I have yet to truly embark on my cinematic journey. This list is more for me than you guys, but maybe it will give you a juvenile look into my tastes. It takes a lot of confidence for me to show this list, because.....well.....it is crap, so to speak. But it is MY crap, and I would like to one day look back at this list and be able to see the progression and growth in my movie watching adventure. Enjoy the ride, no matter how crappy it is, because it can only get better from the bottom. Thank you all, my friends. I am tremendously honored to share these forums with such kind people and hope you don't hurt my feelings too bad!

The Faculty

Directed by Robert Rodriguez

Varsity Blues meets The Thing. The tension in this film is incredible. As you see the emotion drained from a small town in Ohio, you realize our friends are in over their heads. No species is safe, from mice to men. Who is a parasite and who isn't? Great soundtrack, likeable characters, a super stength Jon Stewart......and aliens. In my opinion, the special effects in this film were ahead of their time. The best scene in my opinion is when the queen, who I will not give up to people who have not seen this, is walking in the locker room with her naked human shell, but the shadows surrounding her are nothing but tentacles slashing through the air. I literally rewind it EVERY time I revisit this movie. Cheesy at times, slightly predictable, but fun, nonetheless. Robert Patrick steals the show every scene, and is completely creepy and terrifying. Comedy, action, twists, and Jon Stewart. Great film and a must grab for a dvd collection!

Like I said previously, I'm more impressed with people who have a more unique and individual taste in movies. I get tired of seeing the same old movies pop up in list after list, so I think this should be interesting.

I can't really say much about your first choice. I vaguely remember seeing it during its theatrical run but I don't really remember much about it. I'm not big on horror in general. I think I saw it because a friend wanted to see it.

Happy Gilmore

Directed by Dennis Dugan

"Suck my white ass, ball!" This movie is downright hilarious. Actually, it was the first time I had ever seen an Adam Sandler movie. From the first moments of this movie, I knew I was in for a treat. The Bob Barker fight is one of the funniest things I have ever seen. This used to be my all time favorite comedy, but I had to change that within the past few years, of course. Christopher McDonald as the man everyone loves to hate was such a blast to watch. I have seen this movie countless numbers of times and each viewing gets funnier. I LOVED when he was standing in front of the guy about to tee off and didn't realize he was in the wrong. Pure gold. This is Sandler at his best. I have come to really despise his efforts as of late, although I do watch every single one of them, just in hopes that he returns to form. Either way, there was no way this was not sneaking in. Great flick to watch with friends.

The Host

Directed by Joon-ho Bong

I am a sucker for a good creature flick. This movie shows a lot of emotion as well. The lengths this man will go to to save his daughter are breathtaking to me. This creature is massive! Great special effects, awesome cast, and intense atmosphere. This is defintely one of my favorite creature flicks. Also, it is beautifully shot and there are images of the creature chasing our protagonist in slow motion that have never quite left my mind. I really need to see this again. It has been on my must buy dvd list for a couple years now. If you have not had a chance to check this out, please do. You may not love it, but it is definitely worth a try.

Planes, Trains, and Automobiles

Directed by John Hughes

First and foremost, rest in peace John Candy. There truly is not much special about this movie besides the coincidental humour and the back and forth banter between Candy and Martin. This film, however, has a special place in my heart. I know how it feels to be alone on the holidays. Del Griffith never flat out told Neal that his wife had passed years ago. When you see the light finally hit Page, although you have expected it all along, it still stings my heart. Now, don't get me wrong. This movie is frickin' HILARIOUS. I love when the cop pulls them over. Comedy gold. Defintely a classic and a Thangsgiving must for my family!

The House of the Devil

Directed by Ti West

This movie scared the crap out of me. I love the overall pace of this film and there is sort of a lack of emotion from the protagonist. I actually liked that. It felt like she was in an early life crisis and depressed, desperate for any situation to put her in motion. I was told to watch this by a friend, and usually I hate scary films, but somehow the poster intrigued me. I love the films style. If someone told me this was filmed in 2009, I would have laughed in their face. The scene that really had my heart thumping was when her best friend is murdered. That was one of the most out of left field scenes I have ever witnessed and went from an escalating sense of a storm coming to an all around mad house. It starts slow. QUITE slow. But if you get past the cliche desperate college girl trying to make ends meat story, this movie may just surprise you.

Grease

Directed by Randal Kleiser

This movie has had a soft spot in my heart since childhood. When you grow up with a little sister who is as bratty and snotty as mine was, you are going to watch what she wants to or nothing at all! After endless days of this, I finally came to enjoy our daily dose of Olivia and John. Cheesy acting, cool, snappy dialogue, fun sets, and contagious sing-alongs, this has become a family classic for us over the years. Plus.....let's face it. This movie is downright cool. I may catch a bad rep for this one, but it is a guilty pleasure. By no means an amazing film, it definitely holds a spot on my personal list.

