Images in Posts

Vote! Should attached images show up directly in posts, or remain as links? There are pros and cons to each. I'm leaning towards having them simply appear. We can always try it for awhile and see how it goes over (I think it'd go over well...this board is quite well-behaved on the whole). Whatcha think?

Doesn't matter to me.... at first, I hated that they didn't just simply appear. Now, I kinda like it. Doesn't take forever to load a thread and it makes the picture a "surprise".

The only problem I can think of, is when they dont know to resize their image before uploading, then you are going to have this ungodly huge scrolling thing going on....

can you make it so it is resized to respectible like say 250by300 or something...

I know some of the images I have clicked on are HUGE....
like 1024by768 you dont want to have only ONE post per page or this big scrolling thing...
right?

This is the only Forum I visit that doesn`t allow images directly in posts.
Like SC, I thought it was a bit of a pisser at first, but I`ve gotten so used to it here now that it doesn`t bother me one way or the other.
Have to agree with Film Fr3ak as well on the size issue.
My modem stutters along at a Blistering 31.2kbps...Having 1024x768`s all over the place would give the sucker a seizure.

You guys do know that you don't have to "attach" the image via the script prompt above the reply box, yes? All you have to do is put [ img ] [ /img ] inside brackets, similar to the way you do italics, boldface type, or colors. Just be sure an include the http:// at the beginning of the address.

That way you don't have the "attached image" scrawl above your pic.

Holden, I had tried the [img] brackets before and I just wasn't doing something right. Does it need to be linked to another website, or can you just open it in the Navagator Program and copy and paste?

It needs to refer to a global location, not a local (IE: on your hard drive) one. An actual URL pointing to an image.

Well, you'd upload one, but more likely you'd just find another image on the 'Net and use its location.
