This was a tough list for me to compile, but I believe the following list of pop/rock bands represents my all-time Top 50 Bands.

I will list them in separate posts starting at number 50 and counting down to 1.

Here goes...

50. BON JOVI
http://media-cache-ak0.pinimg.com/originals/b4/fc/64/b4fc643f438603aaf1adf654ebdf3fb6.jpg
Yes, I know, they're not necessarily the "bad boys" of rock, but they sure have some really infectious songs that span 30+ years.

My favorite songs:
Runaway
Livin' On A Prayer
You Give Love A Bad Name
Bad Medicine
Keep The Faith
In These Arms
Something For The Pain
Lie To Me

Wanted Dead Or Alive

49. HUEY LEWIS & THE NEWS

Growing up in the 80's, there was no escaping the soulful sound and catchy tunes of Huey Lewis and his News.

My favorite songs:
Do You Believe In Love?
If This Is It
I Want A New Drug
Heart And Soul
The Power Of Love
Bad Is Bad
Walking On A Thin Line

Stuck With You

48. COLDPLAY

I've been hooked on Coldplay's music ever since I heard Yellow in 2000. Chris Martin is one of the most gifted singer/songwriters of our time.

My favorite songs:
Yellow
In My Place
Clocks
Speed Of Sound
Paradise
Fix You

I'll never admit to being a Jovi fan, but I probably listened to the cassingle of Blaze of Glory for an entire summer all day long. My sister had New Jersey and I remember how great that sounded sitting in my suicide seat in our Celebrity wagon.

Anyone talks sideways about the News, Robert Stack is putting you on tv. That's pure B2F.

Really nice production value mojo.

A music list I can get on board with. Never been a Huey Lewis fan, but his music is very easy to listen too and sing along with. I like the group, especially the stuff from BTTF. Coldplay is great. If they had been around when I was in HS I would have had them on a loop. I just don't listen to music all that often. I have heard all their albums though, and think they are great.

I quite like Cold play. Not exactly a big fan but I do feel they are one of the most unnecessarily over hated bands.

Nothing that overly pops out at me yet but it's your list, not mine. I love the post design.

I also agree with Camo that Coldplay is unnecessarily over hated. I'm not a huge fan of them, but I never had a problem with them, and was always confused when people said they were terrible or something.

Thumbs up for Bon Jovi and Huey Lewis. Not my all-time favourites, but I do like a few songs/albums of theirs.

Coldplay are alright. I used to hate them, but I was swayed by "The Scientist". Great song.

Do you like Huey Lewis and The News? Their early work was a little too new wave for my tastes, but when Sports came out in '83, I think they really came into their own, commercially and artistically. The whole album has a clear, crisp sound, and a new sheen of consummate professionalism that really gives the songs a big boost. He's been compared to Elvis Costello, but I think Huey has a far more bitter, cynical sense of humor.

Not a fan of Coldplay but I do like The News and Bon Jovi. I also like Lay Your hands on Me from the latter, and I'd say Heart and Soul is my favorite from The News.

Awesome list Mojo!

I'll listen to Bon Jovi any day and way back in the day I remember listening to Huey Lewis and the News a lot! I even seen them in concert they opened for The Police on the Synchronicity tour. Huey and the boys really know how to perform live, they weren't rock stars, they were just a bunch of guys jammin out.

Coldplay!, love their music, it's so poetic and deep.

47. ROXETTE
http://www.radiotopclasica.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/04/roxette_322.jpg
The sultry voice of Marie Fredriksson combined with the smashing guitar and song lyrics of Per Gessle made Swedish musical duo Roxette one of the best pop acts of the late 80's and early 90's.

My favorite songs:
The Look
Dangerous
How Do You Do?
Spending My Time

46. GOO GOO DOLLS
http://i.neoseeker.com/n/3/googoodolls.jpg
To many, the Dolls are a punk rock band that sold out for more radio-friendly tunes and commercial success. To me, one of the best rock bands in the post-grunge 90's music scene.

My favorite songs:

Black Balloon
Broadway
Sympathy
Stay With You
Better Days

I credit my parents for this entry, and for that I am ever so grateful. The soft rock duo from Australia made some of the most beautiful power ballads in the late 70's and 80's.

