Wonder if there's any fans of this series here. I really enjoy most of them and have a soft spot as they got me into Horror at a young age. Not the smartest Horror movies ever but they're fun. i think they are all pretty damn bad, around 2 or so. The Final Chapter has always been my favorite, and its probably the best of the series alongside the original.

To me, Freddy vs. Jason doesn't really feel like an actual "FRIDAY THE 13TH" movie, despite Jason being in it. I put it at number one, though, because I do think it was probably the best made. But as for the Friday the 13th-ness itself, I wouldn't rush to that one first when I need a Jason fix.

Thanks :) To be honest it's the only one of the series that I really enjoyed. It's so intentionally ridiculous and the appearance of Uber-Jason is one of the funniest things I've ever seen in a horror movie.

It's been too long since I've seen Jason Goes to Hell (which I might revisit today) or Jason X, but I remember the former being bottom of the pile stuff and the latter being dumb fun.

I couldn't muster a shit to give about the remake.

To me, Part II is easily the best horror film of this entire franchise, there's not even a conversation to be had about it. The OG is a pretty darn good slasher, though.
The rest are varying degrees of crap, but some are amusing crap. And some are just crap.

It's a fun exercise. I did it a few years ago during the early part of the pandemic, since I had actually never brought myself to watch V, VII, Manhattan, or Hell.

It's funny you say that. I have nightmares with Jason in them not that infrequently. They're f*cking terrifying.
Usually it's an indicator that there's something in my life that I have an underlying anxiety about that I haven't uncovered yet.
Jason was the first "real", contemporary (like post-Dracula/Frankenstein/Werewolf) horror movie villain I ever saw and let's just say he made an impression on me that's lasted for 40 years.

11. Part 5: A New Beginning - Third worst slasher I've seen. That was no way to continue Tommy's story.
10. Part II - Just a complete rehash of the first.
9. Part 8: Jason Takes Manhattan - Just plain dumb.
8. Part 7: The New Blood - Not as dumb as 8 but dumb.
7. Part 3: Another rehash of the first with a little more plot.
6. Remake: A little scarier than most of the sequels, but still just there.
5. Jason Goes to Hell - I know it's not common to put this so high, but it's still only two stars. And at least it tried to have a plot, so I'll give it that.
4. Friday the 13th - OK-ish slasher and the first one to get close to three stars.
3. Jason Lives - Another fairly plot-driven sequel.
2. Part 4: The Final Chapter - Finally, a plot!
1. Freddy vs. Jason - OK, these fight scenes were badass, the plot was interesting, and it made Freddy a real threat again.

This surprises me as the second film has a different villain than the first and, for me, has an edgier vibe. I consider it the best in the franchise, easily, though I also enjoy the first one.
Meanwhile, I consider FvJ to be the worst in the franchise by a good margin, an unwatchable film for me that I almost walked out of in the theater and then did turn off halfway through when I watched it last year.
But, that's what makes the world go 'round, I guess.

I actually love Jason's original look before he got the hockey mask, not sure if it's supposed to be a nod to the Phantom Killer in The Town That Dreaded Sundown or not. And the big reveal at the end with the whole "there's someone else in the room!" scene is so good.