Trollhunter

Directed by André Øvredal

This movie blew me away, and still does every time I watch it. The special effects are incredible, the cover up attempt is believable, and the main hunter is very likeable. The reporters are annoying at times, although some would say persistent. This film is said to be in production for an American remake, which I must say I am quite excited about. These trolls are TERRIFYING. I am easy to scare, skiddish some would say. But when I watch with friends, they are also quite intrigued by the lead up and eventual exposure and usually go tell others to check it out. One of my favorite found footage films of all time, and an original take on a childhood creature. Watch it if you haven't.

Ratatouille

Directed by Brad Bird

This movie is an amazing story of love, friendship, and the ability for anyone to change. I do not want to force a "review" of this movie, as I seemingly have a couple of my picks. I am not a critic, I just enjoy movies! That being said, this film touched my heart. Remy, who is perfectly voiced by Patton, resembles my childhood a tad, an outsider from his own family, so to speak, and finds it difficult to follow his dreams at first. The moment I knew this was going to be one of my favorite Pixar films, if not films in general, is early in the film, when he is trying to explain the senses to his brother, who is eating trash and loving it. The others did not understand Remy, and I was tough to understand at times, also, as a child, seemingly speaking to brick walls. Sorry for the rant! Either way, if you have not seen this, let me know so I can personally come to your location with a copy!

Well......maybe not ;)

Perfect movie for family and a very fun adventure.

Who Framed Roger Rabbit

Directed by Robert Zemeckis

The epitome of cartoon/live action hybrids in my opinion. Loveable characters, a sexy Jessica Rabbit, and Bob Hoskins! Christopher Lloyd's character was one of the more disturbed villains of my youth in this film. He despised 'toons so much and you felt that. The story was easy enough to keep up with, fine pace, and, having watched this just last week, it ages really well in my opinion. A true classic, one I will never lose love for, and has been known to stay in front of my dvd must watch stacks for years now! If I ever get bored, this is one of the ones I will pop in first.

Oh yeah......I LOVE THE CAR!

Big thumbs up for both of these choices.

Ratatouille is my favorite animated film. Such a fun story and the rats are adorable. Who Framed Roger Rabbit was a favorite of mine as a child, and now when I watch it as an adult I still love it but in a much different way (much of the movies humor went way over my head when I was little). Nosferatu

Directed by F.W. Murnau

Home of some of the most chilling imagery that I have witnessed in cinematic history, this was the first horror movie my parents let me watch as a child. Before the countless Dracula films, before Lost Boys, before Salem's Lot, there was Max Schreck helping me lose sleep at night. This film has one of the more immersing compositions of the few silent films I have seen. Simple enough plot, was easy for me to keep up with even as a child. It is hard to believe such beauty lies within this darkness. I am no longer terrified of this film, but I am man enough to admit that I lost some sleep in my early years due to this film. Watching it recently has only strengthened my love for the performance of Schreck, a true legend in his time, from what I hear. A symphony of terror is correct. Not really scary anymore, but haunting imagery and one man's flawless portrayal is a sure way to crack my list!

Project X

Directed by Nima Nourizadeh

This is one of the craziest films I have ever seen. in my late teens to early twentys, I actually had a party house of my own, so this was just destined to be one of my favorite movies ever, but nowhere in my wildest dreams would I think of the night that these three seemingly average high school students had. This could have quite possibly been the most fun I had in a theater......ever. The entire theater was standing and cheering by the end of the movie, including me, and then we went to a party! Those days are long gone.......for now! This is nowhere near a cinematic achievement, but.....HOLY CRAP IS IT A BLAST! Definitely a must have for a dvd collection.

Zack and Miri

Directed by Kevin Smith

Kevin Smith will probably make quite a few appearances on this list, so if not a fan, may as well just stop here at #89! I think this is one of his funniest movies, and I love all the Star Whores scenes! Revenge of the S**t, the all anal finale! Hilarious! To be honest, I am not a fan of Seth Rogen, but this is definitely one of his more watchable flicks. Great cameos by Brandon Routh, Ben Affleck, and JUSTIN LONG AS A GAY PORN STAR! Best one ever, though, was the guy from Dale and Tucker vs Evil, Tyler Labine. This is a shoe-in when it comes to MY list. Taking the normal......and making it ABNORMAL.....BY F**KING IT!!!!! I can quote this movie all day.

