I just made an amazing sandwich and it got me wondering.....what are some of your favorite sandwiches? Bologna and cheese is acceptable along with anything, but I lean towards more unconventional routes! Lately I have been really enjoying pepperoni, banana peppers, bacon, and shredded cheese all oven baked on a toasted hot dog bun with two over easy eggs on top! Now this is not an every day meal or anything! Just an idea I had and followed through with and I am so glad I did! I have others, too, but what are some of YOUR favorites?

Can you take a picture of this?
It sounds appetizing, but I would use some other kind of bread (not a hot dog bun) and put the eggs between the bread. Then I would add pepperoni, banana peppers, jalapenos, cheese... ham... red peppers, salami, and onions. I wouldn't use the bacon, but it might be good.
Your version just sounds like too much work for a simple hot dog bun.

It was all I had at the time, regrettably. What bread would you suggest for next time? And jalepenos do sounds great!

Some kind of bread that's big and thick.
But not like sub sandwich bread. Something smaller and square.

Something like this. But a little bigger.

Ahhhh.......ciabatta maybe? I bet that would be awesome. The bun actually held it together rather well. I was surprised.

I would also try my world famous hamburger/hot dogs/french fries sandwich.
Put a hamburger on a hamburger bun, add two grilled hot dogs on top, put some thick cut french fries on the bottom side of the hamburger (or any type of french fries, really). Add mustard on top for the hot dogs, ketchup on the bottom for the french fries. Add onions and other things if you wish. Mushrooms can be divine.
You can also substitute the mustard and ketchup for chili on both sides, or dip it in chili. You can also substitute the hot dogs for sausage.

Wow I know what I am trying this weekend! Crinkle cut fries or any particular brand you use?

I feel like the type of fries could be the most important part of that sandwich.

Any type you want. Whatever type of fries you normally desire with your hamburger or french fries.
Personally, though, I wouldn't use crinkle cut. I would use something like steak fries.
Seasoned fries would work better with the sausage.

You could also coat the whole concoction in melted mozzarella cheese.

My favorite sandwich is hummus on pita bread with pepper relish l, fresh spinach and onion.
This is the pepper relish I'm talking about: http://imageshack.com/a/img62/6193/wlz9.jpg
It's the best stuff in the world.

I have never been a hummus fan, but that relish looks amazing.

A local place (with a couple locations around Pittsburgh) called Peppi's make this. It's hot sausage, mayo, lettuce, and a fried egg (I always get it without the tomato). They have lots of other sandwiches, some of which I'm sure are great, but I'll never know because I have to get this every time I go. Here's what the location near me looks like:

My wife also makes homemade breaded chicken sandwiches that are pretty incredible.

I love hot sausage and egg sandwiches that looks incredible!
I...am starving...I want food!
My favorite sandwich lately is...
The Cuban

I'm sure I've posted this before, but there are two things I love about it:
1) If I go when I'm significantly hungry (not starving), and I get it with fries, I almost always feel full when I'm done, but not uncomfortably stuffed.
2) The bread really holds together nicely. One of the most important parts of big, awesome, messy sandwiches is how easy they actually are to eat. No matter how good a sandwich is while being eaten, if it's always falling apart and I have to clean my hands after every bite, I'm not going to enjoy it as much. The bread here looks weirdly cheap, but it's just the right mix of soft and firm and very little falls off the sandwich.

That looks amazing also!
Sandwiches, in general, can be pretty amazing.

That is a good point. The bread is the most important part of a messy sandwich.

It is. Back when I was eating meat I'd use it in tuna salad instead of the usual pickle relish. Also it's absolutely amazing on pastrami. I miss pastrami.

I love the fact that the humble Grilled Cheese Sandwich has recently become such an attention-getter. Food trucks, contests, entire restaurants devoted to the sandwich in various forms...
...I guess it really IS hip to be square!
