Why don't humans in computer animated films look realistically like humans, Whereas humans in computer games do?

No, what I mean is every time you see a computer generated animated film, say for instance "Ice Age", or "Monsters Inc." the animator's go through the trouble of making the world these characters live in so realistic. Chairs look like real chairs, doors look like real doors, trees look like real trees, etc.
But when it comes to the human characters, say the little girl from "Monster's Inc." or the little boy from "Ice Age," they look... cartoony; their eyes are too big for their bodies, their bodies aren't to scale--they just look, well unrealistic. Even "Shreks" human characters looked more like caricatures than real people, in my opinion.
I was channel surfing not too long ago, and I came across this film
on HBO or something, and I didn't recognize the actors on screen; come to find out it was the movie "Final Fantasy", a movie with no human actors. Boy it sure fooled me!

I think someone will probably say that computer anitmated films are just a step up from regular hand animation, and so the characters are just 3 dimentional cartoons. But even some hand drawn cartoon charaters look very human; Scooby-Doo, the old cartoon version, was an exageration of a dog, but Thelma, Daphne and Fred looked human enough.

The same thing happened to me with Final Fantasy. I was flipping around, and saw these somewhat odd looking characters. It took me a few seconds to realize they weren't real. Pretty impressive.
