View Full Version : I'm off to Paris!
Just wanted to say that in a month I'm off to the city of my dreams, the city of light, the city of lovers. By air, of course. Otherwise I wouldn't be going. There's so much to see there, but due to my occupational hazard, I'm most excited about La Quartier Latin, the academic part of the town, to visit La Sorbonne, where Descartes, Laplace, Lagrange, Fourier, Pascal, Cauchy, Lavoisier, Pasteur, Poincare, Hilbert etc. have lectured and Le Pantheon, where Zola, Lagrange, Poincare, Hugo, Voltaire, Rousseau, Marie Curie, Dumas, Braille etc. are burried.

Thanks. :) Paris syndrome! Has it reached that level already? What a hell? A trip to Paris, and you become mentally ill! I guess they should open a hospital there especially for that. Man, you go there strait from the airport! :lol.
Yeah it's pretty crazy it is most common in the Japanese apparently.
Japanese visitors are observed to be especially susceptible.[2][3] It was first noted in Nervure, the French journal of psychiatry in 2004.[4] From the estimated six million yearly visitors, the number of reported cases is not significant: according to an administrator at the Japanese embassy in France, around twenty Japanese tourists a year are affected by the syndrome.[5] The susceptibility of Japanese people may be linked to the popularity of Paris in Japanese culture, notably the idealized image of Paris prevalent in Japanese advertising.

I've been to Paris quite a few times , beautiful buildings, interesting place. It's got very expensive tho so take plenty of money and be aware that sitting outside a cafe on the pavement costs more than eating or drinking inside. It's a lovely thing to do tho sitting watching the world go by but just don't do it all the time! Try and eat in backstreet places rather than the big touristy ones on the grand boulevards.
You have to go to the Catacombs, they are mad! http://www.catacombes.paris.fr/en/homepage-catacombs-official-website
Go up to Montmartre and see Sacre Coeur , the view is brilliant.
Watch yourself on the Metro, and in the markets as in all big cities there are pickpockets where there's crowds, so keep your wallet etc in a safe pocket not a back one. Watch for being jostled,.
Have a great time, use your French all the time :)

Well, it's 10/10 as a fake French.
Thanks everyone for the wishes! :)
I'm so jealous! I've only been once before, and that was years ago now, but I'd love to go again. There's so much I'd want to see!

Well, it's 10/10 as a fake French. It's my own language. It's a mix of French and English with some absurd seasoning.
Oui Oui se qui a nun de la selavie. Jeplex selavex d'eplex arterie.
What I meant was:
No, no, a nun says hello. She uses knife to cut artery.
It's a secret code that has to be translated into another one of my secret fake languages to get the actual meaning of it.
My another secret language is a mix of Polish and German and you have to translate the phrase you got above, so. "No, no, a nun says hello. She uses knife to cut artery." changes to:
Ja, ja, Nonne tschus. Sie u¿ywa schneiden Arterie nó¿.
After the last decipheration into Polish using Minio's formula:
Jaja sobie robiê. Mi³ego dnia.
I took a liberty to loosely translate it to English
I'm just f*cking with you. Have a nice day.
