You going to get us all hot and bothered and then not reveal your number 1 pick?

Anyway, of course I like House of 1000 Corpses, but Devil was just ok for me.

I started Ghost Ship but didn't get far, not because it wasn't good, because it seemed like it was. I have to get back to it.

I haven't seen any of them so far because I've thought they all looked rubbish. However, I liked The Devil's Rejects, so I would watch House Of A 1000 Corpses if/when it came on tv, but I can't say I've heard much good about it.

Always nice to follow these lists! :D Just too bad a lot of people get mad if it doesn't contain all their personal favorites. I mean, what the f*ck is the point then? Haha

Anyways, can't wait for more! Haven't seen 'Corpses' but I remember Devil to be quite a surprise as well. Ghost Ship is not a movie I like at all, but great to see you throw it on even with its bad reputation! ;)

First set is completely amazing. I don't care for Woman in Black but the other two in that set are good. Wrong Turn is good fun. Jeepers Creepers is one of my favorite horror movies. Devil was interesting. Ghost Ship is a good one. Watched 1000 Corpses, but it isn't my favorite. Nice start so far! Good to see some new people posting lists.

haha yeah man! But really they should be watch by anybody who like/love horror.

Oculus - was a huge surprise to me. Loved the psychological elements to it that made you believe what you wanted to believe and the editing was stunning as well.

Insidious - is a nice old school classic horror tale, that doesn't try to be all that new or inventive but I really had a great time with it. It's a lot of fun, the sequel too.

Grave Encounters - indeed one of the best found footage movies. The low budget feel is strong in this one, and c'mon insane asylums? Damn right creepy. DON'T watch the sequel though it sucks... (at least imo) :)

V/H/S is one of the best found-footage horrors;Hellraiser is a classic; Frailty is a great psychological thriller; Sinister is a hell of a good chiller;Frozen is mildly poo but good to watch whilst drunk; The Mist is amazing and Final Destination is just popcorn fun. only 1/3 ?? :O

do I watch alot of American Horror? The 80's stuff is cheese.... its hard for me watch it.. because all I want to do is laugh... but your list is more current films.

I seen "Devil"... it was decent
I seen "Ghost Ship" .. it was ok
I seen "Woman in Black" which I liked and that is why I recommended it to you.
I seen "Wrong Turn" and it was ok... there is another in the series I like more.
I seen "Jeepers Creepers" and I hated it... its as bad as "Starship Troopers" which I f*cking hate with a passion.
I seen "Insidious" which I liked
I have "Occulus" but havent watched it yet.
I seen "Eden Lake" and its good but I dont consider it horror.
I seen "The Strangers" and I actually like that film.
I seen "Friday the 13th".. 80's cheese .. ugh
I seen "The Mist".. who can deny Stephen King.. he makes good horror.
I havent seen "My Bloody Valentine 3D" but I prefer the original to the remake.
I seen "Hellraiser" which is good... all the ones in the series are decent enough to watch.
I seen "Frailty" and its a great flick.
I seen "Sinister" which is great... Blumhouse Production has been putting out some good flicks.
I seen "The Exorcism of Emily Rose".. good but I seen better "possession" films.
I seen "Silent Hill" and its a video game film... with a bit of horror.
I seen "As Above So Below" and it was good... with only one good jump scare to it.

ok so about 1/2 or a bit more...damn..

Haute Tension is one of the best examples of an ending actually ruining a film, IMO. Normally, as with Stephen King adaptations, there'll be a poor ending, but it just makes it a shame. It hurts it, but it doesn't ruin it. I feel that the ending of Haute Tension actually does ruin the film.

1408 I remember barely a thing about, other than I thought it was poor and it answered a question for me. That being, is Samuel L Jackson's poor movie choice more powerful than John Cusacks ability to make a poor film palatable to me. Turns out, SLJ wins.

Not seen Deliver Us From Evil, but I did like the look of the trailer.

