A few months ago I started writing down my top 10 films by year. Have not seen a lot of list threads around here but I figured I would start one anyhow. ;) I'll start with 2012 and work back. May need to trim it down or re-watch some films after the 2000's, we will see.

2012: There may not have been any films I will consider all time greats in 20 years but there were a ton of solid re-watchable films in 2012. This may end up being my favorite year since 1994. Honorable mentions: Django Unchained, Oslo:August 31, Beasts Of The Southern Wild, The Hobbit, and Cloud Atlas.

10) The Avengers

The perfect popcorn movie. Not life changing, just fun. The kind of movie I can't wait to watch with my two boys.

9) The Master

Amazing visuals, great dialogue, and 3 unbelievable performances. Just another run of the mill PTA production.

8) Moonrise Kingdom

Never really enjoyed a Wes Anderson movie till this one. Absolutely delightful. Will definitely cause me to re-watch Rushmore and The Royal Tenenbaums this year to see if my tastes have changed, or if Moonrise is just that much different then the others.

A very entertaining procedural, with the best last half hour of any movie in the last two years. Bigelow is the Queen of this genre right now.

6) The Dark Knight Rises
https://encrypted-tbn2.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcTpgNOm58BrclKn3ny4BnMTXhCv-NNDyf3H6LxrrUbgf9zfMWd7

A great ending to a near perfect trilogy.

5) Silver Linings Playbook

Time travel done right. Smart without trying to trick you, and keeps the characters more important than the device.

Thumbs up for The Dark Knight Rises and The Master but i personally thought ZDT and SLP were quite average.

seanc
03-11-13, 06:26 PM
I can see that Camo. ZDT was so good in the last third for me it trumped any problems I had with the pacing at the beginning. I really loved the characters in SLP, it fell into a couple of rom-com tropes at the very end but still was stellar I thought.

#1 Movie Of 2012:

Lincoln:

https://encrypted-tbn2.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcT6oHdkpUOlukI3RIYLRZHI1-bqcuytfn8t6i_Lh0GtIUb9qnvZ

To be honest I was expecting this film to be a disaster. One of the greatest actors of all time working with one of the greatest directors of all time on a movie about one of the most iconic figures in American history. Seemed like a perfect storm of over hype, but it turned out to live up to every bit of the hype and my anticipation. Except for maybe two scenes, I wouldn't change a thing. Perfectly shot, perfectly cast, and the most under rated screenplay of the year. Lincoln is the best of 2012, and in my opinion it wasn't even close.

2011: A top heavy year in my opinion. There are only 4 or 5 movies that I love, and a handful of others that I enjoyed. No honorable mentions as this would be a year that I would probably only consider 5 or 6 "favorites".

10) Hugo
https://encrypted-tbn0.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcQAEftATczL_-pSF-YAAofkcFjBJVVy_ykRl5sMu2PJ3pg6gGgjkw

I am not usually a fan of children's live action films but found Hugo enjoyable. The visuals and Kingsley's performance the key components in my enjoyment.

9) Win Win

A fairly average drama, elevated by Giamatti.

8) The Artist

Certainly a novelty film. But one that came along at the right time and has really good performances. Magic in a bottle.

7) Rise Of The Planet of The Apes

Intriguing story with great dialogue and great acting. If Lonergan ever figures out how to close a film up I will have a new favorite director.

4) Moneyball

https://encrypted-tbn2.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcRXfao3m_9uUZWgqdLS_BX97gl_FBOpJcfgKi-xFxmzCb_u8mPz0Q

Sorkin dialogue in a baseball flick. Moneyball was tailor made for me, so I was pleased when plenty of the non-baseball crowd enjoyed it as well.

3) The Descendants

https://encrypted-tbn2.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcQakP_GiD4oYOz125tRLMAwPqh8ruZvQMpsJ4X4_vQmxqnqQrRqVA

I love the style and tone of this film. Refn sets the tone immediately with the opening sequence. We feel like we know our protagonist before he even says a line of dialogue. Every character is drawn and acted beautifully. This may be my favorite ever performances by both Brooks and Perlman. Drive is a great movie.

It usually takes me a few years to catch up on all the films for a particular year so tough for me to make these kind of lists right away, and most of what you've listed I've not yet seen.

Anyway from the 2012 films you've listed I loved The Avengers and really enjoyed Moonrise Kingdom. Looper I really liked initially but quickly began to sour in my mind. Will need a repeat viewing to see how I really feel. Others I personally loved included Chronicle and The Raid. Oh and Searching for Sugar Man which I just watched would be up there.