The Lost World: Jurassic Park

Directed by Steven Spielberg

This is actually more impressive to me than Jurassic Park in many ways, such as visuals and the fact I GET TO SEE A T-REX IN TOWN! I am a Vince Vaughn fan, so it was also cool to see him in it as well. It is by no means better than the first in my opinion, which (spoiler) will show up later, but I do have a soft spot in my heart for this film, and, usually when I watch these movies, I start with this one, then the first one, and all around forget the third one was made! Fun flick, Vince Vaughn, T-Rex in the city, and an all around good popcorn flick. Instant addition to my list.

The Crow

Directed by Alex Proyas

One of my favorite revenge films. Brandon Lee (R.I.P.) really disappears into his role. I honestly do not care for the sequels, although City of Angels is watchable. I actually never knew this was based on a comic until recently, which has piqued my interest in finding the comic to check out just how accurate this is. Great movie, surprisingly great acting, not only from Lee, but also Michael Wincott as Top Dollar, a menacing being bent on total destruction. Classic film, sad at times, especially the flashback scenes with wife, and some haunting imagery, such as Eric's first time back to his apartment, still yellow tape wrapped and destroyed. This movie makes me feel for the main character, which is tough for me at times, especially in revenge films. I adore this amazing movie.

Beasts of the Southern Wild

Directed by Behn Zeitlin

This movie actually took me a couple of times watching it to truly love it. I really liked it upon first viewing, so much that I watched it with a couple of friends the next night, and really realized how powerful this movie was to me. The strength of this child, Hushpuppy, in times harder than I can imagine, on the verge of losing her father, he home, and her whole village of friends and family, and her breathtaking ability to move forward with unfathomable strength. I look forward to seeing Wallace's growth in the future, as I am sure this performance will not be overlooked. Also, Dwight Henry was great. You have to respect a father like him. Tough love had to add to her courage and heart. What a beautiful movie. This may not be for everyone, but it was definitely for me, and although she did not get the Oscar due to an amazing list of female performers, I, as I stated before, am looking forward to her bright future. Check this movie out, one of my favorites of 2012.......and ever.

National Lampoon's Senior Trip

Directed by Kelly Makin

This is truly a guilty pleasure of mine, and possibly my favorite of the National Lampoon's "franchise". I truly think Animal House is the best, but this is my personal favorite. By no means an achievement in cinema, I THINK IT IS SO STUPID IT IS FUNNY! That is actually one of my favorite genres(what is that technically? Such as Scary Movie? No clue.....oh well). I love the pranks, dig ALL of the characters, especially Principal Moss, and if you look closely, you can spot and uncredited D.J. Qualls, which I was curious to see after seeing his name on the IMDb, so of course I popped it in, and sure enough, Miosky snatches a soda from him! This was my favorite comedy for the longest time, stayed in my DVD player, and, although I haven't seen it in a couple of years, it will always have a place on my list as one of the funniest films I have ever seen.

Oh, and the Star Trek nerd crossing guard is one of my favorite characters ever!

Saw

Directed by James Wan

This does NOT represent the franchise, just the 2004 original. I despise the sequels, finding only Saw 2 to be remotely watchable, but this thriller took my breath away upon initial viewing. I have seen the whole story, could never truly admire all of the others, and, although I do understand the love for the franchise, I just cannot get behind it. The ending to this first film flipped me upside down on my behind, and, as I am sure many more focused viewers saw it coming, I did not at all. Great suspense, superb introduction to the story, and a menacing Tobin Bell. What charm and charisma of this character. He appreciates life to the point that he cannot stand to see it wasted, and for that it gives a kind of deeper meaning to the character, and I just didn't know whether to hate him or love him, to be honest. Great performances, iconic imagery, and an ending that still blows me away to this day lands this film at #83 on my list. If you have not seen these films, give this one a chance, it truly is brilliant. You may even appreciate the other ones, but they always pale in comparison in my eyes.

The French Connection

Directed by William Friedkin

Gene Hackman is the man. This movie has one of the finest chase scenes I have witnessed in any film I have seen to this day, and an easy enough to keep up with story. I love a good crime thriller and this one is top notch. Granted, I have not seen Hackman in much else, which I really need to change, this is one fine role he plays, no matter how cliche it seems. Great action, fun thrill ride after the initial setup, and a well filmed chase scene makes for a good time every time, and I found this DVD for $1.99 the other day and could not pass it up, went home and threw it into the DVD player, and it didn't even work! I was so sad! I will find it again. I knew it was too good to be true! Either way, check this one out if you have not. It is a classic that has aged well, so to speak.

I am actually not a horror fan either, but the ending is what really makes this for me, and it has some well placed tension. Also, it kept me interested, which many horrors do not for me.....it is just a waiting game......who will die next.....why is there a ghost in this house......better question......why are they still LIVING there?!?! But, all kidding aside, I truly look at this as a classic, although the others are shite....eh.....Saw 2 is ok, but I could see the direction the franchise was heading, and it just did not have the same feel as the first one did for me. I did not get the hype for the others, but this was an original concept which lived up to it for me.

