View Full Version : Avi files
is it possible to watch avi or mpg files on a multi-format DVD player - don't tell me to convert to VCD cause i already have everything burnt onto discs and i don't want to redo it all...i know it sounds like a silly question, but then again you can listen to mp3s on a dvd player, so i thought maybe, just maybe...
thanks guys

Nope, you can't. Apparantly there are some DVD players that can handle the mpeg4 divx encoded avi's but they're gonna be expensive so my guess is that you don't own one of those.

VCDHELP.COM ALSO HAS TONS OF INFO ON PLAYERS ECT...
MY DVD PLAYER WILL PLAY AN MPG FINE BUT NOT AN AVI.
THERE IS SOME ATTACHMENT SUPPOSED YOU CAN BUY FOR A PS2 THAT WILL PLAY AVI FILES, BUT IT REQUIRES NETWORKING YOUR PS2 TO YOUR PC ECT....
CAN TRY TO FIND THE LINK AGAIN IF YOU WANT, BUT SEEMS I REMEMBER IT WAS WAY EXPENSIVE, OR DIFFICULT....
MUCH CHEAPER TO JUST UPGRADE YOUR VIDEO CARD TO SOMETHING LIKE ATI'S ALL IN WONDER PRO AND JUST RUN THE OUT CABLE TO YOUR VCR
:D
On the subject of VCDs, are they available at all in the US? If so, where?
