22 Peg Lane

50 word minimum per post. No cheating by saying same words over and over. ;) This is fiction.

They said the house was haunted. It never captured media attention because of how small it was, but the local residents of small town Shiner, Texas (population 2,100) spoke of it often. A stranger only has one degree of seperation in Shiner, and the stories told amongst themselves throughout the years rose to mythical exaggeration. The victims were real.

Of the many stories laced with fiction and facts was an actual recorded incident in 1973 when the Sheriffs department was dispatched to check on a noise disturbance 3:15 AM on August 25th coming from the house. They reported to the notorious address of 22 Peg Lane fully expecting to see a display of vandalism and possibly some abandoned radio playing. Other instances usually involve teenagers breaking in to have small parties.

Deputy Tom Felton (married, father of 2), and female Deputy Kelly Franklin (recently married, no children) were radioing in what they saw as they approached the home, as open banter is allowed on the police band with such a small town. The deputies had no idea the significance of what they were transmitting that night back to the station.

"I just don't get it Kelly, T.J. just started wetting the bed again. He talks about how he feels something in the room and how he is too scared to make a sound", Tom said exasperated by his son's nocturnal activities.

"He's young Tom, kids' have active imaginations at that age. He'll get over it soon", Kelly said trying to comfort him.

"I don't know Kel, this isn't imagination. He has this look in his eye. I've never seen him like this".

They turned into Peg Lane. As they approached the house a silence fell between them. Both deputies were locals and had grown up with the stories of 22 Peg Lane. Now, sitting outside the infamous property, each of them was recalling the macabre history of the little house.
'Seems quiet', Franklin finally said, her voice hushed.
Felton turned on his flashlight. 'We'd better go and have a look.'
As they neared the steps, the streetlight flared so brightly they had to shield their eyes.

The Monster lay in wait...

...the people will come soon. When its here, they always do. The process continues as it has had for a millenia. The troopers, the travellers, the soldiers, the orders of white men. Theyve all come unaware to give sacrifice of themselves, to fulfill the pact made, to keep the monster somewhere other.

The monster stands in the same spot, and when it comes its always stands there, where its supposed to. The house now which surrounds it was one time new, and one time nonexistent, and one time the ground had an oak tree which was hundreds of years old. That tree was uprooted so this house could be. Before that tree started growth and for hundreds of years before that......the monster became in its spot, arriving from somewhere other.

"These glow of protectors" it knows. Protector glows which come to its spot struggle the most.

Tom Felton opened the door which was already slightly ajar. Deputy Franklin found it odd noticing the load creaking from the swollen door....the noise seemed to suddenly travel a distance, like it was a sound from another room? Felton seemed unaware.

The reports go on to say he entered the 22 Peg Lane domicile with flashlight in hand, his partner Deputy Kelly Franklin also entering the structure.....
