I have this pathetic collec...no, it's not a collection

DVD

The Way Of The Dragon

Terminator Salvation

Battle Of Los Angeles

Cloverfield

Blue Ray

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hollows 2

Jupiter Ascending

For example, is Transformers Revenge of the Fallen worth it? Wrath of the Titans? I, Robot?

I'm thinking quality, extras, packaging etc.

Any recommendations?

I Robot isn't even worth watching, let alone buying the dvd.

I think it depends what you want out of a dvd. I'd say pick a film you're likely to want to rewatch a lot and isn't widely available on any other streaming service. But some people care a lot about transfer quality and options and different cuts and commentaries and other extras, so you'd have to ask yourself what is important to you in a dvd.

As TN said, it depends what you want. However, I'd recommend Enter The Dragon, The Wicker Man - Directors Cut(1973) and Citizen Kane: Special Edition. These are the covers I'm used to seeing with these suggestions.

Thanks.

Two years ago I went to a DVD store to buy a DVD for Christmas for someone. with absolutely no clue what I'll buy. So I bumped into I, Robot (which I still haven't seen, and I guess I won't) 3D Blue Ray which even had a 3D hologram. I just couldn't resist. It was love at first sight. I bought it only bc of that hologram, even though it was 40 $. So, that's actually what I'm talking about. I don't even care that much for the movie, more like diamonds are a girl's best friends. Which DVD/BR is mind-stopping as a product?

Enter The Dragon would be nice, thanks. I haven't even heard of The Wicker Man and still haven't seen Kane.

Going by the films you have in your collection try the following two science fiction films. Both came out in steelbook edition packaging in America I believe like here in the UK. You mentioned packaging so don't know if you are a fan of steelbooks. Nice steelbook editons for the two films anyway.

Chappie
District 9

I'm mentioned on the Fellowship of the Rings SE DVD. I'm listed in the LOTR fan club members list during the credits.

I suggest Blu-ray.

As Foster said, the extended LOTR DVDs. Or BluRays if you have a player. Best DVD set ever made. I reviewed the box set about 2 years ago in a thread called Rodent's DVD Reviews. It's one of my threads that died off, but I may bring back at some point. Might be worth a look in there.

Other than that, go for your top 10.

May I ask what steelbook edition packaging is?

Steel book is like it sounds. It looks like a regular DVD case, that opens the same way, but it's made of metal with the design/poster printed on it, instead of clear plastic with a paper insert.

I wouldn't bother with Chappie though. District 9 is ok, but I bought Chappie, and even though I got it cheap for £5 on DVD I wish I hadn't bothered.

May I ask what steelbook edition packaging is? More or less what Rodent said. They usually have different artwork to the normal blu-ray release of the same film. :)

For example on Chappie -

Looks fantastic. I wonder though if it's available here in Croatia. I guess I'll order it online. If the price isn't too much for me.

I never saw Tom Hardy, Nat. I mean, it's a film, right? Sorry, but I didn't hear of the other two.

A commentary with Roskam and Lehane
Four deleted scenes which includes optional commentary
Five featurettes - "Keeping It Real" (3:54), which looks at how the story turned into the film, and thoughts on it. "Making of The Drop" (3:45) is self-explanatory, while "Making Brooklyn Your Own" (4:00) looks at bringing the Boston-centric story to New York and the cast's thoughts on same. "Rocco the Dog" (2:21) looks at the meaning of and impact to the movie with the puppy, while "Character Profile: James Gandolfini" (2:11) is a near-remembrance of the actor.

Tom Hardy is an actor. You've probably seen some of his films even if you didn't know it at the time.

nice. Out of curiosity does the commentary describe why they cast a pit bull in the movie but elected to call it a boxer? So weird to me that they didn't call the pit bull a pit bull.
