Hi, this is my second post.
I'm from Philly, and my principal interests are good movies, Macs, cooking, and anything having to do with the Spanish language. I support myself principally as a translator and web site localizer, and do the occasional odd job in Mac consultation and support.
Since that first bit, "good movies," is up to some interpretation, I'm always in the mood for good reviews and politely contrasting opinions about their relative merits. That, and the fact that I hate to waste time and money on "bad ones."
Personal favorites? Almodóvar, all the way from "Luci, Pepi, and Bom," all the way to present day, and anything that makes me think a bit. I particularly liked "Smilla's Sense of Snow," although I have since forgotten its details.
Nice chatting, and now back to work.

politely contrasting opinions about their relative merits...
Sometimes that's the part that's forgotten on forums. Take away a face to face and folks lose all sense of decorum. We have our occasional rude interlopers but for the most part are quite capable of civility.
Welcome, post often, looking forward to your views.

Recepción a nuestro hogar, estamos contentos que usted ha venido.
..and that is remedial spanish, a hold over from my high school days but nonetheless the best I can do.
I share your love for cooking but not for Macs. I'm quite certain the Mac is a superior product but I have a natural propensity to guard my financial reserves and I've always found the initial outlay for the Mac to be a bit opulent for my tastes.
See you around...
Hello Furious. It's nice to meet another Mac and cooking lover. What other info can we squeeze out of you? Your age? Any Kids? Blood Type? :D

I enjoyed your posts, and have but one thought on the Mac thing:
Google search (http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&lr=&ie=ISO-8859-1&safe=off&q=apple+%2B+mac+%2B+%22cost+of+ownership%22&btnG=Google+Search)
It's best to have an informed opinion. While Apple computers do cost a bit, they tend not to be replaced as often as PCs. Upgrades are easier, and Apple computers have traditionally weathered OS changes much better than Wintel PCs.
That said, I do hope that I didn't come off as a platform bigot. People tend to make the most and best use out of that with which they feel comfortable.
Macs ARE more expensive. I've used both a fair amount, and I can honestly say that each has its ups and downs. The introduction of Windows XP/2000, however, has given PCs a clear lead, IMO. Macs are great, sure...but they're proprietary and I don't find the added costs to be adequately justified.
I'd love to make the "switch", but much like Chrissly, I'm prevented by the massive cost of buying an entirely new computer.
Although, if you know any CEO's over at Mac, tell them to E-mail me:
"My name is Hero, and I use to be a PC user"
