All it is that he was a member of a secret political party, and they put him in a Siberian labour camp for four years. He wrote "House of the Dead". I think he put all his memoirs in that.

I like Dostoyevsky, Russian literature is one of the few areas of lit that hasn't yet been tainted by my degree. I love Poor Folk but I must admit I'm way more into Latin american literature. Did you see Ayoade's version of The Double?

And yeah, I'm Becca, I'm an English student, I like Wes Anderson films lots and my favourite film is probably Fight Club and I'm interested in learning lots more about film because to be honest my knowledge is very limited to British and American cinema with stuff thrown in about more modern japanese cinema. I like musicals too, I'm not sure how embarrassing that is but Calamity Jane! is one of my favourite films of all time. ALL TIME.

Did you see Ayoade's version of The Double?

I watched this quite recently and to be honest it was a bit disappointing, very murky. Not wholly bad but not up to the standard of Submarine.

I quite liked the murkiness of it, though I completely agree it is nowhere near as good as Submarine. Also, hello Becca!