44. SOUNDGARDEN
http://mewsicknow.files.wordpress.com/2012/11/soundgarden.jpg
Chris Cornell and company were arguably the best alternative rock band of the 90's. Nirvana, Pearl Jam, and R.E.M. fans tend to disagree.

My favorite songs:

Spoonman
Fell On Black Days
Blow Up The Outside World
Black Hole Sun

http://www.feelnumb.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/01/alice-in-chains-original-line-up-LSMS.jpg
There was a time in music history, in the early to mid-90's, when a new rock movement known as Grunge took over the airwaves and charts, and in the forefront of the movement was Alice In Chains, led by the captivating vocals of Layne Staley, who sadly died in 2002.

My favorite songs:

I love Survivor after Jimi Jamison joined the band. I saw them in concert at Westbury Music Fair, which is a small, intimate, theater-in-the-round, and they were amazing. Jimi Jamison even invited a girl on stage to dance with him. (Well, she sort of jumped on stage, but he didn't have her taken off the stage by security, and he let her stay on stage for a while and he danced with her.)

Yes, I know, they are probably the most hated band on the planet, lead singer Rob Thomas might come across as a tool, and their songs have been overplayed like hell, but I've been a loyal fan of MB20 ever since they emerged in 1997.

+rep for picking Parachutes as Coldplay's best album. Sadly it was all downhill from there for them, but I have very fond memories of Parachutes.

Most of these bands I only really know the odd hits. I liked Push from Matchbox 20 when it came out. I didn't know they were a particularly hated band.

I actually like all of Coldplay's albums. A Rush of Blood to the Head was great. X&Y, Mylo Xyloto, and Ghost Stories had a lot of great songs on them. Though I do agree Parachutes is their best outing, hence my pick for favorite album 😊

As for MB20, they are usually dismissed as a band that makes sappy music, and Rob Thomas for going pop, especially with his solo work. Regardless of all that, I appreciate their long list of tunes.

35. THE WHO
http://acervo.oglobo.globo.com/incoming/10544375-e97-15b/imagemHorizontalFotogaleria/foto2.jpg
The Who is probably the first band on my list so far that were huge before my time. As a college student, my taste in music expanded into classic rock. Out of all the bands that I explored and became a big fan of, what I admired most about The Who was their rebellious lyrics and "f%$#-all" attitude, along with Roger Daltrey's swagger at the mic and Pete Townsend's unique guitar playing and on-stage antics, not to mention Keith Moon, who is by far one of the greatest drummers in rock history.

http://wfiles.brothersoft.com/t/the-cranberries-image_149939-1600x1200.jpg
The 90's were special times, particularly on the musical side. The alluring sound of Irish band The Cranberries' music that revolved around lyrics that were politically-charged or based on social narratives, led by an amazing songbird named Dolores O'Riordan -who, in my opinion, is one of the greatest female rock singers of all time -made the final decade of the millennium all the more beautiful and nostalgic.

My favorite songs:

I have a history with that album. I have probably listened to the entire thing a thousand times. Every song on that album is a masterpiece, hence the long list of songs off the album that I included as my favorite songs :)

33. CREEDANCE CLEARWATER REVIVAL
http://www.revistafreim.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/08/Creedence-Clearwater-Revival3.jpg
The second band on my list so far that were huge before my time. American rock band Creedance Clearwater Revival's, or CCR as they are known to their fans, unique blend of blues and southern rock spiced with politically and socially-conscious lyrics, and the incredible vocals by John Fogerty, made them one of the most relevant bands of the Vietnam War/Hippy era in the late 60's and early 70's.

http://rockstarwallpapers10.net/wp-content/uploads/images/c9/red-hot-chili-peppers-1.jpg
Since the 90's, the Chili Peppers, or RHCP as they are commonly referred to, have been making classic hits. Their most frequent band members have all made names for themselves. Anthony Kiedis is an amazing singer. John Frusciante, in my humble opinion, is one of the best guitarists in history. Flea is not only an animated bass player, but a talented actor (he had a minor role in the Back To The Future films). Chad Smith (the guy who people often mistake for comedian Will Ferrell) is possibly one of the greatest drummers who ever lived. Personally, I really started to appreciate them in 2000 when I heard the album Californication, and was impressed with their 2006 outing Stadium Arcadium. They are, by all means, one of America's greatest rock bands.

