine that with Newton's mobility, and I figured even constant pressure would allow him to make a few big plays. So even a tremendous game from the Denver defense might not be enough: they'd have to hold Carolina to something like 13-17 points. Which they did.

What really stood out to me were the fumbles. Not just the official ones, but all the ones that happened just as the play ended, or right after. There were, what, another 3-4 times where that happened, but the runner was ruled down just before? It seemed constant. Felt like every few plays the Broncos were knocking the ball loose. I've seen pressure from great defenses, but I can't remember the last time I saw a defense pry the ball free that often.

Huge congratulations to the Broncos and to Peyton Manning. It's kind of funny that he ran so many great offenses with mediocre defenses that didn't do much in the playoffs, and he gets his second Super Bowl on a mediocre offense with a great defense.

Both teams can feel good about their chances going forward, too. The Panthers have a bright future, and the Broncos seem like they've got the personnel to compete for at least the next couple of years even if Manning calls it quits, and even if the defense comes down to earth a little.

Advertisers. Or, in other words, the reason there is a halftime show.

I turned it off after the first quarter. Denver 10-0 up? Game over.

So, check out these odds for next year's Super Bowl:

http://i.imgur.com/RqEovu8.png

I haven't really been that excited about the Steelers the last few years. In part because they'd had plenty of success lately, but also because it's hard to get excited about Pretty Good teams. Obviously, if you get in to the playoffs, you can go on a run, but the last few years it's been obvious they'd need to string together at least a couple of upsets in a row to make some noise.

That might not be the case next year. I think the odds here are based on the idea that the offense could be insanely good if everyone's actually healthy at the same time for once. There might be a nice little window for the next 2-3 years for Roethlisberger where he's a bit younger than Manning and Brady, and the offense is good enough that they really only need the defense to be average to be the best team in the AFC.

Anyway, we'll see. But this might be the first year in awhile where I'll start the season thinking they could actually be meaningful Super Bowl contenders.

I didn't care too much about who won, but I am glad Manning was able to get another SB victory. All talk about GOATs aside, he really deserved it. And WOW, that Broncos defense was amazing. Personally I think it was probably better than the Seahawks defense a couple years ago—but that might be because they seemed to carry the whole team so much more. Also I didn't mind the Panthers losing mainly because Cam's ego was getting wayyy too big leading up to this, and how he was apparently acting like a sore loser after the game.

Also, I wonder if this was the first Super Bowl where neither QB scored a touchdown passing or rushing? There might have been but I'm not sure.

Mr. Forgetful didn't realize how many of those guys on the Denver D didn't play against Seattle. I'll give Seattle their due, if that Denver team was as good :nope: as the one last night.

Personally, I think it does us all good to eat some humble pie every now and then. Carolina hadn't done anything. Jordan is the biggest killer of all time and count to me how many times he talked "publicly" about it.

We had no short passing/ 3 step drops/ maybe our receivers really suck/ Olsen got flypapered all night... I don't know. It just seemed liked every play was broken.

Miller is gonna get paid. But I have no clue what position he plays. I could have sworn he lines up as an end, but apparently he is a linebacker. Silly denim. I don't see us signing Norman either, so that secondary is not going to improve.

Gotta Question while they were playing and if you wanted a catch which would you guys wanna throw too TO or Marvin Harrison. How many dropped passes did either have and another question is did Marvin Make Peyton Better or did TO carrey the teams he was on in same right.
