Will update this main post soon. But this thread is for my short film reviews and things.
:) Will keep an eye on it.
Any suggestions from anyone?

I've seen tons of shorts lately, but didn't tag them on RYM and am too lazy to look for them manually from my ratings page.
I haven't delved into shorts much, but I recommend Meshes of the Afternoon, and stuff by The Quay Brothers and Jan Svankmajer.

Mr Hublot (2013, 11 minutes)

Mr Hublot is a great short animated film with a sweet, heartwarming story and some lighthearted humor. It has great visuals and was a very nice watch.

I recommend Laurel and Hardy's shorts from the twenties and thirties. :)
Yuriy Norshteyn animation is wonderful. Highly recommended.

Any suggestions from anyone?
Off the top of my head
Cigarettes and Coffee (Paul Thomas Anderson)
Night and Fog (Alain Resnais)
La Jetee (Chris Marker)
The Singing Trophy (Grant Lahood - might be hard to find, saw it on an old VHS in class)
The Red Balloon (Albert Lamorisse)
Franz Kafka's It's a Wonderful Life (Peter Capaldi)
Un Chien Andalou (Luis Bunuel)
The Immigrant (Charlie Chaplin)
Kitchen Sink (Alison Maclean)
Toyland (Jochen Freydank)
Two of the three New York Stories segments - Allen's Oedipus Wrecks and Scorsese's Life Lessons - Coppola's is missable IMO
and PES's (very) short films are brilliant, just one of several:

I'd also recommend Jan Svankmajer, as Swan mentioned.
La Jetee (Chris Marker)
The Red Balloon (Albert Lamorisse)
Un Chien Andalou (Luis Bunuel)
I second these. Didn't even think of them. Un Chien Andalou is the perfect intro to one of my all-time favorite directors, Luis Bunuel.

Toyland (2007, 13 minutes)
http://ayoungfilmmaker.files.wordpress.com/2009/07/spielzeugland-toyland.jpg
Toyland is a fantastic short film, with great cinematography and a great plot. It is very heartfelt and I thought it had a "Life is Beautiful" feel, just without the humor. I enjoyed this a LOT. I would definitely watch this one again. Thanks for the suggestion.

Short #3
14th May 2014 Cont.
The Lucky Dog (1921, 24 minutes)
http://tomsoter.com/files/images/MISC%20PHOTOS%203_0025.jpg
The Wrong Dog is my first Laurel and Hardy film since I was a kid, and I can't remember the ones or one I watched much. I liked this, a lot, it took a few minutes to adapt to the style but once I did I took it back to the beginning. I am looking forward to the next Laurel and Hardy film that I watch.

Watch Jiri Trnka's The Hand

I will definitely look at that soon. Thanks for sharing. :)
Short #4

This is Paranoia (2006?, 2.5 minutes)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=pDAG_25Wxd4
This is Paranoia is a fun little super-short, with some nice shots, decent enough music and a funny ending. It's nothing fantastic but I did enjoy it.

This is a great idea for a thread. I've been quite into animated short films in the last years, not so much lately. I made a list of favorites long ago, it is not updated, but I hope it serves:
http://www.filmaffinity.com/en/userlist.php?user_id=540682&list_id=870
Authors like Don Hertzfeldt, Yuriy Norshteyn, Blu, Jérémy Clapin and Aleksandr Petrov are specially recommended.
Thank you so much! I will definitely take a look. :)

Watch Dream of a Ridiculous Man or else.
I'll keep that one in mind then. I'm on my phone at the moment though so I'll do it when I'm free and at my laptop :)

I second A Trip to the Moon. Ahead of it's time, that one.
Harvey Krumpet too.
Yeah still need to watch all three of the shorts posted here. A Trip to the Moon is a must though, I wrote about it in my last article for the media magazine place I go to. I wrote about how special effects have developed and with this being of the more influential movies for special effects.