My favorite songs:

REO Speedwagon was the first rock band that I remember becoming a fan of in the early 80's, thanks to my parents. These guys wrote some of the best and most uplifting power ballads that have stood the test of time.

http://images4.fanpop.com/image/photos/22400000/Metallica-metallica-22465452-1250-870.jpg
If you were to compile lists for greatest vocalists, guitarists, bassists, and drummers, you're bound to find each member of metal/rock band Metallica on them. James Hetfield, Lars Ulrich, Kirk Hammett, and past members Jason Newsted, Dave Mustaine, and Cliff Burton are legendary in their own right. I honestly didn't become a fan of Metallica until 1991, the time where Newsted was on bass, when I was introduced to the "Black Album". I understand that their earlier work from the 80's is, according to their loyal fans, more hardcore, and that after their massive commercial success in 1991, Metallica became more alternative rock than a heavy metal band. Regardless of all that, they remain to be one of the greatest American rock bands in history.

http://cdn0.lostateminor.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/11/heart-650x425.jpg
Heart rocked the world in the mid to late 70's, peaked in the 80's, and managed to stay relevant throughout the early 90's before fading into obscurity after the rise of Grunge. For 3 decades, the band, led by rocker sisters Ann Wilson, in my opinion one of the greatest female vocalists in music history, and Nancy Wilson, the sexiest and most electrifying female guitar player ever, delivered a string of infectious rock classics.

In the 90's, a rock revival took place, and Seattle, Washington became the capital of the revolution. One of the prevalent leaders of the movement, known as Grunge, was Eddie Vedder and his band Pearl Jam. 3 decades later, Pearl Jam is still as relevant as it was then, banging out instant classics, the most recent being the 2013 album Lightning Bolt, which, in my opinion, rivals their amazing debut album Ten.

nah i was just too busy praising the world's goverments and co-stars who get along. I like Plant, the sharpest voice, although he was arrogant. Page a great guitarist, but I've always prefered Fender to Gibson, and he only played it on Stairway, I think. I also heard he's some sort of occultist and even satanist, as is pherhabs Plant. It's officially known Lyrics to Stairway have hidden satanistic meanings, but I respect it for its philosophy. Bonzo is I think the best, although Baker could do what even he couldn't. I don't particulary like any of their songs, but my favee has always been Kashmir.

All in all, not my fave band, glad to see not higher than 23.

The English pop/rock duo, consisting of the very talented musicianship of Roland Orzabal and Curt Smith, released anthem-like hand raising tunes during the 80's, and managed to stay relevant well into the 90's when they switched to a more experimental and alternative rock style of music. Over a few decades, TFF, as their loyal fans refer to them as, banged out a respectable set of massive hit singles that are considered timeless classics today.

My favorite songs:

Shout
Head Over Heels

TFF were a very important part of my teen years as well, which is why I ranked them higher than most other bands on my list.

I remember first hearing Shout at a time when I was a fan of the typical easy-listening pop songs, and realizing then the true power of song. It was like a revolutionary experience for me

I only care for their first three albums, but man are those good ones.

I think Metallica's pretty weird in that everybody knows them, yet their early music was bay area thrash metal of the type played by bands like Exodus and Overkill, bands that nobody knows except metal heads. It's really strange to me why Metallica's first four albums sold like 50 times more than any other thrash metal albums (each selling over 5 million units in the US, other thrash metal albums sold like 50,000 units, with luck). They don't actually sound very different from albums from way less popular bands, both in terms of quality and style. Well, I guess there is something called luck. Also, the production of Metallica's albums was better than most thrash bands at the time.

Before I begin posting my Top 20, I'd like to note that you might find some surprises as to bands, that are considered some of the greatest by so many people and critics, that did not make the list. Their exclusion doesn't necessarily mean I dislike them, it just means I liked 50 other bands more :)

If I were to compile a Top 100, those bands, that you are likely going to wonder, or probably be shocked, why they are not mentioned anywhere in my list, will definitely be included.