The Giant Mechanical Man

Directed by Lee Kirk

There is truly a sense of being lost in life in this film for me. I only checked this out recently, because I am a big fan of Jenna Fischer, and I am so glad that I did. Seemingly the cliche love story, I felt a deep connection to this film, as I also walk around not knowing where I am headed in my life, no direction, just waiting for the days to wither away, such as her character portrays. Topher Grace turns in an exceptionally annoying performance that I loved and hated at the same time, because he clearly pulled off what he was aiming for in this role. I REALLY need to see more of Chris Messina's work, as I really enjoyed his character, although there was truly little progression of it. It was not highly rated or even recommended to me, and, as usual, the hardest part I had with this movie, as I often have trouble doing, is pressing play. Once I was into it, had a cold glass of water and a bag of popcorn next to me, I fell into this simple story and truly enjoyed myself. It is at least worth checking out, and, although I thought the ending was kind of subpar, I still enjoyed this more than my other entries so far, and am now finding it easier to press play on films I know nothing about, just for the chance I may find a gem like this one.

The Godfather
(Also representing The Godfather II)

Directed by Francis Ford Coppola

To not include these two movies as one would not work for me, because if I watch one, the other always follows. Widely viewed as the best organized crime film, it is not my favorite, but still brilliant. What a cast. It seems everyone in the film was born for their role, my favorite being De Niro, just seemed Brando did not get as much screen time for me to say he stole the show, but I truly did love De Niro as a portrayal of his youth. They knew how to tell a story then. You cared for the "hero" and hated the people you were supposed to, so to speak. Many great quotes from these movies, amazing actors, great pacing and well-placed tension make for a beautiful experience for me every time. Also, great writing and soundtrack.

Watchmen

Directed by Zack Snyder

Possibly one of my favorite movies of this millennium, it is hard to say there are 78 movies more enjoyable than this accurate comic book film, but, alas, there are to me. One does not just "watch" Watchmen, they are experiencing a graphic novel literally come to life. Of course, Rorschach is my favorite of the bunch, being excellently portrayed by Haley. I specifically love when he is in prison....."YOU ARE TRAPPED IN HERE WITH ME!!!" That was brilliant, and one of the more iconic scenes for me in the past few years of cinema. Visually, it is rarely matched. Snyder's style is all over this film, almost as if he is in the film, also! I honestly cannot think of a better director to take on this film. Great action, I prefer the movie ending to the novel, but only because of the way Snyder sequenced it, and ultimately one of the best comic book films made to date. You feel for the characters, you feel the betrayal. You want The Comedian to be avenged. Just an all-around great film experience, and a movie I will not be forgetting anytime soon.

This just happens to be one of my favorite Christopher Walken performances amongst many. Nowhere near an amazing film as far as quality and star power, but, growing up in a billiards heavy town, this is a classic and gets better every time I watch it. The plot is easy enough to keep up with, ending predictable, and very one dimensional characters, but I adore this little film. A very cool, cocky Walken only makes a solid film better in my opinion, especially his final confrontation with Joe, played excellently by Chazz Palminteri, and also his lion speech before the big set. Great film, check it out if you have not, you may be very impressed, as I was upon initial viewing.

As it is many times with me, the hardest thing to do with a movie is press play. Never has it been harder to press play after reading the seemingly boring synopsis of this film, and let us all thank heavens that I did press play. This is by far one of the most powerful movies I have ever seen, and the fact it is filmed in one setting 90% of the movie only adds to its greatness. This film truly points out some of the flaws of the judicial system at the time, and in a very gripping way. A boy can be sent to his death with the decision of these men. No one in this film, not even Henry Fonda, really got behind their character like Lee J. Cobb did. A real grasping performance from him took the rooms energy to another level, and really got me behind this film. Who doesn't like a nice dose of Samuel L. Jackson, mixed with a splash of De Niro, and a nice tall glass of Pam Grier? How about great support from the likes of Keaton and Tucker? No? How about one of the most likeable and easy to root for characters I have ever seen created in Max Cherry, portrayed magnificently by Robert Forster? What I am trying to get at is this is a fun film, easy to keep up with, exciting pace, great soundtrack, which is a Tarantino must, and an amazing cast! I truly do love Samuel L. Jackson in this film. So much charisma, and you can't help but admire his cunning and wit. De Niro does well until near the end, and then he steals the show. Pam Grier maintained her character throughout the whole film, and I love love LOVE the character of Max Cherry. He personifies a down to earth man who truly deserves everything he gets, and he is.....well.....just an easy character to love! Chris Tucker, although a small role, plays it quite well, and I would love to see him work with Tarantino again one day, because, after Silver Lining Playbook, I am sure he will be getting calls. Yes, that is 6 films at my #72, so, in a way, I am cheating it. But, I look at all these movies as one, as I was there opening night for each one of them, and, although different directors, and at some points, different actors, they do intertwine quite well as a marathon, which I have enjoyed twice since the release of The Avengers on DVD with friends and family. I believe these all to be slightly about average films, the first 5 about 7/10, except Iron Man, a solid 8.5/10, and The Avengers an 8.5/10. I had a blast at all of them, knew to leave my brain at the house, and left satisfied. Great action throughout, Robert Downing Jr. never disappoints, and the Hulk is amazing in the climax of "Phase 1". If I had to break it all down, I would rank them as such....

