Can you remember the most beautiful theater you ever saw a movie in?
Here in California there are old theaters from the 30's and 40's that are being torn down to make way either for parking, or the contemporary 20 screen megaplex's this generation is so familiar with.
Do you think big theater companies should make cineplexes architectually stunning, or are you happy with the basics?

Good atmosphere is always good to raise the level of well-being before, during and after the film experience. It's nice to feel that something special is about to happen. But I'm not coplaining as long as the screen is good, the sound is good, the seat is good and there's enough room for my legs.
Damn, R66! You're a busy little bee on this board. We likes!

The Castro Theatre in San Francisco, a beautiful old movie palace, erected in 1922. Frisco has a few palaces left, but The Castro is the most stunning. They play almost exclusively Revival stuff, and it's always an event to venture down there.

The Loews Waterfront Theater in Pittsburgh. It's the theater I saw the one-day-early premiere of Die Another Day in. I dug it severely. Allegedly, it cost $22 million to build.

Cool theatres guys! The Castro looks like the one we have here, called the Regent, tho it's not for movies, only plays and concerts.
I prefer theatres that have high back chairs, enough cushioning so that my butt doesn't go numb and same with you Piddzilla, enough room in front for me for my legs. I'm tall, I need space.
