I just spent the last hour bashing my head against a login screen so I want something to pick me up. Let's give this a try.

Song Tournament

This'll be similar to Sexy Celebrity's Metalheads Song Tournament (http://www.movieforums.com/community/showthread.php?t=44218), except this time the focus will be on uptempo synthesized music, so elect songs that pump you up with the beat and getchu jammin'!
The same leniency for song acceptability will apply here: A particular range of music is preferred, but you can pick whatever you want, just know that it's everyone else's prerogative to vote against your song if they don't consider it EDM.
All said, just be chill. But not too chill. Chillstep's pushin' it.
Gonna aim for 8 people with 8 songs each here, so let anyone know who you think might enjoy it. If you're gonna submit a list PLEASE commit to voting.
I'm not gonna rush this one but try not to flake out. You got about a day per round.

Please don't accuse me of being judgmental SC, you made a tournament for a genre of music you've proven you don't care about or understand. And then proceed to get angry because people who are actual fans of the genre joined. If you wanted a hard rock/metal you should have called it that, but you actually called it "Metalheads Song Tournament" so really you got what you asked for SC. My "biased" list was all metal, besides you even said and I quote.
You know what? I really don't care. If it's metal to you, that's fine. I'm not gonna argue. If you don't believe the song is true metal, don't vote for it.
So I did exactly that and voted for who I thought was metal, and if I didn't think they were I disregarded them, as per your instructions.

We sell "My Little Pony" toys at conventions, and that was the first thing that I thought of when I saw his avatar. (I like it. The rainbow colors make me smile. :) )

For what it's worth, I've never actually seen My Little Pony.
I watched a lot of the 80's series when I was little and now recently I watched My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic, the two movies last year and the first episode of the TV show yesterday. I though overall it was not bad animation and pretty cute but lacks a certain "complexity" in the way it is directed and written. Its a children's show but that doesn't mean it cannot be complex.

At least my second method encourages people to stay updated with the thread. First-come-first-serve is chance in a way, but I'm inclined to think I ****ed up by not starting the tournament this way.
But I would argue that bracketed elimination tournaments like this are implicitly biased because it's easy to get seeded poorly.
The two most popular songs starting on opposite ends of the bracket could make it into the final 2, but if they start next to each other then one of them is gone by the first round.

You can try posting a message in the Shoutbox, or the Chill Club thread asking for a tiebreaker, or try sending a message to someone who's in the "Who's Online" box on the home page and ask them to break the tie.
But you have to find someone to actually listen to the songs and vote. Randomly choosing a loser just makes someone upset because they lost in an unfair method. This is a "tournament", not a "lottery".

Well, I'm not including this in the Hall of Fame. I'm too disgusted by how this played out tonight.
I agree. This wasn't decided fairly, and it doesn't deserve to be in the Hall of Fame.
That's your guys' prerogative.
You can also try asking the participants to rank the songs that need tiebreakers. That would give them a weighted vote, and you could eliminate the lowest ranked songs.
I LIKE THAT. Good suggestion.
I will probably do that in the future.

I totally lied about the coinflip actually.
I actually rolled a fist-sized 20-sided dice and decided based on whether it lands on evens or odds.
I would have used a BBCode diceroll... but Movie Forums doesn't have that.

I'm not trying to give him a hard time. I'm trying to help him so that he can run future tournaments properly. If nobody says anything and you all just let it slide, he's not going to realize that a random method isn't fair, and he'll just do the same thing next time.
That's why I'm giving him suggestions. I'm trying to help him figure it out so that he'll be prepared the next time he wants to run a tournament.

That said, I realized there were issues with the tournament a while ago.
You might want to join a few tournaments to see how other people run them before you run another one. It will give you an idea of what to expect. Then you can see for yourself what works and what doesn't work.
This was a small tournament, with only a few people. You might want to follow along with the Love & Heartbreak tournament that's been going on. It's a bigger tournament, so the rounds last longer, but everyone gets a chance to vote, and ties are broken by impartial voters. It's probably not perfect either, but I do my best to make sure that everything is done fairly, so that, (hopefully), everyone is happy.
Then, when you're ready, you can run another tournament, and it will probably go smoothly.
