A new sitcom starring Anna Faris from the SCARY MOVIE franchise as a single working mother trying to deal with raising her own teenage daughter and dealing with her recently sobered up mother played by Emmy winner Allison Janney. Janney is golden but I don't know if she's enough to make this show go.

Thought I would check in here and let you know that this show has become one of my favorites and not just because of Allison Janney...there's some really solid writing going on here.
Yeah its a good one. Glad to see her hit it big.

I love "Mom", and Allison Janney is just one reason why.
The only thing that really bothers me is that they wrote Kevin Pollak out of the show. I thought that he was a great addition to the show.

I miss Kevin Pollak too...I really liked the way he and Bonnie were re-working their relationship from scratch and I liked watching Christy liking her parents getting back together.

Just watched season 4 episode 8 and this is still one of the best sitcoms on the network right now...the writing has flashes of brilliance, Allison Janney kills it on a weekly basis and William Fichtner has been a fantastic addition to the show as Janney's new wheelchair-bound boyfriend. Also LOVE Jaime Pressly as the self-absorbed Jill.

Episode 11 had me on the floor...mostly due to the guest appearance of Chris Pratt, former star of Parks and Recreation and real life husband of this show's star, Anna Farris...it was nice to see off screen chemistry that is just as strong onscreen.

I laughed til I cried through episode 12, even though it was a little hard to believe these ladies didn't realize they were under the influence, it was still funny as hell.

This episode was hysterical. I loved when they were playing in the park, and Bonnie got up to talk to Adam, and she told them to "Hold my horse", and they tried to actually do it.
I was starting to get a bit bored with Bonnie's boyfriend Adam, but this episode turned that around and made me like him again.

I don't think I even knew who William Fichtner was before he was on "Mom", but he looks familiar, so I probably saw him in something that didn't leave much of an impact on me.

You need to check Fichtner's IMDB page...the man has a pretty impressive resume, even if most of it is supporting roles. I first noticed the guy when he played Josh Snyder, Luly's biological father on As the World Turns.

Just watched ep 13 and I'm not happy...please don't break up Bonnie and Adam. Actually, now that I think about it it was inevitable with Bonnie trying to stay sober and Adam still drinking.

I like Bonnie and Adam as a couple, but I also like this new guy that she met. I'm kind of on the fence as to who she should date. Maybe Adam will miss Bonnie so much that he'll decide to stop drinking and join their group.

That would be awesome if Adam decided to get sober, though not terribly realistic.

Their relationship won't work if he doesn't change. It's bad enough that he drinks while she's trying to stay sober, but he drinks IN FRONT OF HER, and he doesn't just drink 1 or 2 drinks. He drinks until he gets drunk, and that's very insensitive of him.
As much as I like Adam, he's bad for Bonnie. She needs someone better in her life. Someone who will help her stay sober, not be a temptation to her past problems. Adam just isn't the right guy for her.

It's nice that you can watch this show, (or any shows), with your mother. My Mom and I don't talk about this show, but she got me into "Star Trek" when I was younger, and now we talk about shows like "The Big Bang Theory", "Grimm" and "Arrow".

I have to confess I liked the new guy too, but I don't want to see William Fichtner go either...maybe a story where Bonnie continues to see the new guy on the side might motivate Adam to get sober because as much as Bonnie cares about Adam, at some point, he is going to seriously jeopardize her sobriety, in a much worse manner than the marijuana cookies, which were an accident. I don't want to see Bonnie force Adam to get sober because if she tries to get him sober, he will get her drunk first and I'm pretty sure that Bonnie is in a point in her sobriety that she will not risk it for Adam and that might motivate Adam to try and get sober.

(Starting to think she's just a Chuck Lorre fan with the exception of not getting all the pop cultural references in TBBT)

Bonnie can't force Adam to get sober. He has to decide to get sober on his own. Hopefully he'll realize how much he loves her, and he'll want to get sober so they can get back together.
Having said that, I'd like to see them give Bonnie a chance with this new guy. I think she could be very happy with him, and he seems better for her than Adam.

I loved "Two and a Half Men" until Charlie Sheen left. After he left, the show just went straight downhill. I think the only other Chuck Lorre show I watched was "My Two Dads". I don't like most of his other shows.

