100.Poltergeist - Tobe Hooper (1982)

The secondary horror in my opinion. Still great!

Great start! This was just picked at #77 on my list! Horrifying film to say the least, but also very nice to look at if you pay attention to details, especially for the '80s, what little I do know about that era. I just remember always being fascinated with how Hooper used his surroundings.

Okay, I can see why some people might not love those two, but I sure do :D Though there's hardly anyone who can argue that The Third Man is less than perfect.

Great finish to your list Camo. Those top three are all seriously amazing movies. I like Unforgiven and The Exorcist as well.

Sweet sixteen is great but chances are you'll need subtitles lol because it's full of very strong Glasgow accents and slang words
I watch all films with en subs. ;)

Your favorite movie is my favorite movie. You have excellent taste my friend! An excellent list.
I noticed that a lot of people place Taxi Driver high on their lists but I'm wondering why exactly do you prefer it above all?I realize that it is visually stunning and the story is great but is there some other reason why you like so much?Or do you connect with it more than with other films? This is the question for all who place Taxi Driver very very high.

hough there's hardly anyone who can argue that The Third Man is less than perfect.
I didn't like it but it would be pointless to discuss since I haven't seen it in a while. ;)

Btw,great list Camo! ;) Glad to see Godfather so high,it's a masterpiece.Maybe I'll rate them later.

That top 10 is awesome, I like all the films. Taxi Driver, North by Northwest, Unforgiven, The Godfather, There Will Be Blood, A Clockwork Orange, The Third Man and Once Upon a Time in the West I think are all brilliant films, very similar taste to me, you'll like what I've got left in my own thread I think :)

I connect with it more. I am touching up my soon to come Top 50 favorite films list, in which I go into detail why I like it so much.

Though there's hardly anyone who can argue that The Third Man is less than perfect.

It is the perfect contender for the most overrated movie of all time, if you ask me. I think the more I hear people praise this movie, the more I hate it.

This is a short review I found on another movie website, that I strongly agree with:
This is neither a compelling story, nor atmospherically great, nor evoking emotion of ANY kind. I don't understand why it's considered to be a well made film either, not even objectively. Everything about it is mediocre at best and the hilariously out-of-place music, silly diagonal shots and exaggerated play with light and shadow make it almost seem comical.

Absolutely god damn right.

I like your list, Camo, but I don't like the fact that you've included a film like The Third Man in a top 10 with masterpieces like Taxi Driver and There Will Be Blood.

Well, it is a quite solid list, most of the choices are canon but the ordering looks somehow strange, which I guess gives a lot of personality to the list. Props for including the South Park movie, you won me with that. I do have some main disagreements though. The exorcist is one of those I probably watched too late and didn't find its appeal, nor its effectiveness; and I guess I belong to the other side of the Lost in translation audience.

Tough.

I'll say. I like the soundtrack and the diagonal shots are pretty damn cool, certainly not silly. Not atmospherically great?? It's one of the most atmospheric films I know of.
