Two little girls from two families are kidnapped presumably by psychos---and a slow mayhem ensues.....

Welcome to the art of making...and seeing....a slow paced thriller....
.....and welcome to making and seeing it at it's finest....

There is a suspect , but the police do not have enough evidence to hold him.....

So the father of one of the little girls decides to take the law in his own hands and kidnap the suspect to make him spell out the truth....

So one crime leads to another.....

But is the kidnapped suspect really the person who committed the original crime ??

If he is not then who did it ??

The movie does keep you on tenterhooks about the whole thing....

And it keeps you wondering what will happen for a long time....

For it's a long movie....long and languid and slow paced....

But does give you the jolts every once a while.....

And all the time the director creates a sense of impending doom....

The music is such that it adds to the mood of dark foreboding.....

You really start to lose hope that the girls ( or is it their dead bodies ?? ) will be found ever....

But an intrepid police officer does try to track the person who committed the crime with real persistence....

To be sure he makes horrendous mistakes while doing so.....

But he is not afraid to investigate anything....

And he goes alone like a lone ranger to follow up his leads.....

He goes down dangerous dark cellars and opens caskets full of poisonous snakes and disregards his own boss to track down the criminal....

So does he hit paydirt in the end ??

Go and watch the movie for that....

The music and mood of the film seems more suited for a horror rather than thriller movie at times , and it creates a tension that seeps through the body and mind.....

....And yet the movie seems to hardly move forward at times....

But when it does move it moves with twists and turns that keeps you riveted to your seat....

The thrills when they come do not come with flamboyant force but give you the shocks gently as dead bodies begin to pile up....

Acting by everyone is good , but the mood of the movie is dark and sombre in keeping with the grim topic at hand.....almost never a light or cheerful moment or laughter....

A dead serious movie....

But still a good one....

Verdict---Good .

I liked the movie a lot as well, and there's nothing wrong with a "dead-serious" movie every once in a while. :)

This review was horribly written, but I enjoyed it and would read more reviews. However, you should NOT make a thread dedicated solely to just one movie review.

Wow, Ashdoc only got a fraction of Sexy's wrath. He should consider himself lucky.

The first hour of this movie is really gripping; a shame it settles into a conventional thriller for the last third. *** / ****

It's our elitist attitude that makes us the envy of other movie boards.

This is one intense and drawn out film, maybe too much so. I wonder if this movie really had to be over two hours long? It felt even longer but not always in a tedious way. The subject matter is extremely heavy and morose and there is no break for the viewer right through the conclusion.

Maria Bello, Viola Davis, Terrence Howard and especially Hugh Jackman each give us at least one scene that breaks the heart. It’s powerful, intense acting at its most emotional peak. Despite the great performances however, this really is a one and done film for me. I recommend it but I can’t say I’d ever want to see or experience it ever again.
