View Full Version : Treasure Planet
Behold. By our very own Sully, who does a wonderful job of putting up with my crap. ;D
Disney's Buried "Treasure" (http://www.movieforums.com/reviews/index.html?id=204)
Going to see Treasure Planet I expected to see Disney to make up for their crappy flops like Atlantis .
I was wrong. All I got was a familiarized story Disney made just thrown into my face. Sure it had a couple of smirky little gags and such but all in all it was , to me I guess, just a story i probably could have written myself.
I didn't go for it at all. C-

So do it.
Write a story that succeeds on the level of Robert Louis Stevenson's Treasure Island, and I'll think about accepting your "rating" of C- as valid.

Nice review Sully! I can sense that this movie really surprised you. That makes me want to take the chance myself.

It did, and if you're at all curious, I'd say it's worth it.

:nope: How you fret. T'aint no thang.
Sullivan...you're summary is impressive, especially comming from a non-Disney person, it means that much more. :)
I really loved Treasure Planet. The animation, the growing up story, the music and the voice actors. I loved Joseph Gordon-Levitt as Jim Hawkins. He surprised me with his range of emotions. I hope he does more voice acting.
Anyway, back to the movie. I saw this with three adults and sevens kids. We all loved it, adults and kids. The only comment from one of the adults was eventhough she loved it, she wished there was another human instead of all of the different creatures. It didn't bother me or take away from the movie. To each his/her own.
What's funny is the differences between what boys and girls like, and how young it starts.
Me: So kids...what did you like best about the movie?
Girls: When the cat and dog finally hugged.
Boys: The explosions!
I would recommend this movie to anyone.
