I lost last week, and TONGO's cranky. Have no idea how Im gonna be going forward now with Ronnie Hillmans ankle injury. Stupid ankle. Dionnes Death Squad is my opponent and he has Lesean McCoy. Not quite the weak RB matchup I was hoping for.

Gosh Jordan.

According to ESPN I'm rolling with the #1 QB, #1 RB, and #1 WR this week. So if I lose I'm gonna be mad, and stuff. Especially because one more consecutive win ties the league mark.

I am setting records like crazy...in my other league :( In first by a mile, and set the 5 game record for TDs, Points, and margins of victory.

A Luck, J Nelson, T Hilton, G Tate, M Lynch, J Hill, J Thomas, Buff DEF, M Crosby.

Ridiculous team this year.

Meanwhile, here in MoFo, how did LT win last week??? I think yahoo had her at under 10% chance to pull it out...Definitely her worst bye week, so she lucked out, big time.

Chris is the man to beat right now, though...

Pretty big week for a whole lot of teams. Badger and Sleezy are neck and neck for the second Bye, though Badger has a 60-point advantage that's pretty unlikely to be overcome in three games, so Sleezy probably needs to pull a game ahead to take it.

At first glance it looks like it might take 8 wins (sometimes it only takes 7) to get into the playoffs this year, but a lot can still happen. So I'd say only four teams are effectively ruled out, with Mike's team still on the cusp--he's got a fairly high point total relative to his record (because he's gotten unlucky, with the highest points again by a wide margin), though, so if he does win out he has a legitimate chance, especially since he's playing two of the teams above him in the last three weeks.

I am 5-5 in every single league I am in right now. Winners across the board would be pretty sweet I reckon.

Wonder if any Broncos players will get injured during training this week, I mean they might as well.

Is it just me or is it funny (not funny that he is injured, just where) that "Ball" has a groin injury?

Playing in multiple leagues creates some weird feelings. Obviously, there's the "I've got this guy but I'm playing him in another league" thing, but that's kinda straightforward. What's trickier is deciding what constitutes a good week when you aggregate the results together.

If you play in three leagues, for example, and win in two, but the one loss is the team that most needed it, it's hard to know how to feel. In my case I'm in just two leagues this year, which is weird because both teams have to win for the week as a whole to feel like a win.

Yoda
11-16-14, 08:31 PM
Welp, I need 10 points from Antonio Brown tomorrow night to pull out the win. He's only failed to reach that total once all year (last week), and that was because he lost two fumbles.

Still gonna finish with a mediocre-at-best total, though, even if Brown has a big game. This week was pretty much the boilerplate for the way I'm most likely to lose in the playoffs, if I do: total blanks from the iffier positions (I got negative points combined from TE and RB2) and only modest totals from the stud WRs. It's fairly unlikely for all of this to happen at once, but it's probably the most likely way I get bounced, barring some weirdness where Rodgers is randomly terrible or the opposing team just explodes.

Bradys getting owned by the Colts defense. 1:00 to the half and Tommy boy has -0.64. This isnt as surpising since both me and Dionnes rosters have been pathetic this week.

I think you were watching someone playing Maddon! What happened, see, is that Tom Brady and The Patriots owned the Colts 42-20, and it wasn't even close. The Colts looked terrible, couldn't run the ball, and folded to the obviously superior team! ;)

At no point was Brady owned - he made two mistakes under pressure, but wasn't sacked often or hit a lot after passes. So yeah, that's Denver and Indy dominated by The Pats...

Next! ;)

The second INT wasn't under pressure--he just lofted it up. Really uncharacteristically bad play. But aye, they came out on top--but mostly because of the running game, I'd say.

I'd still pick Denver, but the Pats have played some good teams quite well, to be sure.

At halftime Tom Brady had -0.84 FP, thats what I was talking about regardless of score. He ended up with over 18 though by the end of the game. whew

I recall him backpedaling frantically with multiple Colts running him down during that play, he was practically falling backwards when he made that bad decision to lob that ball. Make no mistake, it was a terrible play on Brady's part and a bad decision, but he was under pressure! i could be wrong, but am having trouble tracking down video that doesn't focus on Gray...

My memory is that he lofted it almost immediately after the snap because he thought he'd seen something in the defense and called an audible. Too lazy to track it down though. ;)

Anyway, I'm finding it really hard to figure out what's up with this New England team. Their performance in these games (and overall record) are a bit out of step with their underlying numbers. They're not too far above or below average in any facet of the game in the major offensive/defensive categories, and even the more advanced metrics tell a similar tale. It seems like they are where they are almost entirely on the strength of performance in high-leverage situations.

