Well, I've gone over the character lists of all 3 Predator movies, and there's only 23 main characters across all 3...


Here's how I rank them (still doing write-ups, bare with me).

Danny Trejo as Cuchillo - Predators

Doesn’t do a lot apart from threaten Adrian Brody at the start and talk about putting people in an oil drum and lighting them on fire, so sadly, even though Trejo is a cool guy, he comes last in 23rd place.
He does have a relatively memorable death though when the Predator uses his voice to freak out Isabelle.

Laurence Fishburne as Noland - Predators

I found this guy a little annoying tbh, but almost in a good way. He also has more to do than Trejo so takes one spot higher. Fishburne makes a good anti-hero though while talking to his imaginary friend and gives the group something to work against.

Mahershalalhashbaz Ali as Mombasa - Predators

Has a faux mysticism about him and has at least some substance to his character. Ali makes a decent character that although isn’t in the movie for long, you actually feel a bit sad when he bites the bullet. He has a memorable and pretty painful looking death too.

Adam Baldwin as Garber - Predator 2

Garber isn’t seen a huge amount, but his presence is undeniable, just like almost every other role that Baldwin has played. This is why he appears higher than other background characters like Trejo and Ali. He’s also pretty badass when he wants to be when he stands up to Danny Glover.

Topher Grace as Edwin - Predators

Annoying little turd of a character but played really well by Topher. He’s the lowest ranked lead character in the list simply because he’s a hero you don’t like, and then a villain you don’t like.

Walton Goggins as Stans - Predators

Deranged rapist and serious weirdo, Goggins is in his element with such a crazy character. He’s also the kind of anti-hero, which is nice because you actually like the character and, like Ali, you feel bad when he bites the bullet. His death is the most memorable of the 3rd film though. 5 O’clock is also his favourite time.

Shane Black as Rick Hawkins - Predator

The first and original Predator kill. Hawkins death was the scene that put the whole audience on the backfoot and drives the plot for about 20 minutes of the movie. Shane Black’s jokes were totally over the top and made the character a lot more likeable.

Alice Braga as Isabelle - Predators

One of few women in the trilogy, Braga makes a likeable female lead but doesn’t make it any higher, simply because there’s other female roles that are, well, better. She’s pretty cool though and tough, and carries a kinder more gentle side at times too.

Adrien Brody as Royce - Predators

The main hero of the 3rd movie, Royce/Brody was a bit of a surprise seeing as Brody isn’t exactly an action hero. It’s a good turn from Brody though, a decent actor thrown into the action scene and makes good at the end with a one on one fist fight with the Super-Predator.

Elpidia Carrillo as Anna - Predator

The original lassie from the trilogy. Carrillo makes for a good femme fatale who then becomes a scared damsel in distress before rediscovering her tough side, trying to shoot at the Predator and barking orders at Schwarzenegger while they’re dragging an injured Poncho through the jungle.

Gary Busey as Special Agent Peter Keyes - Predator 2

Ah, the enigmatic Gary Busey as a guy who you don’t like, then like, then love. Busey’s Mr Keyes is also a badass, kick-ass Government Agent with an agenda and is more than capable of standing toe to toe with the Predator 2 hero Danny Glover.

Bill Duke as Mac Eliot - Predator

Mac is not just cool, but also dangerous… he then loses his mind and actually goes after the unstoppable Predator by himself. His death is pretty quick though, kinda anticlimactic, which was a shame. Bill Duke’s best role to date too.

Ruben Blades as Detective Danny Archuleta - Predator 2

Danny Boy is by far one of the most likeable characters in the trilogy and Blades is also one of the smoothest and coolest actors on board as well. He also has a death scene that’s not just memorable, but also a pivotal scene in the story.

Carl Weathers as George Dillon - Predator

Dillon was a secretive guy whose purpose, when it was revealed, made you hate him. He then redeems himself by going after Mac… and has another one of those memorable deaths in the 1st film too.

María Conchita Alonso as Detective Leona Cantrell - Predator 2

Sexy, tough and funny, Leona gets the highest spot out of the female leads simply because, well, it’s Alonso. The intelligence and toughness played by Alonso also makes you root for her as she’s shooting the crap out of drug dealers and threatening to pop Bill Paxton’s balls.

Louis Ozawa Changchien as Hanzo - Predators

Hanzo makes a high appearance on the list as he gave an almost totally silent performance. He’s memorable for being slick, cool and deadly with a sword and gave us the fight we all wish we could have seen between Billy and the Predator.

Danny Glover as Lieutenant Mike Harrigan - Predator 2

Total hardass hero with only a couple soft spots, one was for his bro Danny Boy, and the other for Leona. Danny Glover is the epitome of the phrase “tough-cop” and is totally unbending in his quest to find his pal’s murderer.

Richard Chaves as Jorge "Poncho" Ramirez - Predator

Poncho was simply just a cool looking character, and Chaves was pretty smooth too in the role. Poncho then refuses to give up, even after he’s been busted up by one of his own traps and sadly, dies when the Pred takes a cheap shot when he wasn’t looking.

Arnold Schwarzenegger as Major Alan "Dutch" Schaefer - Predator

The first main hero of the trilogy, Dutch was a muscles out Major of the soldiers that introduced us to the Predator. He also had a human side and was, quite understandably, peeved when he realised his men had been used by Dillon. He then goes all out and fights hand to hand with the Pred and beats it using nothing but “Boy Scout Bullsh*t”.

Bill Paxton as Detective Jerry Lambert - Predator 2

Wannabe ladies’ man and serial bullsh*tter who starts out annoying the hell out of you. “Lone Ranger” Lambert starts making good within his role in the story by simply being a damned good Detective. Paxton makes Predator 2 much more fun though by having a little free reign with the role. He then goes out with a bang by chucking a golf ball at the Pred and then running at it with a machete.

Oleg Taktarov as Nikolai - Predators

The highest spot for the 3rd movie. Nikolai is the best of the characters in that he’s not just super tough, but also the kindest of the bunch. He sacrifices himself to save Edwin after swearing almost a blood pact when Edwin stops him from getting poisoned by a deadly plant. He’s also a family man, and proud of his Son. And he gets to say “You’re one ugly Motherf*cker” to a Predator too.

Jesse Ventura as Blain Cooper - Predator

Blain! The original mini-gun toting badass who chomps tobacco and has no time to bleed. Blain, the toughest of the bunch is basically sucker-punched by the Predator while his back is turned but during the film, he takes out countless bad guys in the big firefight with enemy soldiers. Ventura was also a real life soldier, which made Blain stand out from the bunch.

Sonny Landham as Billy Sole - Predator

My #1 spot goes to Landham… a guy so tough he needed a bodyguard on set… not for his own protection though; it was to protect the other cast members from him. Surrounded by the likes of Schwarzenegger, Weathers, Duke and Ventura and they were still worried about him hurting people. The toughness of Landham shines through in Billy, and when he says he’s scared, it really nails home that these guys are toast. He also has that mysticism about him and that laugh. He also just looks badass and cool.

I've read a bit about Sonny Landham too, that guy is supposed to be the real deal.

He was actually the first guy I thought of when I saw the thread. Gotta love "The Body" too.

Heh! That's why I had him in second place. Blain is total badass, especially being the first time we see a handheld mini-gun. Ventura said in the interviews that he enjoyed the film because they all got put through basic training with an instructor and he found it piss easy and was laughing at all the other so-called athletes struggling with it.

Excellent end to the list! Though I would have had Dutch higher. But major props for putting Maria Conchita Alonso in the top 10. Loved her in Predator 2!