Anyways, the last stretch of my Top 50 countdown, beginning at number 20, will start shortly...stay tuned!

I hope you enjoy them and approve to their greatness

20. RADIOHEAD
https://consequenceofsound.files.wordpress.com/2014/01/radiohead.jpg?w=1200
Ever since they emerged onto the mainstream music scene in the mid 90's, British band Radiohead has managed to do what other bands of their generation and country have not, and that is successfully cross over from the Grunge-inspired rock sound to a more experimental, electronic, and psychedelic sound, and all the while maintaining their haunting elusiveness.

18. GREEN DAY
http://www.justmusic.fr/wp-content/uploads/2012/09/green-day.jpgIn the mid 90's, punk rock witnessed a resurgence thanks to vocalist and guitarist Billie Joe Armstrong, bassist Mike Dirnt, and drummer Tre Cool as the California trio Green Day. The band managed to keep making popular hit singles well into the late 90's before reviving the rock opera concept album, reminiscent of The Who's Tommy and Pink Floyd's The Wall, in the mid to late 2000's and cementing themselves as legends.

My favorite songs:

17. THE EAGLES
http://geekshizzle.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/04/eagles-then.jpg American rock band The Eagles were by far the most accomplished band in the 70's. To many people, they are the greatest band in history, citing their first Greatest Hits album in 1976 for being the best-selling album of all time in the US, going toe to toe with Michael Jackson's Thriller, as proof to the statement. There's also no denying that what Don Henley, Glenn Frey, Joe Walsh, Randy Meisner, and Timothy Schmidt achieved together resulted in some of the most powerful songs ever.

Since then, the band's lead singer and bassist Sting has become an international superstar solo artist, while drummer Stewart Copeland and guitarist Andy Summers have become movie score composers. R.E.M. is considered to be one of the pioneers of the alternative rock genre. In fact, bands like Nirvana consider the Atlanta, Georgia group to be their inspiration. It's only fitting that they are included in my list of Top 20 Bands. Together, Michael Stipe, Peter Buck, Mike Mills, and Bill Berry have written and produced some of the greatest songs over the past 4 decades. It's The End Of The World As We Know It (And I Feel Fine)

12. GENESIS
http://pastdaily.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/01/Genesis-Knebworth-1978.jpg I would be a liar if I said I was a fan of English progressive rock band Genesis when Peter Gabriel was their frontman. I mean no disrespect to Gabriel, though. I believe he is a great musician and I love his solo material. However, when he left the band in the late 70's and Phil Collins, who is by far one of the greatest drummers and singer/songwriters of all time, took over the reigns of being the lead singer and drummer, the band, that also consisted of talented musicians Mike Rutherford and Tony Banks, was elevated into the stratosphere. I grew up listening to Phil Collins, both as a solo artist and the leader of Genesis, and I loved everything he did.

Within a short time span of about 5 years, between 1987 and 1992, these legendary American rockers ruled the music world with their high-octane and powerful smash hit singles. Unlike all the other 80's hair bands, Guns N' Roses wrote some seriously grand epics that elevated them to a whole new level of greatness. Recently, there's been reports that Axl and Slash, who've been in a very public feud since they parted ways more than 20 years ago, are on talking terms again. Hopefully, my wish of seeing them live will finally be realized.

Many people forget that before the legendary Australian band became the Kings of Disco in the 70's, and before the high-pitched falsettos, brothers Barry, Maurice, and Robin Gibb were a group of Beatles-inspired soft rock musicians who wrote and sang conventional and straight-out rock songs. The American stadium rock group was graced with the amazing voice of Steve Perry, who in my opinion is THE greatest vocalist in music history, the incendiary guitar work of Neal Schon, who in my opinion is one of the most underrated guitarists in music history, and the captivating keyboards of Jonathon Cain. Together, these guys wrote some of the best songs of the last 5 decades. I like to call them a historically significant band simply because they've made some very important politically-charged anthems that were specifically about the conflict in Northern Ireland, but were also universal messages of peace. I don't believe we've had a band like U2 that has had such a cultural impact since The Beatles. And not since the Fab Four has a band of four individuals (lead singer Bono, guitarist The Edge, bassist Adam Clayton, and drummer Larry Mullen) that have each managed to gain superstar status. Of course, not all their songs were political or social commentaries. They also had their power ballads and pop songs over the years. I was a casual fan of U2 throughout most of my life, and it wasn't until I watched their 3D concert show at the Rock n' Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland about 5 years ago that I was truly mind-blown by their long list of classics and true greatness.

