Ahhhhh my favorite time of year, nothing but wall to wall basketball. Any of you guys doing the billion dollar bracket pool? (not that anyone will win it) Top 20 brackets do get 100,000. I usually do a pool for me and my friends get about at least 150 in the pot. Guys get into any decent pools?
And who do you guys got? Any predictions? Who is your guys final four? I have to let it soak in for a day or two before I give a solid prediction. Going be hard to not pick my Gators thou. Thank goodness for this basketball season because that football season was hard to take.
Let the Maddness begin.

I am not educated enough to make any decent predictions, I would just like to see my Horns play well. They are a really young group, so I don't really see them making a deep push. A couple victories would be nice though.

I could see them getting but Arizona State by Michigan would be a tough out. They might be able to I know they are bigger. They are definitely in the toughest region. I hate UF's draw. I didn't want to be the number 1 overall seed, seems like they love to stack that region. Arizona has a cake wake to the final four. And Virginia's region is easier then UF's as well.

I posted that before I looked at the bracket. Michigan will probably beat us....if we can get by Arizona State. We've had a rough stretch to finish the season off, I'm not even entirely sure we will win that game.

Well like I said I know for a fact you guys are a lot bigger then Michigan. Michigan's biggest guy McGary is out for the year and they were already a smaller team. I think a Sweet 16 would be a very good result for you guys.

It'd be nice, but even without superior size Michigan could do what Baylor did and stuff the paint and deny entry. We have no shooters, so we will have a tough time with anybody who watched the Baylor game.
Billion Dollar Quicken Pool. From Slate (http://www.slate.com/articles/sports/sports_nut/2014/03/billion_dollar_bracket_challenge_why_it_s_a_bad_idea_to_enter_warren_buffett.html)
"As Yahoo and Quicken note in the fine print of their rules page: 'odds of winning the Grand Prize are 1:9,223,372,036,854,775,808.' That’s 1 in 9 quintillion and change....Jeff Bergen, a math professor at DePaul University, derived a more realistic calculation that takes basketball knowledge into account. If you know the sport pretty well, he concludes, your chances of picking perfectly are more like 1 in 128 billion....ESPN has been running a large-scale bracket contest for 13 years. Nobody has ever come close to perfection, the sports network’s John Diver told CNN in January. Only one person in the last seven years managed to pick just the first-round winners correctly."
Good luck.

Dayton seems to be giving Ohio State a hard time. The very first real game of the tournament could be an "upset."
We should have done a MoFo bracket. Wish I was home watching right now. Go 'Cuse.

Dayton wins. Nice! Love upsets. Should quite afew of them this year as it sounds like the consensus is that there aren't a bunch a really good teams this year.

My ignorant-of-the-NCAA-basketball-landscape final four: Kansas, Iowa State, Wisconsin, Duke. I just filled the bracket out by saying either "Oooh that would be cool, I'll put it down." or "Oooh that would be cool, but that's why it won't happen." In my Sweet Sixteen I have a 6, 7, 8, 9, and 12 seed. So, yeah.

Assuming Oregon and Florida wins, i didn't do too bad to start the day. Only had Ohio state wrong thus far. Nailed the Harvard pick.

Actually I had Duke, thought I had Michigan.

I got the Harvard pick as well. I missed the Oregon and Dayton picks.
I have Michigan, Michigan st., Florida, Syracuse. It would have been impossible for me to watch less college ball this year. I love tourney time though. Second best sporting event of the year.

I'm doing awful, but I haven't done a bracket in a few years.
I actually picked Cinnci to win it all :(
That was a rough loss

It's nice to see OU lose at anything, so I'd like to send a thank you out to ND State.

Uconn was saved, but OU killed me. And Nc state with an epic blowup vs. a saint Louis team that has fallen apart lately.

This has been one of the better first days of the tournament in quite some years. Still looks like I will only be 12/16 today.

Not bad keeping teams alive though. I think I still have 14 of my 16 sweet sixteens, only missing Oklahoma and duke.
The only decent thing about a Duke losing is everybody picked them so it doesn't beat up the bracket too bad. North Carolina gave me a scare, makes me nervous going forward. I have them all the way to 4.

03-22-14, 12:39 AM
How crazy was that Stephen F. Austin game. I'm hoping coastal Carolina can win, but Virginia is pulling away.
jiraffejustin
03-22-14, 01:19 AM
I missed most of the days game but I see Duke was eliminated. So that doesn't help my bracket. SF Austin won, so that's nice. I somewhat followed them this year, kinda, so I know they are a pretty good team. Okie State and Duke are the only two teams from my Sweet Sixteen that are eliminated. Kentucky is up 6 with less than a minute left, I am expecting them to hold on.

03-22-14, 02:16 PM
My picks for the day:
Florida over Pitt
Syracuse over Ohio State (Dayton)
Michigan State over Harvard
Villanova over St. Joe's (UConn)
SDSU over Oklahoma (NDSU)
Wisconsin over BYU (Oregon)
Louisville over St. Louis
Texas over Michigan (total homer pick)
EDIT: I have Iowa State going to the Final Four. Georges Niang fracturing his foot may prevent this from occurring.

My final four is Arizona, Florida, Duke and Iowa State. With Duke in the final game. opps. I never trusted Duke this year they shoot way too many 3s and are not big. Everyone was picking Louisville, Michigan and Wichita State so I wanted to be different. Should have stuck with my instincts. Also I didn't watch the Kentucky- Wichita game but it's a shame I didn't have a chance to. Looked like a classic only thing preventing it from being remembered for a long long time was if he made that 3 at the buzzer. Also my Gators looking good!!!!! If we can get by UCLA, which might cause us trouble they are big and playing hot, then I'm confident against Standford or Dayton. So Pumped!!

Tennessee made a heck of a run. I am disappointed that they couldn't pull off the upset.
