Wow, I figured he was dead already for some reason.
"Stand by Me" won the Movie Soundtrack Song Tournament. Nominated by Derek Vinyard.

R.I.P. He really was nothing short of a legend. Stand By Me is one of the greatest songs ever. Bar none.

He was also a member of The Drifters early in his career.

Oh man, loved Ben E. King. He was one of the lead singers of the old soul group, The Drifters. Some of my favorites by him as a Drifter were "This Magic Moment" and "Save the Last Dance for Me."
I loved his solo stuff, too, with "Spanish Harlem," "Stand By Me," and "I Who Have Nothing."
Truly a great loss. Godspeed, Ben.

Did not know that. The Drifters was the runner-up for the Sweatin' to the Oldies Song Tournament with their song, "Under the Boardwalk." Nominated by The Sci-Fi Slob. Both that tournament and Movie Soundtrack Song Tournament were ran by me.