I have to agree with HK on High Tension. I now automatically think of it as a bad film because of that ending. It's a shame because I was loving it up to that point. I would be interested in trying it again.

1408 looks like something me and my wife would enjoy together. I added it to my watchlist.

I was disappointed in You're Next but you're not the only one who loves it. For me, it was just ok.

Loved Tucker and Dale; the only reason it's not making my list is because I look at it as a comedy.

I wasn't crazy about V/H/S, but I'll still try the sequel.

I don't know, The Conjuring failed to impress me. For me, it was just Insidious in an older setting, and that movie was much better IMO. James Wan is a solid horror director. I don't know, The Conjuring failed to impress me. For me, it was just Insidious in an older setting, and that movie was much better IMO. James Wan is a solid horror director. I don't think he's necessarily "amazing" but his horror movies are decent enough. All of his movies feel very old-school and I like that.

his movie are special for me though... has a fanatic of horror movies since my childhood, I seen a tons of horror of every kind James Wan's directing style is very unique. No other horror director makes movies like him (atmosphere , entertain and impressive storyline).

As with most horror of the last 10 years, I've not seen it. :D It does have a good reputation, though.

Joy Ride (2001) - John Dahl

- This movie is amazing. Keep me on the edge of my seat during all the viewing and I also buy it in blu-ray last month because I want to rewatch it over and over again. Completely fall in love with this low-budget horror/thriller of the 2000's. Paul Walker and Steve Zahn are excellent and the storyline is very well-made. Rusty Nail is awesome and the ending (alternate and original) are very good. For everyone who like unnerving movie this is a recommendation of my own.

Psycho (1960) - Alfred Hitchcock

- A classic of the 60's and also one of the best movie of all-time, by far the best movie from Hitchcock. So many details and awesome atmosphere that it is addictive. Hopkins is amazing has the vilain , Camera shots are awesome , cinematography is great and the ending is completely unbelievable for a movie of the 60's.

Obviously a VERY nice pick looking forward to the last two!

I still don't really think of it as a horror film, but it's brilliant nonetheless.

It's horror for the century in question... For 1960 this movie was scary and very disturbing so I consider it horror.... But yes I know that it's more a thriller...

- Classic and the best slasher movie of all-time imo. Micheal Myers is a beast , the soundtrack is amazing and the atmosphere put by John Carpenter is incredibly scary. I love to watch this movie and as an horror movie fan I highly recommend it to everyone who didn't see it.

- So freaking awesome. This movie impress me every time I see it, The acting of Nicholson is one of the best I've ever seen in a movie, Kubrick style and many view and camera shots are amazing and the storyline is kind very creepy and the mood and atmosphere of this masterpiece of the 80's is simply perfect. I also find the performance of Shelley Duvall , Danny Lloyd and Scatman Crothers very nice. Many incredible memorable scenes with Psycho Nicholson who is btw entertaining as hell. It's the best horror movie of all time in my opinion.

A respectable list!

One of the ones I struggle with is Ghost Ship. I really have a love/hate relationship with that one. For the parts I love I'd give it really high marks and for the parts I hate... I really hate them.

Some of those shots when the crew first find the ship are creepy as anything I've seen... that huge rusting relic. Very well done... intimidating scale/proportion. Falls apart when the ghosts start having conversations.

I love the originality of your list. I was so surprised to see such titles as Eden lake..grave encounters..as above so below... Frozen.. High tension aswell as many other wonderfully thrilling movies many haven't heard of. Wonder have you see rogue or welcome to the jungle. They can be hard to find since they stray from the mainstream but so worth it.. In fact more than a few scenes from welcome to the jungle will never leave me. Also check out frontiers. Some say that its a french version of hostel but its soo soo much more than that... Well and 50x better. If your looking for a classic check out "They Live" - of course this one may be a nostalgic piece from my childhood.. The old man and i used to watch this over and over.