Sedai
11-17-14, 11:54 AM
Agreed. With a team like The Packers, you can pin down what they are doing to excel almost immediately. Nelson takes the top off the defense and gets them spread out, and Rodgers is more accurate than ever, with ridiculous arm strength. As soon as the defense spreads back a bit, the tank-like Lacy punishes them. It's pretty textbook overall, but defenses can't stop it lately.

The Patriots look like a different team each week, with vast fluctuations in how they play and in turn win. They may lean heavily on Gronk one week, with pass plays on 2 out of three downs in each set, only to emerge the next week with half the previous week's pass attempts, and some third string back plunging in for four TDs. The backbone is clearly the passing game and Tom Brady, but they seem to have no problem adjusting out of that mode when needed.

Yoda

I think you were right about the pressure thing, BTW. It looks like it happened because he called the audible, though, so more down to the decision than the throw itself, perhaps.

Yeah, it looked like Gronk got some separation too, and would have been gonzo if Brady was able to throw it anywhere near the guy. Alas, he did a Mark Sanchez impersonation and just fired the thing into the air in the general direction of about 4 Indy players. Whoops! Terrible play/decision.

Seven in a row! Playoff spot officially clinched.

https://pbs.twimg.com/media/B2se0RfCcAIdeld.png

That ties the league mark, currently held by jiraffe last year, myself in 2011, and LT in 2010. Badger's the only thing standing in the way now.

I also noticed PW's won 6 in a row, as well, after starting off 0-5. He's one game back of the last playoff spot. Suffice to say, nobody's ever made the playoffs after starting 0-5 (Dexter snuck in after starting 0-4 in 2010, but that's it), so this would be a pretty big deal.

With Hillman most likely out for the season remainder, my chances look slim. Couldnt get to 100 points even this week. My RB committee is nicknamed "The Thin Ice Gang"

Bryce Brown, supposed to be CJ Spillers replacement but how much work will he get with Boobie Dixon running and Fred Jackon returning?

Pierre Thomas, hurt. Please get well by MNF.

Ronnie Hillman, hurt. Bad.

Tre Mason. He has started his first 4+ games against the toughest run D's the NFL has to offer, and schedule going forward looks soft. Hmm!

Charles Sims. Well Yahoo likes him in their projections, but look at the team?

Theo Riddick, please Reggie Bush keep your ass on the bench PLEASE!

How committee is this? Id say theres a 60% chance Ill play Tre sunday, but no idea who RB2 will be.

Playoff scenarios! Just a quick overview; next week you'll get the annual here's-what-everyone-needs breakdown, with its customary minute details.

First thing's first: I'm gonna take one of the Byes. It's not official, but even if I lose both remaining games and one of the 7-4 teams wins both, the point gap is over 130 in even the lowest case. It'll probably be the #1 seed. Badger's the clear favorite for the #2 seed, given that he's got a game over the four 7-4 teams. Which are:

Sleezy's Stallyn's LT's Wolverines raul's Lords TONGO's PlasticPads
Raul and LT play this week, so that'll effectively knock the loser out of contention for the second Bye and put them neck and neck with the 6-5 teams, if they win, for one of the last playoff spots.

Every team 7-4 or better is in line for a playoff spot, and everyone worse is just on the other side of the bubble. Two 6-5 teams are right on the margin: PW's Legion of Boom, who started 0-5 before reeling off 6 straight, and Frightened Inmate's The Milford Men. PW plays Pete's struggling team and then LT, whereas Frightened plays Mike's team (which despite being 4-7 has outscored him) and then mine. So PW's schedule is definitely a bit easier.

If LT loses and PW wins this week, they'll both be 7-5 heading into their matchup in week 13, which would in all likelihood determine who gets a playoff spot. Could be exciting.

Kinda cool how closely records are reflecting point total this year. The top 6 teams--AKA the teams that would make the playoffs if the season ended now--are also the top 6 scoring teams. And the seeding matches the scoring order! Really, the only team to suffer any noteworthy bad luck is Sedai's Clockwork Angels, who are 7th in points and should probably be one of those 6-5 teams fighting for a spot.

Browns waive Ben Tate. Wow.

As a Ben Tate owner this might actually be good news. There are a couple of teams that could really use him where he'd likely do a lot better in terms of both usage and performance.

True, but players that switch teams mid year tend to have very little impact.

Ah man, I'd be feeling much better if Bradshaw and Cooks didn't have to go down right when things are getting intense! The dreaded RB2 spot. But that's how it goes.. I feel pretty good about my team's chances heading towards the playoffs, just gotta get that bye and maybe end a streak or two ;)