1.) The Avengers
2.) Iron Man
3.) Captain America
4.) Thor
5.) The Incredible Hulk
6.) Iron Man 2

I really wish they would have kept Terrence Howard in Iron Man, I enjoyed him. Cannot wait to see Iron Man 3. This should be an amazing summer for blockbusters! If you have not checked out these movies, they are really worth a glance, if not just for the mindless action and fun back and forth banter.

I can see why this great film is on a lot of lists around here, and it easily fits into my top 100, although not as high as others. Not in disagreement to them, I just have 70 movies on my list that I liked more. But, to not give this director's second film it's proper dues for a great story of friendship and true love, and it's brilliant color scheme and well-placed humor, would be ludicrous! Bill Murray, as I have said before, is a true delight for me to watch on-screen. He is funny, charming, and just seems quite down to earth. The chemistry of this seemingly unnatural friendship is really what carries this film, in my opinion, and just the heartbreak of knowing you have to go back to your real life after really experiencing something you have missed out on all along, it really sets in. Great film, brilliant camera work, and made me smile and laugh at all the right times. I also adored the way it ended, just seemed fitting. I am sure you have all seen this, but, if not, please do. You will not be disappointed.

300

Directed by Zack Snyder

Easily one of my favorite movies of all-time. Great theatrical experience, also. I believe I saw it a total of four times on the big screen, and it is easily one of the better 3D experiences. We all know the plot, but it is still an authentic, visual explosion of action, triumph, and tragedy. Butler's best role to this day, in my opinion, at least what I have seen, followed by possibly Law Abiding Citizen. Very stylish, great story-telling, and an epic soundtrack make this a no-brainer.

Hook

Directed by Steven Spielberg

I do not believe this movie is one of Spielberg's greater flicks, but it is definitely one of my favorites! With a cast of Robin Williams, Julia Roberts, and a menacing Dustin Hoffman as Hook, this is by far my favorite Peter Pan movie, and one of my favorite childhood movies. This and a couple others are actually Thanksgiving favorites of my family's, so I get the opportunity of being able to revisit this loveable story of family and friendship, and......RUFIO!!!!! Fun set pieces, Robin Williams is unforgettable, and the way Hook meets his demise is so fitting! Great family film, and an instant classic from the day I saw it to now.

Cool Hand Luke

Directed by Stuart Rosenberg

Probably my favorite Newman performance, Cool Hand Luke is a portrayal of a gritty, seemingly careless soul who ends up on a Southern chain gang who finds the need to try his luck with escape attempts, which are never successful, and ends up going through quite a journey.

Some of my favorite parts of this movie are the touching interactions with his sick mother. There are some other great scenes, such as the fight, the egg eating, and just.....well, pretty much any moment he is on screen. Such a great film, a true classic, a cool character with a carefree attitude that truly resonates through the film, and a decent supporting cast. I honestly need to revisit this, because it has probably been a good year since I have seen it, but I love this movie. Check it out if you have not.

Independence Day

Directed by Roland Emmerich

I love my alien movies. I truly do. This is one of the top ones of my childhood, and, although by no means a masterpiece, this movie has some truly iconic scenes.

Will Smith is actually a quite brilliant actor in my eyes, and I have only seen a couple movies of his I just couldn't get into, like Hancock and Hitch, which were still watchable, just not amazing. This movie and his performance amazed me, no matter how one dimensional his character was.....he was a bad ass!!!! Great visuals, as I can say Emmerich always makes sure he packs in a good show visually, if nothing else. Loved Jeff Goldblum, just like almost anything he is in, and Bill Pullman throws in an acceptable go at the president, but the true stars are the aliens. I loved their design, and, in my opinion, this movie could have came out 3 years ago and still impressed me. Truly a spectacular popcorn flick, one of my favorites of all time, and a must see!

Wedding Crashers

Directed by David Dobkin

This comedy needs no introduction. For truly hilarious back and forth antics, great one-liners, memorable scenes, Christopher Walken, and a brilliant meatloaf loving cameo from the hilarious Will Ferrell, look no further than one of my favorite movies of the past decade, Wedding Crashers.

