It's not that we don't consider it one; it's that we want to give the other movies a chance. :)

The Prowler (1981)
Psycho (1960)

If you don't consider Psycho a slasher:

Suspiria (1977)

I'm not going to leave it up to myself to decide what qualifies a slasher film or not. I realize that in doing these genre specific tournaments that different people are going to have different opinions about what fits within the genre. I would hope rather that people would use how well a movie fits the genre as one of the criteria for voting for it.

I consider Psycho the father of the genre, but I went ahead and changed it to Suspiria.

Alice Sweet Alice aka Communion (1976)
Candyman (1992)

There should also be a Bava film in this tournament somewhere.

Sorry guys, Sexy got the last four and that took us to 32. Mingusings, I'm taking my last two noms out and putting yours in so you can have two. I didn't like my noms much anyway.

I'll have the pairings up soon.

A shame because Slumber Party Massacre -- I forgot about that one. It's really good. But whatever, it wouldn't win the contest.

It's in, Sexy. I gave two of my noms to Ming so that he/she would at least have two.

I can understand that godoggo. I think I'd have voted for HBtM against almost any of the other picks. I still might, but Peeping Tom has a special place in my heart in the world of slashers.

There's a few I've yet to see and a few that I'd like to see again before voting, so I may go right upto the deadline before I vote.

1. Deep Red vs. Halloween (1978) - Didn't care for Deep Red

2. Nightmare on Elm St. (1984) vs. Scream 4 - Scream 4 is average, NoES is pretty good.

3. Suspiria vs. Slumber Party Massacre - not seen SPM. Should probably see it, so I can most likely vote for Suspiria, which is one of my favorite horror films of all-time.

4. Hatchet for Honeymoon vs. Dressed to Kill - not seen DtK. I could see it topping Hatchet

5. Torso vs. Black Christmas (1974) - Easy choice, but I like both of them. Black Christmas is a little overrated though.

6. Peeping Tom vs. The Prowler - poop! Tough draw for me on this one, as I wanted The Prowler to do well. Hopefully it will at least gather some new viewers.

7. Tenebre vs. Scream - Toughest choice right here.

8. Friday the 13th (1980) vs. Blood and Black Lace - Not a fan of Blood and Black Lace.

Peeping Tom is better in just about every aspect I can think of, but it's only because Peeping Tom is a masterpiece. The only thing I'd vote over it in this tournament is Suspiria.

Time for next round. Voting will end the 21st. At that time I'm going to start a LGBT film tournament, so be thinking about what you want to nominate.

Mark, don't forget that you have a double vote whenever you want to use it. You can save it for another tournie if you wish.

1. Suspiria vs. Friday the 13th (1980)

2. Dressed to Kill vs. Black Christmas (1974)

3. Halloween (1978) vs. Scream

4. Peeping Tom vs. Nightmare on Elm St. (1984)

I'm going to have to watch Peeping Tom again before I vote. It was really good, but I'm undecided who I'm going to vote for.

Some good choices near the end here. I'll have to see Black Christmas, it looks like my Dressed to Kill could use some help.

I had to vote for Freddy. I couldn't not do it.

I doubt it will happen, but it would be fun to have Freddy vs. Jason in the final two.

I forgot to announce the winner. Anyways....

Congrats to Scream!!!

The movie that spawned Ghostface has won the tournament!!!!

No, not that one:
http://imageshack.us/a/img27/2315/imageebt.jpg
This is the one.

But it was really these two:

http://imageshack.us/a/img12/2366/imagetjfy.jpg

A low rent Johnny Depp look a like and Scooby Doo's future partner, which makes it not so scary.

Anyway, congrats also to Rodent. It was your nomination that won. You also now have the ability to have any one vote count for two in any upcoming tourney ran by yours truly.
