I missed the first season of SCANDAL but then sat down one night and watched season 1 marathon style and was totally hooked. Kerry Washington is charismatic as Olivia Pope, a Washington DC "fixer" who is having an off-again on-again affair with the President of the United States, played by Tony Goldwyn. This is the only show on TV right now where I sit down with baited breath every time an episode begins and scream when it's over because I can't wait to see what's going to happen next. From the brain of Shonda Rhimes, the creator of GREY'S ANATOMY, this deft melding of detective story, political drama, and prime time soap, this show features superlative writing and production values. The chemistry between Washington and Goldwyn is off the charts and they receive solid support from Jeff Perry, Bellamy Young, and Guillermo Diaz in supporting roles.

I love this programme. It's one of my favourites and, like you, one of the few that I really look forward to. The last episode I saw was episode 18 of Season 2.
I started watching from the get go, partly because it sounded like something I'd enjoy and, partly, because Kerry Washington is gorgeous.:D I agree, it's a wonderfully written show, with characters which are both interesting and intriguing.
Are you up to date with it? Or, like me, still finishing season 2?

Oh, I'm up to date now, but you should continue to watch in order...if you miss five minutes of this show, you will be totally confused.

I finished the second season yesterday. I loved the ending simply because the penultimate line was so obvious. I even said it out loud to fill in the 'dramatic' pause. The final line, though? Completely caught me. Floored. Loved it. :D I'm really looking forward to season 3.
So was our mid season return worth it???

So was our mid season return worth it???
I thought so, but then I'm of the opinion that this show rarely makes a wrong move.
I dont know - Im seriously getting bored with Olivia and Fitz. *the horror!!*
I feel like whenever they think they lost the audience, they throw us back to that tired old rag. Honestly, how many times is she going to quit him, then go back to him? Im done with Olivia - she's a side chick anyway. I need her to grow a pair, and move on with her life - and I feel like they keep teasing me that this is going to happen, then snatching that away like he's her soulmate or something. *barf*
At this point, I only watch the show for the other characters - and Im starting to get a serious jones for Mellie to come out on top. After her, I want Quinn to get some righteous payback for all the things she's had to suffer. Then, I want Dad Pope to beat Fitz down hard (figuratively, or course), and James to crush and destroy Cyrus and leave him in ashes. Finally, I want Jack and the Senator to find the love of their lives (not Olivia), and marry them without ever so much as a backward thought about Olivia.
Yeah. That's how much she disgusts me, with her woman-on-the-side being self.