Vince Vaughn and Owen Wilson belong on screen together. Always. Granted, they have both had succesful careers, but neither of them will ever top this comedy, if you ask me. If they do, I will be waiting with my money in my hand (looking at you, Internship.....). There are way too many scenes to talk about why I love this movie, from backyard football with Cooper, to "Can I paint you?", to funeral crashing. This is just a relaxing great time every time I pop this in, from the Shout sequence to the Vaughn to Cooper BLAST, just an amazing film. Great comedy. If you have not seen this, do it.

Why Will Ferrell?.

Because he's unfunny to the point of being painful to watch. I will only tolerate him in a movie if there's some other reason for me to watch. In the case of both Wedding Crashers and Old School, that reason is Vince Vaughn (who can be very good, but lately has made some really terrible movies).

Will Ferrell might be my favorite comedic actor. I usually don't like Owen Wilson, but he is pretty good in some roles. Stephen King's IT

Directed by Tommy Lee Wallace

This was the scariest movie of my childhood. Period. Nothing even came close besides MAYBE The Thing. I love Tim Curry, but every time I see him now in anthing, I damn near pis my pants just thinking of Pennywise. Nowhere near as menacing and visual as the book, there are still scenes from this that haunt me, and I NEVER look down a kitchen sinkhole anymore. I really dig the two different stories and the chemistry between everyone in this film. I revisited this not long ago, and, although not as terrifying, I still had trouble sleeping that night. Pennywise will be haunting dreams for years, and, from what I hear, there is a rated R reboot in production. Let's just hope Platinum Dunes doesn't get ahold of it.

The Untouchables

Directed by Brian De Palma

Great film. That's really all there is to it. Great action, tension and well placed humor, you feel for the characters that meet tragic ends, and you generally want the good guys to win. Costner and De Niro kill their performances, especially De Niro. What a great depiction of the charming yet menacing Al Capone. I don't think anyone could have been casted better for the spot, in my opinion. A good story, easy to keep up with, great dialogue, due to a humorous yet stern role from Connery, and it is just always good to see that it only takes a few good men to make a difference in corrupt times such as the period they were depicting. Great film, nice to look at, and brilliant performances all around. Check it out!

Carrie

Directed by Brian De Palma

I follow my last pick with yet another great De Palma classic, the story of a bullied and social outcast tortured to the point of destruction, assisted by her telekinetic abilities and built up hatred. This movie was visual. It was not as frightening and insightful to the story as the book, but a decently accurate portrayal of the Stephen King novel by the same name. Carrie and her mother were both perfectly cast, and, I tell you, Mortez has some big shoes to fill when it comes to Spacek's performance, but I am still excited to see the "remake/reboot/reimagining/re".....whatever. Great tension, awesome visual mayhem, eerie soundtrack, and one crazy b**ch make for an instant spot on my list.

The sequels.........they don't make it on the list, however.

Toy Story
(Also Representing Toy Story 2 & Toy Story 3)

Directed by John Lasseter

This goes without saying, but definitely some of the most fun I have had with an animated film, if not film in general. Great voice acting throughout whole trilogy, memorable scenes, a twist I did not see coming in the last one, and just a classic in all sense of the word. My son will grow up on these movies, and, more than likely, his son. The fact that the first one is so beautiful and visually impressive, yet is almost 20 years old, makes this an even better achievement in cinema in my opinion, and the characters are so easy to love, especially Woody and Buzz. Household must-have for years to come, and I could not have a list without these guys hopping aboard for the ride.

Dale and Tucker Vs Evil

Directed by Eli Craig

I see this goin down as a horror comedy cult classic up there with Shaun of the Dead and many Bruce Campbell films, at least for me. This is what the genre is all about. Gore, laughs, idiocy at times, and......more gore! I love the simple story, no real progression to the plot, but I am just fine with that.....this is not an adventure, it is two guys who have no earthly idea what is going wrong outside the walls of their "palace"! Great one-liners, very memorable scenes, plenty of no-names to kill off in a stylish fashion, and two awesomely casted dimwits for the lead! I cannot recommend this movie highly enough. I was worried about it at first, but after weeks of constant recommendations, I finally clicked play on Netflix and gave it a shot! So glad that I did! Sure, it may not be for everyone, but it is certainly worth checking out once!

