A surprisingly, fast-paced ceremony that moved at a nice clip, thanks partially to host Seth Meyers, who kept things moving nicely and the lack of superfluous musical numbers and comedy sketches. My general breakdown of the evening:

BEST UNEXPECTED WIN: Julianna Margulies winning Outstanding Lead Actress for The Good Wife...very rough category that Margulies has been battling with Claire Danes over this award the last few years.

BEST EXPECTED WIN: Jessica Lange for American Horror Story: Coven. Lange seemed genuinely surprised at her win, but I don't know why...next to Meryl Streep, Lange is probably the best living actress working in the business today.

BEST UNPLANNED COMIC BIT: Jimmy Fallon coming onstage to take Stephen Colbert's Emmy because they mispronounced his name.

BEST PRESENTER BANTER: Woody Harrelson and Matthew McConaughey...Harrelson's impression of McConaughey had me on the floor.

BEST MUSICAL MOMENT: Weird Al Yankovic's versions of theme songs for current TV shows...especially loved his lyrics for the theme song to Scandal.

BEST UNPLANNED COMIC BIT, PART 2: Andy Samberg pretending that he was co-hosting the Emmys with Meyers and his part in Weird Al's production number

MOST MOVING MOMENT OF THE EVENING: Billy Crystal's tribute to Robin Williams...I just about lost it and I think Crystal almost lost it as well. That couldn't have been easy for him, but he handled it beautifully...very classy moment.

BEST PLANNED COMIC BIT: The President of the Television Academy talking about TV while Sofia Vergara was standing on the revolving platform.

BEST ACCEPTANCE SPEECH: Bryan Cranston...that guy is a class act.

2ND BEST ACCEPTANCE SPEECH: Aaron Paul, a perfect combination of sincere and entertaining and I loved the little commercial he offered for his wife's website..

BEST DRESSED LADIES: Kerry Washington, Debra Messing, Allison Janney, Julianna Margulies, Halle Berry, Sofia Vergara, Julie Bowen

As good as Breaking Bad and Sherlock are, I am a little disappointed that neither Billy Bob Thornton or Matthew McConaughey picked up an award :(

Marguilles deserved her emmy imo, she was great this season. I'd still say Danes deserved the previous two though. Lange was the best thing in the subpar Coven, glad to see her win. It was also good to see the Breaking Bad wins.

I only watched the first three seasons so maybe it's drastically improved, but i don't know what the emmys fixation on Modern Family. In my opinion at least it's an ok comedy but nothing special, and every year it's one there's been something more deserving; like Orange Is The New Black or Silicon Valley this year. Saying that my favourite thing about Modern Family was always Ty Burrell as Phil so good to see him win.

I've only seen the first three episodes of True Detective so far and i'd say McConaughey is amazing. I'd have to watch the rest to say whether he deserved it more than Cranston imo though.

I love Modern Family and I totally agree that Ty Burrell is the best thing about the show...the man is brilliant.

And after 7 seasons, Jon Hamm still doesn't have an Emmy. Maybe next year, for the last season of Mad Men, he'll finally get it. The competition in his category is insane, though.

Glad to see Breaking Bad got all the awards. Except the directing award, which it didn't win. Why the hell wasn't Rian Johnson nominated for Ozymandias?

Breaking Bad deserved all the awards simply for being one of the best and unique show of the last century.

Aaron Paul and Bryan Cranston = Bromance level 1000

The presenter in that category, Julia Roberts, said the same thing...it was an insane category and possibly with the end of Breaking Bad, maybe next year will finally be Jon Hamm's year.

I'll never understand how anybody thinks Jim Parsons is a good actor in any way. I'd rather watch Pauly Shore in Bio-Dome than him.