My favorite songs:

New Year's Day

I've never gotten into The Rolling Stones as much as others did, but I like a few of their songs and Sticky Fingers is a good album.

Bee Gees would be top 20 for me. The amount of amazing songs to their name is staggering.

I like a Journey a lot, but they're very much a singles band to me. A lot of strong singles, but their albums are generally pretty mediocre.

U2 are great as well, but I need to check out more of their stuff before I can call them a favourite of mine.

Solid top ten so far

6. NIRVANA
http://kendalllacey.files.wordpress.com/2013/03/nirvana.jpgIn the early 90's, a rock revolution occurred that shook the very foundation of the music industry. The revolution was known as Grunge, and it's capital was Seattle, Washington. Leading the movement was Nirvana, headed by an extremely talented songwriter, guitarist, and singer named Kurt Cobain, who eventually became the voice of his generation, delivering anthems of teen angst. Also in the band was bassist Krist Novoselic, and, future Foo Fighters frontman and legitimate rock star, drummer Dave Grohl. The band only lasted 4 years before Cobain committed suicide, ending an important era in music history.

5. THE DOORS
http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/6/60/Doors_electra_publicity_photo.JPG
In 1967, American rock band The Doors arrived on the scene, and for a very short time, 4 years to be exact, before legendary lead singer, and passionate songwriter and poet, Jim Morrison, who is by far one of the greatest vocalists in history, was found dead in a Paris hotel bathtub at the age of 27, the band, Morrison to be specific, was the center of so much controversy, and a strong following during the Vietnam War and Hippy eras of the late 60's that they inspired filmmaker Oliver Stone, himself a Vietnam War veteran, to make a movie about them about 25 years later. During the short run at global success, The Doors, which also included keyboardist Ray Manzarek, guitarist Robby Krieger, and drummer John Densmore, released some of the biggest classic songs and albums of all time.

My favorite songs:
Light My Fire
The Crystal Ship
Love Me Two Times
The End
People Are Strange
Hello, I Love You

4. PINK FLOYD
http://www.wallpapers4u.org/wp-content/uploads/pink_floyd_band_members_youth_hair_2437_1920x1080.jpg
I discovered British rock giants Pink Floyd in 1994 when my friend introduced me to them by repeatedly playing their albums. At the time, I developed a mysterious kind of "artistic awakening", as I'd like to call it, because the music Roger Waters, Dave Gilmour, Nick Mason, and Richard Wright made was like nothing I had ever heard before. Their live concert album and video Pulse became my obsession that year. Pink Floyd is truly one of the most amazing bands that has come into existence.

My favorite songs:
Shine On You Crazy Diamond
Money

Us And Them
The Thin Ice
Mother
Hey You
Nobody Home
Comfortably Numb

3. FOO FIGHTERS
http://media.idownloadblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/11/Foo-Fighters-band-1024x816.jpg Following the death of Kurt Cobain, Nirvana drummer Dave Grohl began a solo career under the fake name of "Foo Fighters", writing and singing his own songs, and playing guitar, bass, and drums on all the tracks. Soon afterwards, he settled as a lead singer and guitarist, and recruited some very talented musicians, including drummer Taylor Hawkins, who is by far one of the greatest drummers of our time, former Nirvana session rhythm guitar player Pat Smear, bassist Nate Mendel, and lead guitarist Chris Shiflett to make up the now real band with the same name. If you would have asked me 5 years ago, the Foo Fighters would have probably been somewhere at the bottom of my Top 50. But then, the album Wasting Light dropped in 2011, and completely blew me away. Since then, I thoroughly explored the band's back catalog, and, within months, I ended up having all of their albums and officially became a Foo Fighters fanatic. Dave Grohl is without a doubt the biggest rock star on the planet today. During their latest tour, he broke his leg, but that did not stop him or the band from keeping the show on the road. Within 20 years the Foo Fighters has managed to reach rock royalty status (in my opinion, exceeding the level of accomplishment of Dave's former band Nirvana), putting Dave and company right up there with the greats, and I do mean Led Zeppelin, The Doors, The Rolling Stones, Pink Floyd, and The Beatles. Their long and respectable lists of amazing songs and incredible albums speak for themselves.

