What? no Spencer's Mountain:( Did anybody even watch it? Or considerate it?

I'm not surprise about #1. I'm surprised that #2 is so high. I'm shocked that number #8 made the list.

(I'm not complaining I like those films!)

I have actually seen 6, but i cant really remember From Russia With Love from the other Bond films.

The other 5 i have seen is Contempt, 8½, The Birds, The Great Escape and The Haunting. I have High and Low lying around so i should probably see that at one point.

I watched Spencer's Mountain a while back. As I recall, the scenery in the film was beautiful, but the movie was only okay. I'm not surprised that it didn't make the list.

That's pretty close to what I expected to see on the list.

The only three movies that I haven't seen on the list are High and Low, 8-1/2, and Contempt. My guess is that they're all foreign (non-english) films.

Me neither. I know I liked Russia with Love but can't remember the details.

I've seen:
1. Hud
2. The Birds
3. Charade
4. The Great Escape
5. From Russia With Love
8. It’s a Mad, Mad, Mad World
9. The Haunting

Cricket, I've never heard of The Silence, This Sporting Life, and Shock Corridor. I should look them up.

Most of my choices made it, but not all. 101 Hello, Can we reveal our first list now?

Deadline is a week from now. You can reveal your list.

I figured that delaying one more week is kinda pointless as I already know the winner from the nominees list, I'm just going to reveal and allow the 60s tournament to continue.

The Winner is (with a 42 point total)....

HUD

oh is that it? I never even voted on the final 10. Does that mean Hud was so far ahead that anyone else voting wouldn't have affected it?

Am I wrong in assuming that a 1st place vote nets a film 5 points? If not, then at least 9 people would've had to have voted for Hud already, only a couple days into voting. That doesn't seem realistic. Naming a winner isn't the only objective here either; it's also to get people to watch these movies. What this says is don't bother watching the movies because your vote doesn't matter. What if someone ordered a couple DVDs to watch this weekend, like I normally do for these tournaments? Outrageous!

I based the final votes off the nominees list, Hud had the most votes in total. 12 people sent in lists, I think that's a fair assessment without needing to go into final voting. I'm sorry if someone ordered DVDs for the event, I was under the impression everyone "obtained" their copies. Chill out cricket, 1964 coming up, party like it's your last day on earth.

Yes.

cricket
12-11-14, 05:56 PM
Did you take into account that people will have to vote for movies they didn't vote for before? Or the fact that some people will be voting for movies they hadn't seen yet when they submitted their original 10 nominations? By your logic, there's no point in having a second round, which is what happened.

Rauld is taking over, but there is no reason why Rauld can't do the second round of 1963 correctly like it was supposed to be done.

I think we should still continue with 1963 and send our top five to Rauld. I also think that Rauld should continue on with all the years until JJ is ready to take back over, if he wants to. That way it will be done consistently every time.

rauldc14

Godoggo
12-12-14, 12:36 AM
Thanks, Rauld. :) Who knows, Hud still may be the winner, but I think without the second round it will feel unfinished.

Not trying to beat you up, Hello, but there could have been a lot of difference in the way people handled the first round if they had believed that to be the only one.

I'm not exactly sure what you mean, but changing the rules mid game is going to be upsetting to people. Those things are usually discussed among the group to see how everyone feels.

Also if this game is played with only one round we are going to have a lot of winners that not everyone has seen. With two rounds everyone has time to watch the top ten if they choose to. It makes people more invested in the game if they have an opinion on the winner one way or another.

Right I've watched High and Low now . That must've been on quite a few lists to have made an appearance on the top 10. Who voted for it? I nearly gave up on it, but it came alive once they left the apartment with all the moody men and got into the action , it was a decent detective film

Did no one else vote for Jason and the Argonauts?

No it wouldn't. I've already taken my time to make my list, I don't wish to do it again. Besides many people won't be re-submitting their list to you, which then blows the results of the Top 5. Just message 101 and tell him to send the list.

Better yet...Hello 101...you asked for the privilege of running the 1963 movies, so now you need to take responsibility and message all the ranked top 5 list to rauldc, so he can finish the job.

The deadline for this is December 19, right?

I've been very busy because of the holiday season, so I haven't had much time to watch movies this week, especially movies with subtitles, but it should slow down in the next day or two, so I should be able to watch the last 3 movies this week.

GBG, which list do you mean?

The list for 1964 has a deadline of Jan 1st (I think?)

The other list was the resubmitting of your 5 choices from the 10 nominations of 1963. (Rauldc said he would finish the 1963 list for Hello101)

I should be okay with both deadline dates. I only have a few movies left for the 1963 list, and I've already located the movies.

I've been re-watching the 1964 movies that I've seen many times, so I don't have to pay as much attention to them as I do to movies that I've never seen.

I started early with my 1964 list, so I've already re-watched Fail-Safe, Mary Poppins, Marnie, My Fair Lady, Man's Favorite Sport?, Send Me No Flowers, Kiss Me, Stupid, and What a Way To Go, so I'm in good shape for the 1964 list already.

The #1 movie on these lists always seems to be too predictable.

This was my original top ten list for 1963:
1) Sunday in New York (Jane Fonda, Rod Taylor, Cliff Robertson)
2) Charade (Cary Grant, Audrey Hepburn)
3) Bye Bye Birdie (Dick Van Dyke, Janet Leigh, Ann-Margret)
4) The Thrill of It All (Doris Day, James Garner)
5) It's a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World (Milton Berle, Sid Caesar, and many more)
6) Move Over, Darling (Doris Day, James Garner)
7) The Pink Panther (David Niven, Peter Sellers)
8) The Sword in the Stone (Walt Disney)
9) The Prize (Paul Newman, Elke Sommer, Edward G. Robinson)
10) Captain Newman, M.D. (Gregory Peck, Tony Curtis)

You'll notice that most of my top ten wasn't even nominated, so I had to completely redo my list for the top five portion.

Then, this was my top five list from the MoFo top ten nominees:
1) Charade
2) It's a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World
3) High and Low
4) The Birds
5) From Russia With Love
