Tournaments, Lists, Challenges, and Games Index

This post is going to undergo some major editing at some point, so have patience.

The idea is for this thread to be used as a guide to what games, challenges, lists, etc. are going on in MoFo Land. It will also be used to schedule things too. I am not trying to turn fun and games into a strict thing, but we don't want to put too much on our plate and spread ourselves thin. The best way to get maximum participation for our activities is to spread awareness and not do too much at once. I am guilty of this, which is why I had the idea to start this thread. I am probably going to need a lot of help maintaining this because I am lazy, so that would be appreciated.

Plus trying to finish the 4th HOF movies while competing in the survivor challenge. Luckily the 70s countdown is just pure entertainment and no work at this point.

We could switch back and forth between years or something or I can just do it until you want to do it again. I love that and we are in the 60s. I don't want it to die.

These are ideas I have or want to see done. I don't necessarily need or want to run them I just want them to happen. I will though if no one else will.

We need a horror movie challenge or something happening for Oct. that lasts all month. That must happen. Challenges are easy to run I would think. You just have to keep a list of how many movies people have watched.

I want that song tournament where you can't nominate any singer or band that has been nominated twice to happen. I'm willing to do that one. It will be a lot of work. That one will be around Feb. if I do it.

I want the Scandinavian challenge to happen at some point. I really think there should be some sort of list etiquette where only one challenge happens at a time, so I'm hoping that the Horror movie ones happens and this can be a winter challenge. I'm not real fond of challenges lasting for more than a couple of months. I don't think people stay interested for longer than that.

I'm also itching for another tv character tournament to happen.

I'll always have a HOF going on at all times. As soon as one ends another will begin, but I want to do special ones occasionally too. From Nov 1st to Jan 1st there will be a special documentary one, so we can put that on the calendar for sure.

I'm going to start working on it when I get back from my dad's wedding. Survivor and the HoF short film will be over by then, so the only thing I will have going on is a brand new HoF.

That's going to be besides the regular HoF. The HoF that is going on now will end Oct. 7th, but I'm going to start the fifth one Sept 30th before I leave. I'm going to have them run every three months now, but if I do a special edition one it will run at the same time as the regular one. At least until I get 10 to 15 films inducted then I will probably lengthen the times in between HoFs.

I guess this is like the official announcement for the Halloween Horror Challenge. It will run through October. Each non-english language or silent horror film will give you 2 points and each english language horror film you watch will count for 1 point. Rewatches are acceptable, but you can't double-dip the same film and get credit for it twice.

Sounds fine to me. I am not honeykid, so distinctions on things like this don't matter to me. The only thing I ask for people not to get crazy with what they consider horror films. If someone tries to say that they should get a point for One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest because of Nurse Ratched, they will lose all their points.

That's something I haven't watched a whole lot of. I'll definitely get into some of that more. I have a hankering for some good old fashioned teenage slasher flicks so I'll probably start with a bunch of that. I haven't watched anything but HoF and tournament movies for awhile now, so I am going to go nuts and wallow around in the crap for while.

Hey, Jiraffejustin. I just looked at google calendar and it's pretty cool. You can color code the events so like challenges could be purple, tournaments green and so on. I'm not sure how we can link it here, but it would be a very handy place for everyone to put their events, I think. I just glanced at it, but it seems cool.

Looks neat. You can add calendar managers too, so that could come in handy.

It looks like exactly what we need. I don't know how to make it so everyone can use it though, do you? Maybe Yoda will know some way we can use it as a group calendar. I don't think it's a good idea to give a bunch of people our personal google accounts passwords, but maybe we can make a Mofo account somehow?

There are lots of nifty things on it we can use. I know I'm a really really big nerd but things like calendars and color coding really excite me. :D

Well the deadline for voting is the first of December. I doubt I'll actually start the countdown that day, especially since it's a Monday and I work full time. I'd say December 2nd is probably the earliest I'll start it, and that's only if I still have Tuesday afternoons off by then.

I was looking for the deadline for the MoFo Nominations, and I stumbled upon this post.

The 2nd short deadline is January 2nd.
The 5th Hall of Fame deadline is Feb. 12th.
The character tournament should end the 14th or 15th of Dec. if I counted the days right.

That statement there makes me think she wanted Hall of Fame threads to be at the same time, as long as one of them was a special/specific Hall of Fame. Like the Slasher thread. Anyone?

I am not for sure what your asking Destiny. We have the 6th, Sci-fi, and Slasher running right now. 7th and Docs will be running soon.

Okay, i am with you now. I think the main dispute is she didn't want three like we have going now, but I think we are doing fine. As long as people don't take on more than they can handle. I think that was the main worry.

I prefer one main HoF and one sub-genre HoF at a time. Using the Sci-Fi and Slasher HoFs as examples, it showed that most people won't do both sub-genres even if they want to. They'll chose one to join and pass on the other.

But that's just my opinion. I'm not really against one main HoF and two sub-genres at a time. I just think that it puts too much out there at once for the people who like to participate in a lot of these HoFs.

I think Goodies is right. Two sub and a main did work well but most people are not going to do three. The sub ones usually go much quicker anyway, so you still get in two while the main one is going on.
