The gist of it: you send me your top ten (or less) films of the year in ranked order. After I tabulate the scores, the top ten scoring films will be our nominees. Then you send me your top five (or less) of the nominees in ranked order. The film with the highest score will be named our best picture of the year.
We will start with 1960. Any feature length film that IMDb has listed from the year is eligible.
I will give you some time to do some watching. A week should be sufficient. I will announce our nominees in a week. You can turn in a list now or anytime between now and the 13th.

i've only seen 3 films from 1960 :(. luckily i really like all of them, but i'll try to at least watch the apartment, the savage innocents, and maybe when a women ascends the stairs, the virgin spring, or la dolce vita.

1960 is one of the best years in the history of film for me. You have a bunch of great movies to choose from:
The Apartment
The Bad Sleep Well
Breathless
The City of the Dead
Eyes Without a Face
Peeping Tom
Psycho
Saturday Night and Sunday Morning
I am sure there is even more greatness out there that I haven't seen yet, but I'd put those movies up against any other year's cream of the crop.
I sent my list in. It had two from jj's list. :)

Did you put #7 there on purpose or is that just a coincidence?
Coincidence, although there was some strategic voting this round.

Why not? You already have a top ten, and this would help a couple of those movies.

Films I have seen from the year:
L'Avventura
La Dolce Vita
Breathless
Charlotte and Her Boyfriend (short)
Elmer Gantry
The Apartment
Psycho
The Magnificent Seven
Trivia - IMDb says I've seen 197 movies from 1960, but I've forgotten some, at least until I've seen the titles to jog my memory. :Collective raspberry:.

Did you guys scroll through the whole IMDB list? It says there's 2,272 titles. I only looked up to 500 titles, but didn't count which one's I've seen.
Mr Minio

Trivia - IMDb says I've seen 197 movies from 1960 Can't be, because even I have seen 273 films from the 60's!
EDIT: How stupid I am!!! 60's != 1960
1960 looks like a pretty good year. I'll submit a list once I see Rocco and His Brothers - which I already had lined up to watch.
Here are some decent or better films that won't make my list :)
The Bad Sleep Well - Akira Kurosawa
Spartacus - Stanley Kubrick
The Little Shop of Horrors - Roger Corman
Night & Fog in Japan - Nagisa Oshima
Two Women - Vittorio De Sica
Elmer Gantry - Richard Brooks
I love the era, but I haven't delved into it a lot yet.
Off the top of my head I would highly recommend, The Cranes Are Flying, Shinobi no Mono, and I Start Counting.
Turned out I didn't like Rocco & His Brothers enough to vote for it - but found a great Alain Delon movie to fill out a top 10 :)
I think 1960 might be notable for, among other things, being the only year when Mikio Naruse was the premier Japanese director - people should check out his films from around that time.

actually Im participating and I sent them to you Justin!
On second thought, I don't think I've seen enough 60's films to make top 10 lists for each individual year.
1. Psycho (1960) by Alfred Hitchcock
2. Breathless (1960) by Jean-Luc Godard
3. L'avventura (1960) by Michelangelo Antonioni
4. Peeping Tom (1960) by Michael Powell
5. The Virgin Spring (1960) by Ingmar Bergman
6. Hanyo (1960) by Kim Ki-young
7. Le Trou (1960) by Jacques Becker
8. The Testament of Orpheus (1960) by Jean Cocteau
9. La Dolce vita (1960) by Federico Fellini
10. Comanche Station (1960) by Budd Boetticher

I thought you said we'd get two weeks?
I had seen quite a few films from 1960--- enough that I could nominate 10 movies and still leave off several movies that I thoroughly enjoy. 1961 is the opposite. I don't even think I've seen 10 movies from that year, and not all of them are great. I think I have La Notte and Jules and Jim on my DVR, though, so that's two more potential nominees I have available to watch.
At the very least, I have The Hustler, Yojimbo and The Innocents to fall back on. The Misfits and Splendor in the Grass are both solid, interesting films. And um . . . yeah, besides 101 Dalmatians and Night Tide, some random movie with Dennis Hopper, that's about it for me when it comes to 1961. Any recommendations?
