I was wondering if anyone could help me with a plumbing problem.?
Well I was taking a bath last night and after a long soak I emptied the bath only to notice water was dripping into the downstairs hallway as the bath was draining. The plumber came out and took the bath panel of and he says he can't see anything leaking and that the ceiling may have to come down. He was literally at our house 10 minutes. Does anyone know what this could be?.

well it's a bit rubbish for a plumber to come out and not find the problem. I'm not a plumber but my husband has done all the plumbing work in all the houses we've had over the years. Is it a rented place you live in cos I wouldn't go messing with anything as it's the landlords problem to fix things like that.
If it's your own place then it's not hard to find out where the leak is. Just take the bath panel off and get a torch so you can see what's going on underneath by the taps and drain. Dry all the pipework thoroughly with kitchen paper, then run the taps and see if you can see any weeping of water in the pipework or in the white waste pipe. If not it may be in the waste under the floorboards. You'll have to have floorboards up to have a look. Replacing waste pipes isn't hard. It's the access under the bath that's difficult.
If you're not all that good at DIY you'd best call another plumber. I hope you didn't pay the other one a lot for telling you nothing!
If the ceiling in the hall has gone all saggy then he's probably right tho, you'll have to replace the plasterboard. It's not a massive job.

I'm not a plumber but I've certainly cleaned a few pipes in my time... :D
