I know we have some college football fans here. Nostromo is a Georgia fan, The Gunslinger is a Florida State fan. I am a Texas fan. Any other college football fans here?

I probably won't watch it, but Nebraska vs Michigan State has the makings of a fun shoot-out. Connor Cook seems to be the real deal and Ameer Abdullah is probably the second best back in the country.

I am so happy that Muschamp as the "Head-coach-in-waiting" thing at Texas didn't last.

And yeah, Tennessee is like my second team. One of my best friends is a Vol fan, and living in "Razorback country" we sort of bonded on both hating Arkansas. We both like Butch a lot, we expect him to good things. And have you seen the recruiting class he is amassing for next season? It's looking really stout, a lot of really talented defensive linemen.

As much as I love my Noles, we do not look as dominant as we did last season offensively. And watching this game against Wake Forest, we have a center that is really green, and he keeps snapping the ball so high Winston has to jump in the air to get a pass off. Which has REALLY thrown off his game this week.

I will be checking out LSU-Auburn tonight. I try to get a little more into college ball every year. Everyone here loves SEC football. I just have not found a team to cling to. It makes it hard for me to get excited about anything but the biggest of games. I am glad we have finally have some form of a playoff.

Hopefully other Longhorn fans will look at this the way it should be looked at. Texas didn't have a good defense during the last four years, our defense is legit now. At least upfront, and while we don't have depth yet, we are showing what we can be. Any in-state defender in high school should want to play for Texas. Charlie Strong doesn't have "his guys" in there yet, so of course we aren't going to be great right away. Nick Saban didn't turn Alabama into the monster it is now in just a single season. Our offensive line is so weak right now, it needs time to grow. Our quarterback isn't very good, but I think we will just have to endure that this season. I don't want us to burn Jerrod Heard's redshirt for this season, if he is true talent it would be wiser to save him for a season where we have a chance to accomplish something. Plus Zach Gentry seems to be a better fit for the kind of offense we want to run, and he will just be a true freshman next season. I just hope other fans are as patient as I am.

I can't remember a week this crazy in college football since 07 when Kansas almost went to the national championship.

By the way, it's not just the ranked teams getting in on the craziness. Washington State quarterback, Connor Halliday broke the NCAA single game passing yardage record this weekend. Mike Leach loves letting his qbs break records. The dude had 734 passing yards.

California also had a dude probably break some kind of record. Trevor Davis scored 4 total touchdowns, 2 receiving and 2 on kick returns. He scored on back-to-back kick returns in the third quarter. He caught the first td of the game and also the game winning one. This game looks absolutely bonkers.

Happy college football day! My Horns play OU in what has to be the lowest profile Red River Rivalry in ages. I won't call it Red River Shootout this year, because I doubt our offense could have a shootout with anyone. After the crazy weekend before, we know at least two top ten teams will lose. Auburn and Mississippi State play today and Baylor and TCU do the same. The craziness looks like it will continue.

Florida fired Will Muschamp. At this point, it's just kind of astonishing it didn't happen sooner. He'll get a DC job soon though. Florida should immediately call Rich Rodriguez and don't stop calling him until he takes the head coaching job there. Imagine the talent he could recruit for that offense.

How nervous are you about the playoff? I don't see any way they can punish FSU for winning games, but it really seems like they want to. Everybody is talking up everybody else, and everybody wants to push FSU ou even though they haven't lost.

All we have to do is win out and we have no reason not to be in the playoffs. Our strength of schedule will not get us in as a one lose team. But as undefeated reigning national champs, that will. All that needs to be done is to beat Florida (which we play at home) and then Georgia Tech in the ACC championship (which is in a neutral location).

G Tech has lost to Duke and North Carolina, and I expect them to get beat the hell up by Georgia. Other then that they have not really beaten anyone else of real significance outside of Clemson. Florida is a rivalry game so I will not sleep on them. Either way I just want two more wins for Christmas. :D

Now for another HUGE game. The Iron Bowl: Auburn and Alabama. With Mississippi State losing to Ole Miss, it would be INSANE is Bama lost and gets knocked out of the Top 4.

Would make things very interesting with Baylor and TCU winning their games tonight.

I love it a lot more when my Longhorns are doing well. Now I have to worry about possibly playing Arkansas in a bowl game, I really don't want to do that. I'd much rather play LSU or Texas A&M, preferably A&M.

I am more worried about the way they are built. I've watched most of their games this season, or at least parts of them. The things they do consistently well are the things that would give us the most trouble. They stop the run. Our O-line is nowhere close to where it needs to be yet, so that would leave Tyrone Swoopes trying to win us the game on 3rd and long. That's the opposite of a good thing. Then they get big on offense and just pound the ball. We could probably stand up to this for the first half, but with quick possessions on offense leading to less rest time our defense would most likely break down as the game wore on. I am very afraid of Arkansas, and not just because they would probably beat us. I think losing to them would be bad for our national appearance. Arkansas is really underrated due to their long streak of lost SEC games that they broke against LSU. Arkansas vs Texas means more to Arkansas, because they consider it a rivalry in Fayetteville. In Austin it's just another game. I don't know if Texas would be up for this game against the Hogs whereas they would be fired up and would probably treat this game like their Super Bowl.

Ohio State will NOT lose to Bama. Ohio State has a habit of loosing to SEC teams in national championship games. Like Florida TWICE in one year in Football AND basketball. Worthless team.

As much as I love my Noles I would be shocked if we won against Oregon. But if Winston plays like he did last year or at least like he did against Georgia Tech, we still have a shot.

I think Alabama is the team to beat. But I root for my Seminoles all the way.

Hindsight being 20/20, really would have like to seen TCU instead of Florida State. There was no way it would have happened, but FSU look outmatched in that second half.

I know there is a premium on quarterbacks and big ones at that, but Winston being a lock in the NFL is hard for me to believe. He reminds me of JaMarcus Russell, but with less talent.

I don't believe any QB is a lock in the NFL. But that being said Winston does not have the eating habits of JaMarcus, so he is automatically going to be better. Seriously I find it hard to think he could suck THAT much. Let's face it JaMarcus is up with Ryan Leaf as one of the worst QBs drafted ever.

But being fair, FSU does not have a good history with QBs in the NFL. Sure Brad Johnson won a Super Bowl Ring with Tampa Bay, but that defense was doing most of the work that year. Still better then QBs from the University of Florida though. Looking at you Rex Grossman and Tim Tebow! :D

Florida State is doing pretty good. I would have liked more offense in the BC game, but our defense is strong. So that helps.

It looks like Wake Forest will be an easy win for the Noles, the first interesting game of the year for them will probably be the Miami game. The Noles should probably roll in that game, but historic rivalries are usually pretty wacky.