Everyone is entitled to a couple of guilty pleasures, right? I love this movie. I openly praise '90s Sandler, and always will, no matter how many stones are thrown in my direction. These are fun movies, and this is one I could probably quote all of with little to no problem! To be completely honest, for about 4-5 years this WAS my favorite movie in middle school on to high school, before I got serious with modern movies, and, now that I am delving into the classics, there is no chance I can give this a higher spot, but, with that being said, it DOES deserve a spot on my list, because......well, it's my list! Ig you are not a fan of Batman, my list may not be for you ;) This is what started it all for me, and really got the ball rolling when it came to the Caped Crusader. I love the right amount of cheese in this, and Keaton happens to be my favorite Bruce Wayne, great charm with the character, and not bad as Batman, either. Nicholson steals the show with his charismatic performance as the Joker, with many memorable scenes. Love his laugh! I actually watched this again just recently, and it holds up against the times decently well, especially our two main actors. The action was pretty lame at times, but you can only go so far with caricature extras with fake guns and a guy in a giant cape! That being said, I do love this movie still. It has it's flaws, but what doesn't? Fantastic fun for it's time and even ours!

The King's Speech

Directed by Tom Hooper

This was by far my favorite movie of the year 2010. Great performances, amazing atmosphere, and a very deserving Best Picture award, in my opinion. Everyone disappeared in their roles, and I truly felt pain and anguish from his ongoing struggle with the stammer. Firth has always been a favorite of mine, and Rush impressed me from other roles, so I went in not truly knowing what to expect, because I try my best to steer clear of trailers, and I was not aware of the historical events too accurately, but I heard brilliant reviews and traveled 45 minutes away to check this out on the big screen, and was so glad that I did. This movie brought me to tears almost at times, some from joy and some from pain. Memorable scenes, one after another, a brilliant score, and a well-paced story with spots of brilliant humor, this movie was truly an experience for me, which says a lot, because I am not too big on period pieces. This one was for sure hopping onto my list.

The Fighter

Directed by David O. Russell

I am not the biggest fan of Whalberg, but I think the role was made for him. This film was critically acclaimed and well deservedly. Great story, tremendous acting, especially Adams and Bale, who both deserved the attention they got in award season. I usually do not like boxing movies, never could get into Rocky or Million Dollar Baby, but this is so much more than boxing. This is family struggle and a need to thrive away from the nest. One brother's past and anothers future. It is a gripping story, although at times predictable, you tend to get over that when witnessing the amazing performances all around you. Great movie, Bale truly took it to another level and stole every scene, and Whalberg is actually watchable to me, and far beyond that...he impressed me. Also, a great looking film, and brilliant direction. Check it out if you have not.

District 9

Directed by Neill Blomkamp

One of my favorite sci-fi films of all-time. Great characters, amazing effects even on such a low budget, and an incredible directorial debut (besides a couple shorts) from Blomkamp, which I cannot wait to see more of (looking at you, Elysium!!). I also got my first look at someone I think has a bright future as an actor, Sharlto Copley. I felt for his character in this film, and also loved him in The A Team. The story is simple and to the point, something I find rare in sci-fi sometimes, which is why I cannot get into the genre as easily as most. Too much unneeded information can clutter my thoughts, taking me out of the film. This was a fresh take on the genre, and a nice concept, something not came by often in Hollywood. Fantastic movie, and one of my favorites.

30 million dollars ain't a low budget. It's an above average budget. Films with over 100 million dollars budget are rate as less than 50 movies of > 100 mi budget are made per year in the world (I believe, all by Hollywood).

For comparison, James Cameron Alien's was made on a 36 million dollars budget on today's money. Pulp Fiction was made on a 13 million dollars budget on today's money. And The Lives of Others were made on a 2 million dollars budget, that's true low budget.

I like Tom Hardy. He seems very flexible in his roles, and I have truly never seen a bad performance from him. Not all are mindblowing, but none of them made me regret seeing the film. This character driven piece of gold is one of my favorite of his, and a beautifully choreographed film counting down a great finale and really delving into the mind of this lunatic. If you have not seen this yet, I highly recommend it, it knocked me off my feet. Platoon

Directed by Oliver Stone

What a classic. Amazing tension, it has everything you want in a war movie, great action, but it also sets itself apart from the norm. This movie is beautiful, amazing performances, especially Dafoe and Sheen. The progression of the plot is relentless and perfect. I was never bored with this movie. I have only seen it once about 2 years ago, so I need to check it out again to see if the power of this film, but initially, it has it's place on my list. Plus, I knew I needed a great movie after the nugget I just dropped out at the last spot!

Starship Troopers

Directed by Paul Verhoeven

What an epic movie. So much fun, vicious, ferocious fun. Great effects, just the right amount of cheese, and giant bugs ripping people apart! I dig the simplicity of this story, as I usually do with these type of movies. I just want to have a good time with a film like this, and I do each and every time. An instant sci-fi classic upon first viewing, and still holds up to this day.....even exceeds some of the latest attempts at the genre, and with a lot less unnecessary twist attempts, just good old-fashioned massive bugs doing their thing!

