I'm still in shock...I don't remember a main character being killed off an animated series before. I thought it was going to be something along the line of the episode where Stewie killed Lois, or we were going to learn that the whole thing was a dream, but no such luck. Regular characters die on live action TV all the time, but this really messed with my head for some reason, I can't stop thinking about it...I guess Seth wanted to shake things up a bit. And to add insult to the injury, halfway through the show, the Griffins got another dog!!! It was like spitting on Brian's not even cold grave.

What!! No no, no that's impossible!!!
I haven't watched the new episode but i know the new dog is voiced by the guy who plays Paulie in the Sopranos, who was my favourite character. I honestly don't care anyway, it's not going to make me view it again as Family Guy hasn't been good since about season 5 imo.

That's not true. Family Guy has never been good.

The Simpsons should kill off Bart and continue the series without him. THAT would be ballsy.

That would definitely bring a bigger whiplash than what happened with the death of Brian. There was a time when Bart was the biggest draw for the show, especially internationally. I dunno, he might still be, but they would surely grab the attention of a lot of people.
I like all of the Simpsons characters, so I wouldn't approve of this haha.

I don't even watch it that much, but I am still pissed about it. From what I've read, Seth wanted that guy to voice a character and they also wanted to shake things up, so they offed Brian. They could have killed that dumbass giggity guy, or any other of Seth's stupid characters that he voices, but not Brian. The antics of him and Stewie were the only watchable things in the whole show.

I never cared for Brian. He was the one Family Guy character who never really grew on me. Tis a blessing for me that he was the victim. But I do think that the new dog sucks. An Italian dog. Ooooh. How badass.

I haven't seen or heard the new dog, but I'm betting he's pretty obnoxious. I'm pretty tired of the whole Italian Mafia thing.

As expected, Brian has been resurrected.
This is from "Deadline Hollywood:
Well, we never bought that “Brian is dead” hysteria because it made no creative and business sense. But many did. And just like that, after three weeks in heaven, The Griffins’ beloved pooch was back last night with the help of a Christmas wish and a travel back in time. Seth MacFarlane, who voices Brian, tweeted, “And thus endeth our warm, fuzzy holiday lesson: Never take those you love for granted, for they can be gone in a flash. I mean, you didn’t really think we’d kill off Brian, did you? Jesus, we’d have to be f***ing high. Oh and hey… thanks for caring so much about the canine Griffin. He is overcome with gratitude.”

Yeah, all the fuss was for nothing. And it's funny, I love Brian and am glad that he's back, but once I got used to the idea of him being gone, I thought it was an extremely bold and groundbreaking move for Seth to make. I'm a little disappointed that he punked out and resurrected Brian.

It was just a weird thing to do. From what I read it did seem that MacFarlane had every intention of killing off Brian permanently and keeping the other dog around. I mean he went into a good bit of detail about how the new dog and Stewie's relationship would develop and I can't see putting that much thought into something that was never going to happen.

If Seth REALLY wants to kill the show he needs to add a new character voiced by Ted McGinley, the patron saint of shark jumping
