T.V Characters Tournament -Serial dramas

I thought this would be a fun idea for a tournament. Everyone's favorite t.v characters from serial dramas past or present going head to head until one is left victorious.

Hopefully people are interested in this. If you want in, just say so and I'll divide up nominations after I know how many people are playing. It will either be 64 or 128 depending on how many people join.

I'm going to leave this open until Monday night, then we can start.

Sadly, I haven't watched many "serial dramas" per say, but I'm pretty confident that Breaking Bad will be well represented, so for now I'll pass.

I watch a lot more t.v. than I used to. I really like being able to stay with the characters for a long time and that feeling of not being able to wait to see what happens in the next episode.

You can always just come in and vote whenever you feel like it. You don't have to nominate anything. I don't know about Don Draper, but I'm fairly certain Tony Soprano will receive a nomination from someone.

Here is the web definition: Serials are series of television programs and radio programs that rely on a continuing plot that unfolds in a sequential episode-by-episode fashion. ...

So all the examples fit into that definition even though they differ in genre. Basically, anything that has a continuing storyline is allowed. They differ from situation comedies because even though a situation comedy may somewhat of a story arc, mostly everything comes to a conclusion within an episode. Something like Little House on the Prairie wouldn't count either because it was pretty much contained within a single episode. I do love that show though.

It doesn't have to be American and any supporting and one time characters are allowed. That's fine. :)

I'm in, though I'm not completely clear on the rules yet.

It's simple. There will be 8 matches a day; character vs character. Vote for the character you like best in each match. If you are not familiar with a character simply skip that match and vote in the matches where you know both characters.

The winners from each match will go into the next round. It continues like this until there is one remaining character.

Also all characters are pitted against each other randomly. This may mean that at times you have a character against another one of your characters. It doesn't mean I'm out to get anyone. I use random.org and how ever it turns out the first time is what I go with. :)

Very very tough decision, love both of these, although for the first four seasons at least John Locke was probably the best thing about LOST and one of the most fascinating and strangest characters created. Paulie was hilarious and great, but was helped by other great characters such as Chris and Silvio around him.

Lila was annoying and strange, whilst Mike was a character who really grew on me as his character was developed from an annoying hitman that lacked much emotional depth to someone who developed a real human relationship with Jesse.

Won't vote in those where I haven't seen both but I am really hoping that Gordon Cole, Al Swearengen and Rust Cohle make it through, three of my favourite characters ever created. Would include Walter White and James Doakes in that sentences, but I am pretty sure they'll both make it without me :p

Yeah, I can explain that. Captain Picard and someone else were in a tie. I still needed characters due to so many people dropping out at the last minute, so I decided to send them both through. I know. That was horrible. I really wanted Michonne to win, but I knew it was impossible. I find The Sopranos lacking in story a bit, but the characters are fantastic.
