Infestation is a scifi horror comedy about giant bugs taking over the world. You don't find out until late in the movie where these bugs come from; are they aliens, or are they some government experiment gone awry? There's a small variety of creepy crawlies working together to conquer the humans, including wasps that fly around to search for victims to carry to the nest, stag beetles that crawl about the ground and bite people's ankles, and one gigantic centipede-like creature in the final act which appears to be the "queen." Infestation also fits snugly into the zombie genre. When someone gets stung by a wasp, they become a hybrid drone that works for the bugs.
The hero of the story is a socially inept slacker named Cooper who provides most of the comedy for the film. Those accompanying Cooper are fairly interesting, though they're all horror archetypes we've seen before. There's even a blonde woman in the film who isn't very bright, but not completely feckless. It becomes clear early on that she's mentally unstable, and at one point she tries to get everyone killed, including herself.
While the special effects are far from Oscar worthy, they are fun to look at. They utilize a mixture of CGI and practical effects to bring the bug monsters to life.
I only have two complaints to make about Infestation. For one thing, there are some character exposition scenes which go on a little longer than they should, and they get boring after a while. Also, the ending reminded me of the ending to The Sopranos. That's all I'm going to say.
Overall, I had a good time watching Infestation, and I'd recommend it to any fans of B-grade monster movies. 8/10

I remember watching Infestation. It was a pretty good flick. Giant bugs invade the earth. It is the kind of schlocky movie I love.

Totally agree. There aren't that many B movies that hit the mark for me, so it was a pleasant surprise.

I would probably give it a 3 or 3.5 out of 5, but still a solid B movie.
