i felt this movie was so unsettling from the first minute, it's a great film, probably the best horror sequel yet, what do you think?

Wow, nobody's answered you yet. I loved The Exorcist 3. William Peter Blatty wrote and directed one of my Top Ten favorite movies, The Ninth Configuration (which I highly recommend), so when I heard that he was adapting his own novel for filming, I was jazzed. I saw it the first week of release and loved it. Even though Lee J. Cobb was fine in the original The Exorcist as Lt. Kinderman, I felt George C. Scott did a great job filling the role.

I loved the dialogue and the direction, and the movie was very tense throughout. How awesome was the "jolt" scene that took place during the long, drawn-out shot in the hospital hallway? Not much in movies makes me jump, but that did!

The conversations between Kinderman and Father Dyer (Ed Flanders) were hilarious. I love how Blatty mixes humor and drama together. Brad Dourif was excellent in his role as a certain mysterious character. And the twist at the end was great.

All-in-all, a fine movie that I feel was drastically overlooked.

What do you think of the Exorcist 2? Most of the feeback I've heard on that one is that it was awful, and from what parts of the movie I did see I agree

I just saw this the other day. I gave it a 7.5/10. It's a good movie that was one script revision (albeit a majorly substantive one) and a director swap away from being truly great. Blatty can't seem to properly stage scenes or properly frame shots (or choose the appropriate distance between the camera and the action), but still worked reasonably well. It seems like the kind of film that Argento could have really gone to town with.

As for he best horror sequels, I can think of a lot more that I prefer to this:

Hellbound: Hellraiser II
Hellraiser III: Hell on Earth
Hellraiser Revelations
A Nightmare on Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors
Dawn of the Dead
Bride of Chucky
Return of the Living Dead 3
Insidious: Chapter 2
Paranormal Activity 2
Paranormal Activity 3

I like Exorcist III just fine. I would rate it 3_5

I haven't seen this for a long time but I remember being pleasantly surprised by it. I'll have to see it again before I could give it an honest rating, but as far as sequels go, it's one of the few good ones.
