The gist of it: you send me your top ten (or less) films of the year in ranked order. After I tabulate the scores, the top ten scoring films will be our nominees. Then you send me your top five (or less) of the nominees in ranked order. The film with the highest score will be named our best picture of the year.

The watching period of two weeks is fair, yes? So votes are due on the 14th of October.

I'm interested to see which film will take second. Should be fun.

What do you think will be first?

Baron Prasil or The Exterminating Angel.

Arabia will be. Though it won't be my pick.

Arabia is my number one, but you'd think To Kill A Mockinbird would have a good chance. The Two JJ said do have the best chance though, since Dostoyevsky counts for doubles in most 19th Century board games :p.

Actually, I need to extend this for myself. I am going to be pretty busy this week, so the deadline is pushed to the 21st

Cool. I still have about a half dozen movies I want to watch before submitting my list. I don't expect any of them to make my list, but with my screwy taste in movies, you never know. :D

This is good news

JJ, I sent in my list a couple of days ago, but I didn't get the usual confirmation. Hopefully you got it.

1962 was a damn good year. I have a feeling that it will contain the most films on my 60's list. Requiem for a Heavyweight and Knife in the Water are two of my particular favorites from 1962 that don't get much attention, but they're definitely worth watching if anyone gets the chance before submitting their lists.

I got it, Captain, sorry about not responding. I've been doing things at a snail's pace and I forget to follow through with the confirmations sometimes.

I'm trying to kill two birds with one stone and watch 1962 horror. Does anyone know if any one of these three are worth watching: The Brain; Burn, Witch, Burn or Trauma?

Watch Burn, Witch, Burn. I've been meaning to see it, so your opinion might shift it's spot in my endless queue.

Will do then. It's one I've looked at a couple of times because I've always liked witchcraft as a subject in movies and books.

I don't know if I'll watch it tonight or tomorrow, but I'll report back in the challenge thread. :)

It's an exceedingly long time since I saw The Brain but I don't remember it as being really good.

Last day to get your 1962 list in people :)

He extended it to the 21st, Christine so we still have a little time. :)

Ah right. Thanks Go, I must've missed that somewhere along the line!

We have 6 days until the 1962 list is due.

I know of a few choice 1962 American films, that are not so common, but are worth watching.

I don't want to mention them in a post, as it might be seen as spamming them. So if you're interested just message me and I will send you the titles. :)

Feature films only?

I don't recall. We're trying to improve on the Oscar choices, but a Best Picture nominee for them is supposed to be at least 40 minutes long. La jetee may qualify under our rules though.

Yeah that's what I had in mind, if it's included, I've got 8 films that I have seen so I might submit a list. I would watch some more, but I've been really busy recently.

I sent my list in. I couldn't quite do a full list, but I ended up with more than I thought.

We are going by the date IMDB has listed, correct? Bergman's films are always dated differently on Wiki.

Maybe you can still get one in? This isn't my thing, but I know JJ has been busy so maybe he hasn't gotten around to scoring anything yet.

I have been away from the internet for a few days, so if anybody would like to send in a list go for it. I have a backlog of lists to go through, so I'll probably start going through them around midnight my time.