Red State

Directed by Kevin Smith

This movie scared the s**t out of me. It is a real issue and, although played out in this film a tad fantastical, it is a true American horror film in my opinion. You do not need a giant machete or razor sharp fingers to scare the living crap out of me, although that does help. I honestly think Michael Parks puts in one of the most amazing performance of 2011, and I look forward to anything this man is attached to. He is a brilliant actor, along with John Goodman, who turns in a fine, if not at times shallow, role. The way this movie plays out not only amazed me, but it only seems fitting, although I could think of other ways to bring justice off the top of my head. Kevin Smith is a truly talented director in my honest opinion, and, like I said, he will be making quite a few appearances on my list.

Blade Runner

Directed by Ridley Scott

A timeless classic, with visuals so far ahead of it's time that it still amazes me to this day. Harrison Ford is brilliant, Rutger Hauer is awesome, and the story is amazing! Easily one of the best films ever made. Did not need a bunch of insane creatures or robots to keep you interested, just a beautiful setting and a fast paced delivery. A timeless classic that will be remembered for quite some time, if not forever, and deservedly grabs a spot on my list.

Finding Nemo

Directed by Andrew Stanton

A family film for everyone, Finding Nemo touched my heart upon first viewing and to this day continues to impress me with it's flair for adventur and friendship, but also a touch of heartache and loss in the early-going of the film. You truly want them to find each other in the incomparable ocean depths, abd you feel as if all is lost at times, but with the help of friends met along the way, a happy ending is just around the corner! Who doesn't need a feel good movie like this in their list? Great music, great voice acting, AWESOME visuals, and just an all around good time, and cannot wait to see the sequel!

Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl

Directed by Gore Verbinski

An introduction to one of the greatest, most charismatic characters ever put on the screen, I adored this movie a lot more than the others. Simple story, Captain Jack Sparrow in all of his glory, and even Knightley and Bloom were watchable. Rush as Barbossa stole the show in every scene he was in, though, even with Sparrow. Great movie, more than just visually entertaining, and a very fun theatrical experience also!

Yeah, I was less than pleased the first time I watched it. Couldn't even get through all of it the second time.

The Shining

Directed by Stanley Kubrick

Definitely one of the greatest horror films ever made, and one of the more sadistic characters in the form of Jack Torrence. The hotel is drenched in terrifying atmosphere and foreboding, and the pace is just right. Excellent acting and many memorable scenes. Amongst my favorite was the bleeding walls and the sisters. I do not want to write a book about this movie, so I will just tell you I love this movie for it's madness and brilliant direction, and of course Nicholson.

Wall-E

Directed by Andrew Stanton

The brilliance of the silent first half of this movie really sets the tome for the second act, and the depiction of the future of our inhabitants is fantastic, although there is a clear problem with Americans and obesity these days, but that is not what Wall-E is about. It is about friendship, loyalty, and a willingness to love what you cannot understand, just for the purity and goodness of it...at least that's what I gathered from it. A brilliant piece of writing, a heartbreaking tearjerker of an ending, and a lovable robot love story that will live on throughout history as one of the best animated films to ever grace the screen, at least in my eyes.

Goodfellas

Directed by Martin Scorsese

Clearly one of the best films ever made, it is still a wonder it made my list, because I am actually not a fan of the genre, which makes it all the more spectacular it is on here. Brilliant acting, direction, and Joe Pesci is a damn legend. I honestly cannot think of a better movie from the genre, and only a handful of movies from the '90s that even come close to stacking up to this. De Niro is amazing as usual, but as stated before, Pesci steals the show, even up to his inevitable demise. Never been a Liotta fan, but he was top notch also. Great sub-plots, I was always interested in the next scene, which is tough for me in these type of movies, and no list is complete without it, although most people put it much higher.

Pay It Forward

Directed by Mimi Leder

What do you possibly follow Goodfellas with, you ask? Pay It Forward, one of my favorite movies of all-time, and, until recently seeing Seven, my favorite Kevin Spacey performance. I adore this film, even with the abysmal Helen Hunt (cannot explain why, I just never liked her at all). A wonderful performance from the then much younger Osment and the ever so brilliant Spacey, and even with one of the more tragic endings to date, you have to love a feel good film like this. I still tear up in this movie, because of the simplicity of the action and the movement that he started, and how beautiful it is to know the actions of one human can truly change the world.

Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back

Directed by Kevin Smith

This is one of my favorite comedies ever made, especially since it brings together so much of the Smith universe and an epic amount of cameos and crude humor. The story, of course is idiotic, and I wouldn't have it any other way. So glad to see that these guys got their own feature film, and to this day I still watch it religiously. It just seemed like everyone had such a blast with filming this and even a Good Will Hunting spoof which literally makes me laugh every single time. You tend to forget you are watching a movie with this one, because, at least for me, it seemed like I was there the whole way making fart jokes and one-liners with these fellas!
