I didn't like Army of Darkness after loving the first 2 of the series. I thought about watching it again but if I didn't like it as a teenager, I'm not going to like it now.
Night of the Living Dead is a good classic.
Zombieland is very enjoyable, First Blood is awesome and Taxi Driver is my 2nd favorite movie.
I haven't seen Planet of the Apes.

I quite enjoy Big Trouble in Little China but at the same time have always been disappointed with it. Given that it's Carpenter and Russell and how awesome the plot sounded I thought it would something I truly loved but that's yet to be the case. As far as Carpenter goes would have quite a number of his films ahead of it - They Live, Escape from New York, Assault on Precinct 13, The Fog, Christine

I can't make up my mind about Alien. I didn't like it when I first saw it, then it's improved with the next few watches, to a point where I thought it was ok. However, watched it again last week and... Nah. It didn't work and I was pretty bored.

The original slasher flick! And IMO the best.
If you discount movies like Peeping Tom, Psycho and Bava's and Argentu's giallo, Black Christmas still came out four years earlier, and I think they're all better than Halloween. But nice list and formatting. :)

Very true. The first film of the films most associated with and helping spurn slasher movie popularity to new heights is probably the better statement.
But IMHO it is still the best.
While I've agreed with most of the films on your list I've seen there are also a few biggies I've not seen, namely any of the Alien films and Good, Bad and Ugly.
Seven Samurai is another tremendous film that would also make my top 40 at the very least. Halloween however I thought was dull and pretty poor. To be fair though it's really not my type of film to begin with
Halloween is a classic horror flick. I love it. Michael Myers in that film is terrifying. He has no backstory, there is no reason for why he murders, he just does.A Boogeyman.

I don't know, but it's set in the depression and it has that look. I think it's the look that I don't like. Would you say they have the same colour palette as Westerns? I think it's that dusty/sandy browns and yellows that I don't like.
