I remember when I first heard "Too Late for Goodbyes", I expected Julian Lennon to become as big a star as his father. I don't know what happened to him, but I would have liked to have heard more from him. I thought he was very good.

Three good songs. I remember reading somewhere that "We Built This City" was voted the worst song ever, but I have no idea why. I think it's a great song.
I'm hit and miss on Michael Jackson songs, but I think "Human Nature" is one of his better songs.
"I Can Dream About You" is probably the only Dan Hartman song that I've ever heard, but I like it, so that makes three more + reps for you for picking good songs. :)

I've never heard that song before, but it looks and sounds like it's from the 1970s. If it wasn't for the fact that the title of the video shows his name, I wouldn't even think it was the same guy.

09-23-14, 03:11 AM
I got a little side-tracked, but I'm catching up now.
A friend introduced me to Duran Duran's music back in the 80s, so I've heard a bunch of their songs. (She had a huge crush on the lead singer.) "Hungry Like The Wolf" is one of their better songs. I also like "Is There Something I Should Know", "Rio", and "Wild Boys" by Duran Duran.
I've only heard 2 or 3 Dire Straits songs, but I think they're all on the "Brothers in Arms" album. I like "Walk of Life" and "Money for Nothing".
The movie Footloose had some great music, and "Let's Hear It for the Boy" is no exception. It's one of a bunch of great songs on the soundtrack.
gbgoodies
09-23-14, 03:14 AM
Both "Footloose" and "Let's Hear It For The Boy" came in first and second place in the Prom Night Song Tournament.
That must have been before I got here. I never saw that tournament.

Anyway, love Take On Me and it's a great video, too. Another song/group I heard all the time because my sister was a big fan.

I love "Take On Me". It's probably my favorite non-country song from the 1980s, and it has an awesome video.
That guy looks like the singer of Tokyo Hotel.

09-23-14, 03:27 AM
For the longest time I thought that was a cover version of a 70's disco song, because I was/am sure that I knew it before I ever heard it. Even now, when I know it's an original song, I can remember singing along with the chorus the first time I remember hearing it.

I've been getting too jokey and immature lately, and that (as well as the Michael Scott avatar, as much as I loved it) wasn't helping. So I went with something a little more serious, with the intention of getting my sh*t together.

What's wrong with being "jokey and immature"? It's fun to let loose once in a while and just enjoy yourself. This is a chat board, not a job. It should be fun.

It's like Al Pacino and Sly Stallone had a lovechild. :D And, for our British viewers of a certain age, there's more than a touch of Lionel Blair, too and weird, creepy young Bill Bailey. That vid is funny, too.

wow Sexy you've been busy! Not got time to look now as I'm off to work but will read your whole thread later :)
I was thinking of doing a 1970s favourite songs one as that's my era. Looked at 1970 and got nearly 50 from that year alone. Is that too boring to do so many songs from each year? the years split in threads a few weeks apart of course, or shall I do more work and get the whole 1970s down to 100 songs?

A lot more 80's favorites, especially Every Little Thing She Does Is Magic, Cruel Summer, Uptown Girl, Dancing With Myself, You Spin Me Round, Take On Me, Hungry Like the Wolf, Der Kommissar, The Glamorous Life, and Sunglasses at Night. The only one that I never really liked is We Built This City.

My favourites are - Our House, Rhythm is Gonna Get You, Steppin Out, Glory Days, Walk of Life, Little Lies, Rhythm Nation, The Heat is On, Human Nature and Every Little Thing She Does.

The one I really don't like is the Yoko Ono one.

Honeykid left and he didn't even tell me he was going. I thought the British were supposed to have good manners.
The last place you were active was the MOFO chill thread, so I posted there to tell you I was going to bed. I even addressed you personally.
Well, the list fell away at the end for me, but Steppin' Out is a stone cold classic. I love that song.
Never been a big fan of The Police and Everything Little Thing is OK but I usually turn it off before the end.