There was a TV show a few years ago called "Dads". It starred Seth Green and Giovanni Ribisi as the sons, and Peter Riegert and Martin Mull as their Dads. It was very funny, but it only lasted one season.

Ep 17 had me on the floor, thanks primarily to Jaime Pressly, the woman is brilliant and is actually giving Allison Janney a run for her money in the art of scene stealing.

does anyone know if this show can be streamed anywhere?
Depends on what you mean: it can be streamed from CBS' site, and it can be bought online (and subsequently streamed, potentially, depending on your technical setup, I guess?) on Amazon and iTunes.
For stuff like this, I find Just Watch (https://www.justwatch.com/us/tv-show/mom) very helpful, BTW.

yeah, i want to stream it through my TV, not my laptop. the HDMI outlet on my laptop is forked so i can no longer plug it in and watch stuff like i used to - i have Hulu, Netflix, Amazon Prime, and HBO GO which i watch through my ps4.
I dunno if you have a Roku or a Chromecast or something, but the latter helps me stream things without having to do some annoying HDMI/laptop thing.
You mentioned a PS4; that site says it's available on their media store (whatever it's called; never used it), FWIW.

Well, I just finished watching my first Christy-free episode of Mom. I was seriously concerned when I heard that Anna Feris was leaving the show, but the writers wrote the character off in a realistic fashion and proved what a rock solid cast they have without her, led, of course, by the brilliant Allison Janney as Bonnie and the severely underrated William Fichtner as Adam, who I'm hoping will get more screentime this season with Feris gone. The show has begun a smooth transition into season 8 and have dealt with the loss of their star without missing a step.

Just finishing the third Christy-free episode of Mom. I love any episode that addresses Bonnie's self-centered nature and behavior that forces her to make amends, especially to Adam (William Fichtner). I love the fact that even though Adam is wheelchair-bound, he still wears the pants in that marriage. I'm also liking the relationship that's developing between Adam and Tammy (Kristen Johnson). There was a time when it was implied that Tammy had a mad crush on Adam and I thought they were going to have her try to steal Adam from Bonnie, but I'm relieved they didn't go there.

Ep 4...was a lot of fun, primarily due to the masterful acting of Allison Janney, William Fichtner, Jaime Lyn Pressly, and Will Sasso as Bonnie and Adam became relationship counselors...every moment they had onscreen was comic gold. The idea of Tammy and Chef Rudy hasn't really seem to found its ground yet, but I'll be patient.

I don't like Tammy or Chef Rudy, but I think if they focus more on Bonnie, Adam, and the other women, the show should still be good even without Christy.

Allison Janney and William Fichtner are comic gold together and whenever the focus is on Bonnie and Adam, it's easy to ignore any problems with the show.

Ep 15 was a lot of fun...even though they did make up and decide to give it another go, I still don't think Bonnie and Tammy in business together is going to last because, deep down, Bonnie really doesn't think she did anything wrong (shocker). Loved Bonnie and Tammy's musical chairs at the meeting, Adam trying to play mediator between them and Dan Bucatinsky as Bonnie and Tammy's first client. Still can't believe CBS has cancelled this show (Grrrrr).

Just finished the series finale which was a pretty flawless blend of laughter and warmth that this show has always provided. The show managed to show the evolution of the Bonnie character through her desire to help a newcomer (Melanie Lynskey of Two and a Half Men). Loved that Jill and Andy ended up together because it showed the growth of the Jill character as well, who finally learned to look further than the exterior for happiness. I was kind of wishing for a cameo from Anna Feris, but that was not to be. Allison Janney did nail Bonnie's final share though...a lovely finale to a show that remained appointment viewing for me until the end and I'm still hoping someone might fix CBS's mistake and pick up this show.

I was disappointed with the finale. I know that they were trying to show how Bonnie has grown since the beginning of the show, but with the exception of Jill and Andy, it just didn't feel like a series finale. They added two new characters, who probably would have been good additions to the show if it continued, and then the show just ended. It felt like it was missing something.

Maybe the two new characters were added in the hope that the series might be picked up by someone else.