My favorite songs:
Big Me
I'll Stick Around
Monkey Wrench
Everlong
My Hero
Learn To Fly
Breakout
Next Year
Generator
Headwires
All My Life
Halo
Best Of You
On The Mend

In 2011, I uploaded all of their songs on my iPod and that was all I heard for a few months. The material that these guys have made is just as good as any other legendary band in history, hence their high ranking in my list. Plus, Dave Grohl is the kind of guy you can't hate. 2. OASIS
http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-z0M5OxJGJow/Tl52eWKoNRI/AAAAAAAAEGE/ZOB1ue_w9YM/s1600/oasis.jpg
http://whatisplayinginmyitunes.files.wordpress.com/2012/08/oasis.jpeg When British band Oasis emerged in 1994, the music scene in England was lacking the excitement and authenticity not seen since the rock heydays of the 60's and 70's. The Manchester, England band, consisting of the two founding members, brothers Liam Gallagher, who is by far one of the greatest vocalists in music history, and Noel Gallagher, the band's chief lyricist, guitarist, and occasional vocalist, (in my opinion, Noel is easily THE greatest songwriter of his generation), along with the band's original lineup of Paul McGuigan (a.k.a. Guigsy) on bass, Paul Arthurs (a.k.a. Bonehead) on rhythm guitar, and Alan White on drums (the original drummer Tony McCarroll was sacked just as the band's first album was released). Guigsy and Bonehead would later be replaced with accomplished musicians Andy Bell and Gem Archer respectively in 2000. Alan White was replaced with Ringo Starr's song Zak Starkey in 2004 and then with session player Chris Sharrock in 2008. In 1994, the band, led by the relentlessly funny and outspoken Gallagher siblings, singlehandedly revived rock music in their home country before importing their swagger to the USA and the world a year later. Their confidence and sometimes cocky attitude, extremely catchy and infectious tunes won them a huge following around the world. Their self-proclaimed status as being the "best band in the world" was true. Oasis are considered the most important rock band that has come out of the England since The Beatles and The Rolling Stones. It's too bad they kind of fell off the map in America for most of the 2000's until their breakup in 2009, but it was America's loss really. What can I say? I'm still "mad for it"!

My favorite songs:

Married With Children
Rock 'N Roll Star

Before I reveal my Number 1 favorite band, which I'm sure most of you know what it will be, and conclude my nearly month-long thread, I would like to share some bands that barely cracked my Top 50. Maybe the following list will help you in figuring out who my Number 1 is if you haven't got a clue yet... :)

Whether the frontman was David Lee Roth or Sammy Hagar, Eddie Van Halen was always on guitar, and the music was great. The song Jump was one of my favorite songs growing up. But I was never a hardcore fan, unfortunately.

THE CARS

If I were to list my Top 100, these guys would be at Number 51. Growing up, I was blown away by their massive singles. Songs like Magic, Drive, Just What I Needed, My Best Friend's Girl, Shake It Up, and You Might Think are on the soundtrack of my life.

Starship were one of my favorites growing up. They would definitely land at number 52 on my list of 100. I just love songs like Nothing's Gonna Stop Us Now, We Built This City, and Sara. I later learned that the band were a 2nd generation of 60's hippy band Jefferson Airplane, the band behind such classics as Somebody To Love, White Rabbit, and Volunteers.

