View Full Version : Drugs
What are your thoughts on recreational drugs?
Have you taken them?
Do you currently take them?
Should they be legalized?
Ect.
I just thought that this could be a very interesting topic of discussion.

He said DRUGS.
Marijuana is just one of them.
Yeah, I was hoping for a talk about all recreation drugs. I have a lot to say about this topic and know quite a lot and I was just hoping to find a few people who I could engage with.

I'm guessing many people are probably afraid to even talk about it. I think a lot of people feel they're being spied on. It's like how some people use code on the phone.
I don't mind if they legalized drugs, regardless if I've ever used them or not. As long as they keep it to themselves - just like how one can't drink and drive. There are legal drugs that can distort more than illegal ones.
I don't ever see drug stores selling Vicodin or Xanax over the counter though. Marihuana might be legal soon, there's been some progress there. I think there should be more experimenting with LSD (and not MK-Ultra) as I think it can be therapeutic under the right circumstances, though it could be very dangerous in the wrong environment.
I stayed in a homeless shelter in Australia for 6 weeks, and I was told we could use drugs, as long as we did it in the room. Kinda blew my mind I was able to smoke a joint, etc., in my room without hiding a thing.

Marihuana is legal in my state. And didn't there use to be a J in Marihuana?
I believe that the system (at least in UK) of drug classification is very messed up and not at all reflective on reality. Heroin, crack cocaine and crystal meth in the same category as MDMA and magic mushrooms.
Also similarly cannabis on the same level as mephadrone.
Doesn't make sense to me.

The "jota" (j) was put in to give it a Spanish association.

I don't have a problem with weed but I'm against everything else. I haven't touched anything in 15 years but did pretty much everything when I was young and wild. Didn't mean to try heroin but they put it in my blow:D

I've never tried speed, X, meth, never injected anything... I hated coke.
The only psychedelics I've taken were magic mushrooms and LSD - and they were all wonderful or at least great experiences, I'd recommend it for everyone, but in the right environment. If I had any wish, it would to be in Northern Michigan, surrounded by lakes and nature, 75 degrees... Peace and quiet.

Mushrooms are something that I would love to try but I am really unsure about LSD. I don't know what it is about it but for some reason I am put off by it.
I recently tried MD for the first time and it was a really great experience and was very mind expanding. It brought me closer to a lot of people and has been rewarding for me.

I think they should be decriminlised, people shouldn't be punished for using them, if they are addicted they should be given help, not punishment. I think the effects are fascinating, especially in some, and also agree that the classification of some is quite odd, there is definitely a difference between drugs and why people use them, things like coke and ecstacy are normally used for a temporary high, nights out, parties etc. where as stuff like crack and heroin are normally used in much more problematic environments. I could probably say some more, but I'll leave it at that for now.

Yes there is definitely a difference between being addicted to a drug and using drugs occasionally to get high. This makes the highly addictive drugs very problematic. I'm not saying that the other drugs cannot be problematic either though but it is these drugs I feel should be decriminalised. I am personally unsure about some of those more extreme examples if decriminalization would be better but I do feel more help should be made.
Alcohol is a drug that can be very problematic but like MDMA, ketamine, cannabis, mushrooms ect. as long as you don't abuse it you should be completely fine. However if you do abuse them you probably won't be. This isn't the fault of the drug but the consumer in most cases.

I said the same thing, but I actually prefer LSD or shrooms. I first took magic mushrooms when I was 22, didn't take LSD until I was 29. I hate the taste of shrooms, also hurt my stomach.
As with anything, you should start off small, and go from there.

Thank you for the advice. I'm 20 so I guess there is no rushing things at the moment. I do look forward to trying my first hallucinogenic though. I feel like it would be something I'd remember for the rest of my life.

The government should legalize and regulate all recreational drugs, the same way it does with alcohol. Recreational drug use should've never been punishable by law, especially since past presidents - plural - and other politicians have admitted to, at least, using weed. In the meantime, for years now, normal people have been thrown into jail with cut-throats and rapists and had their livelihoods negatively affected for years, afterwards. I only tried the softer stuff, weed and hash, but it never became a habit, with me. I didn't have the balls to try the "harder" stuff, because I'm not into doing drugs, really. I tried it to try it and never cared about it, afterwards. I have a glass of wine with dinner, occasionally and still drink socially. Otherwise, it's not something I give a lot of thought to. At the same time, I do understand that the crime associated with drugs isn't going to just go away, even after it's made legal and that others have a greater need for the escape provides than I do. So ... it's not exactly cut and dry, for me, but I don't believe my government's served its people very well, regarding drug use. There's a long way to go, but we're going to get there ...

You have one of my favorite Top 10's - I also think it will be very special for you as well.. It's something you shouldn't rush into, and instead pick the right time. I would go somewhere remote, somewhere you won't see anyone, turn off the phone, etc., enjoy nature, have some music picked out in advanced... I would also put something over the clock as I did not want to have any concept of time.
When I was in Thailand, I had the opportunity to try ayahuasca with the girl I was traveling with. Well, another friend who I met in Australia asked if he could join us, and plans got diverted. She ended up taking it, and she quit cigarettes and alcohol instantly. It's been 2 yrs, and I still ask how she is. She doesn't have depression anymore, and I can tell it's really helped her without changing her.
I might do this now, but I'd love to see the journal when I took a half ounce of shrooms. I would recommend 2-3 grams, but I was experienced by then. Anyway, I remember drawing, and writing extensively about a "Smile Revolution" - for weeks nothing would bother me, but sometimes I can use something I gained - being in the moment, being alive, and appreciating life even when things aren't perfect.
