"Word Up!" is good, cool and special song. It's lyrics is hilarious, but also has internal logic to it. It has great rhythm and awesome video clip. "Wave your hands in the air like you don't care" :highfive:

I was singing In The Army Now to myself earlier this week. No idea why it popped into my head, but it did.

I love seeing Simply Red on the list. I think that is my favorite of theirs.
Doesn't "Manic Monday" just scream Prince? I always wished he would've recorded a version of the song.
Ah, the Cliff Richard version of "All I Ask of You". I always cringe a little, though, during the video from 3:16 - 3:52. :p

I prefer female vocals overall.

It might be cheesy, but I don't mind. :)

I'm always a little surprised when I see an American knows who Cliff is.

I think this is the only Cliff Richard song I know:

My mum was always a Cliff fan, so that period in particular is ingrained in my mind.

Did Cliff Richard sing a duet with Olivia Newton-John? I can't remember the name of the song, but I seem to remember them doing a duet together. Maybe on the Xanadu soundtrack?

Indeed they did. I don't know if it was on the Xanadu soundtrack, though.
Thanks to Chyp, I now know it was. :D

"Take My Breath Away" is a good record. But Tugger, Prince's "Kiss" was 1986! How is that not on your list at all? That tune is ridiculously fun and endlessly cool. "Walk Like an Egyptian" is kind of a perfect pop song, I'm with you there; a bigtime earworm. A few others from 1986 I would put high on my own list would be "The Walk of Life" (Dire Straits), "A Matter of Trust" (Billy Joel), and "Your Love" (The Outfield).

*and that Europe's "The Final Countdown" charted in '86 but you couldn't even work it in as you started your countdown seems like a missed opportunity, to me. :D