TAKE THAT
http://static.guim.co.uk/sys-images/Guardian/About/General/2010/11/1/1288605811021/take-that-006.jpg
Before I discovered Oasis, I was a big fan of Britain's, specifically Manchester, England's, ultimate boy band Take That. I might call them a guilty pleasure today, but back then they were banging out great songs that they wrote themselves, mostly by the group's de facto leader Gary Barlow, which distinguished them from all other boy bands before and after as true artists. I just love songs like Back For Good, Why Can't I Wake Up With You, Never Forget, Shine, Reach Out, Up All Night, The Flood, and Pretty Things. Besides, if it weren't for them, we would not have had England's greatest entertainer of the past 3 decades, Mr. Robbie Williams.

DIRE STRAITS

THE BANGLES
http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-B08V8OP7Gyw/TsWgFOzuXuI/AAAAAAAALpw/3J4VQ952_28/s1600/The%252BBangles.jpg
The Bangles were the ultimate badass all-girl rock band of the 80's. They would land at Number 53 on my Top 100. Songs like Walk Like An Egyptian, Eternal Flame, and Manic Monday are timeless classics.

THE GO-GO'S
http://images2.fanpop.com/image/photos/13900000/The-Go-Go-s-go-gos-13957770-500-334.jpg
Aside from the fact that this band launched the careers of Belinda Carlisle and Jane Wiedlin, the all-girl rock group released some great songs in the 80's including We Got The Beat, Our Lips Are Sealed, and Vacation.

THE VERVE
http://www.nme.com/images/gallery/1998NMEAwardsVerve021111.jpg
In the years following the death of Kurt Cobain and the end of the Grunge era in 1994, there was another rock revolution called Britpop. British bands, influenced by the popularity of Oasis and Blur, began emerging in big numbers, some lasted for decades (Radiohead, Coldplay), and others made a big splash before vanishing, and The Verve was a good example. Even though Richard Ashcroft and company had been around for years, and had headlined a show in which Oasis were a supporting act at one point, they did not reach worldwide acclaim until they released the incredible Urban Hymns in 1997. Songs like Bittersweet Symphony, Sonnet, The Drugs Don't Work, The Rolling People, and Lucky Man are timeless classics.

BLUR

Damon Albarn and company helped define Britpop in the mid-90's with incredible songs, and continued to deliver classics well into the 2000's. Country House, The Universal, Beetlebum, Tender, Song 2, and Girls & Boys are just some of the hits to their credit.

1. THE BEATLES
http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-qLeaUF29DLs/UAetVKrtH5I/AAAAAAAAAJA/-7Lc9rJap7E/s1600/The+Beatles.jpg
It should come as no surprise that the 4 boys from Liverpool, England are at the top of my list (I guess my John Lennon avatar kind of gave that away). The Beatles are, without a shred of a doubt, the greatest band in history. What the Fab Four achieved in 6 years of international fame, beginning when they conquered America and the world in 1964, has not been and never will be repeated or duplicated by any other band until the end of time. Not only did John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison, and Ringo Starr make some really exciting and amazing music together, and impacted the way kids dressed and styled their hair, but they defined an era; an era that has surpassed generations keeping Beatlemania alive 50 years on and counting. My father was a fan, and I remember having a greatest hits compilation of theirs on vinyl as a child. But I did not fully discover them until 1995, which was the time I was introduced to bands like Oasis, and began expanding my musical horizon beyond the cheesy pop and dance music of the time. My obsession with the Beatles eventually led me to picking up the guitar and writing my own songs a few years later.

My favorite songs:
Love Me Do
I Saw Her Standing There
Twist And Shout
I Want To Hold Your Hand
I Feel Fine
All I've Got To Do
I Should Have Known Better
If I Fell
And I Love Her
No Reply
Help!
The Night Before
Norwegian Wood (This Bird Has Flown)
Nowhere Man
In My Life
I'm Only Sleeping
Taxman
Here, There And Everywhere
With A Little Help From My Friends
Getting Better
A Day In The Life
Happiness Is A Warm Gun
I'm So Tired
Dear Prudence
Mother Nature's Son
Revolution
Hey Bulldog
All You Need Is Love
Baby You're A Rich Man
Your Mother Should Know
Come Together
While My Guitar Gently Weeps
You Never Give Me Your Money/Sun King/Mean Mr. Mustard/Polythene Pam/She Came In Through The Bathroom Window
Golden Slumbers/Carry That Weight/The End
