Scout/Juno MacGuff - Regarding post content, the most mind numbing idiocy imaginable. Could drop spam by the ton. Just thousands of posts of pretty words with no real intent, intelligence, or meaning behind them. What bothered me most about this "person" (no I dont believe he/she was a 16 year old girl) was how many decent people here catered, repped, and included he/she into the leagues and such. Then he/she would leave.

Hapax Legomania - Seemed like he only wanted to post vague references & spoilers to Game Of Thrones (Did you know he read the books?! :eek: Ooooo! Aaaaah!). Wouldnt be surprised if he shows up again when season 4 starts, and does the same crap again.

Haha! I have the Marmite and there are plenty of places that sell good chocolate i.e. European stuff. The bacon here's the streaky kind though, unless you get peameal bacon which is unsmoked and breaded...yes breaded. Yuck. I swear the beans here are flown in from Chernobyl...disgusting.

How about some nice historic architecture, a decent boozer and a new Canadian/North American law that makes calling football 'soccer' punishable by a slap. How about a row of shops (or strip malls as they're referred to here) that doesn't look the same as every other row of bloody shops.

Sigh I could go on but for the fact there are many good things about Canada, like the absence of dog sh:t on the pavements (sorry sidewalks), and there's no such thing as chavs. God I even miss the chavs.

I must say that, on my briefest of US stops, I was surprised how quickly I missed proper shops that were actually just down the road, as opposed to 10 miles away and, as you say, a strip mall and kettles. Why does no one have a kettle? I mean, I know why, but have you tasted coffee that's been in a percolator for hours? It's awful. God I missed greenery, too, though I was in the desert, so that's not something I'd associate with N.America in general.

I can't remember the last time I saw dog **** on the pavement. But then, I don't live in a city.

It was G that created the MoFies and she and I worked really closely last year getting the 2015 awards together and making them better than the 2014 awards.

Camo too. Even though he had some drunken rants, he was a pivotal part of the forum. A great personality with a real passion for movies.
He was also the main man when it comes to tournaments. It's gonna feel so weird with the next Top 100 Actors list held by someone else.

(I should mention that I've struggled with the nunsploitation in the past, perhaps because I'm not a Christian / wasn't raised in a Christian household so the religious tensions that come with the genre I don't necessarily relate to directly. But it's been a while since I've given the genre a go. Who knows, maybe I'll love it now. )

Unfortunately it's extremely common that someone sees something and never bothers to report it, and sometimes even makes uncharitable assumptions about the mods because they assume we can monitor everything and, if it's up, it must be because we approve (or even agree) with it. So, a reminder: people are specifically invited to PM Sedai or myself about anything questionable they see, or even just to ask! :) I know a lot of mods take that kind of thing as an inherent act of defiance, but we don't. We invite all questions or comments on that, provided people are willing to hear us out on any explanation for why something might not meet the standards of removal.

Unfortunately I think that, too--getting used to a new community's rules and standards--is something that causes a lot of "refugee" forumers to bounce off of a place like this (but really, it would happen with almost any new forum). If someone's coming from a relatively small, insular, tight-knit group that had really clear norms and was pretty homogeneous in its attitudes, any place that's even a little more pluralistic (yes, even to those people, whatever that term means to each individual) probably feels intolerably permissive.

Yeah, Rock had a weird reaction to a discussion on artistic integrity on films thread and stopped posting right after.
I’m not sure it was the reason, and may have been a coincidence, but the timing fits.

Thanks for mentioning me in here. I'll be back when possible, but my mother-in-law fell down a flight of stairs and broke her femur. She also hit her head which caused dementia and memory loss. I've been very busy taking care of both her and my father-in-law.


Unfortunately my father-in-law wasn't feeling well today, so we're in the hospital ER right now, waiting for test results. So far, all they know is that he has an irregular heartbeat, but they don't know why yet.


He's been resting while here, and he says he's feeling better than he felt earlier today, so hopefully that's a good sign.


I miss chatting with all of you, and I hope to be back online soon.

It took me a second to realize this wasn't just a copy of my post. I still have time for movies, but when it comes to writing reviews and posting here, I frequently feel too cramped for that.