From 2011 I loved Rise of the Planet of the Apes and The Descendants. Liked The Artist but have to say I was rather disappointed in Drive. Immensely stylish and cool no doubt but I found it rather hollow. Definitely due a rewatch someday though. I found 2011 to be a pretty good year actually with the likes of X-Men First Class, 13 Warriors, Submarine, Senna, Limitless, Conan O'Brien Can't Stop and Take Shelter. Oh and I just adored The Muppets

I'm enjoying the lists, keep them coming.

George Clooney gave a top 3 2011 performance, IMO. Just you liked the movie though.

Thanks for the feedback guys. Jay Dee I can't wait to see Sugarman need to put at the top of my netflix que. Haven't seen a couple you mentioned from 2011, I need to watch Senna I have heard good things about it. Have never heard of Submarine I will check it out. I did enjoy X-Men First Class, but didn't love it.

Rauldc, I liked Clooney, but I always do. Maybe I am just too used to seeing him as these others stood out more.

2010: This was a really great year for movies. Quite a few that I know I will be talking about and re-watching for many years. You know a year is deep when your trying to squeeze movies into a top 10. As evidence I present my honorable mentions: The King's Speech, The Town, and Blue Valentine.

10) Biutiful

https://encrypted-tbn1.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcQaHWAqPir92LY_-lAXTgLCww4YsathLPpp0Z7eWiU4xbGsCKwexw

4

A really dark, rich film. Lost me in the last half hour or would be much higher.

9) Winter's Bone

https://encrypted-tbn2.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcQ0gJt0TnQiPPjfttkjnbBBPwaELYENgiH9N5RSTQCy5i23aUEjbw

Chilling, mesmerizing, melancholy. That about covers it.

8) 127 Hours

4

Not one I will revisit much, but stayed with me for a really long time. Even longer than 127 hours. Get it. ;)

7) Toy Story 3

https://encrypted-tbn2.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcSVJgzcDMRmohJKIDGTcOYh-AmNRj-wf6WTLz-59hLmSq6wkfCbjw

4

Animation doesn't do it for me like it used to. However the Toy Story franchise knows how to push all the right buttons.

6) Certified Copy

https://encrypted-tbn3.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcSPFRGe0ZVYcMWZgMEzz9hYod_6VAQweoAoiUnjTvTfCsanlRETMw

4

I have seen 3 Kiarostami films in under a year, and he has become a director that I can't wait to see what is next. The way that he allows the dialogue to advance the narrative while still weaving in plenty of intrigue is unparalleled and beautiful.

5) Inception

https://encrypted-tbn3.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcRwZwBsJhLlDpIpkUvjjfJy9xRj83s0sjEb_zU8DW-mkQ3PVIbRNA

Smart and stylistic. After three viewings I still love it.

4) Exit Through The Gift Shop

https://encrypted-tbn1.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcSHj3CcHAATYpx8CupKSxzueNl0BwzJrfgeEZbIShf4tBkqkuvLPA

This one surprised me with how much fun it was. The last half is absolutely phenomenal.

3) The Fighter

Everything I want a movie to be. Well written, well acted, emotional, and entertaining.

2) True Grit

https://encrypted-tbn1.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcSUAaTZ2uh5iG0QZb_qa0QaV7F1VlalxmanCYOnHVnUdphL30DY

Immediately became my second favorite western behind Lonesome Dove. The Coen brothers are simply in a class of their own. A perfect movie.

Some thoughts

2012- I think a lot of these choices are overrated films, but it's good to see Moonrise Kingdom. Have you seen Argo? If so where is it?

2011- The only ones I haven't seen are A Speration and Margaret, from the 8 I've seen I liked 7, excluding The Artist. Drive is certainly a worthy number 1 pick.

2010- haven't Certified Copy or Toy Story, the rest of them I liked. True Grit was my favorite from the year.

seanc
03-17-13, 12:56 AM
Speaking of overrated, I think I'm the only person who disliked Argo. My BS meter just went through the roof while watching that film. When I researched and found I had good reason for it to go off, that made me even more out than I already was. I'm down for an unrealistic thriller, just not when your passing it off as history.

seanc
03-17-13, 01:01 AM
It's entirely possible 2012 will sour with time. These films are still fresh in my mind, but of course that can't be helped. Only the years and revisits will determine that. I had a fairly easy time ranking them though, these are the 10 that made the best first impression.

Negatively called the facebook movie. After three viewings I feel secure in saying it is so much more than that. 2009: Some solid films with a couple of standouts. Strange list for me in that there are 2 true popcorn thrillers and 2 comedies in my top 10. Honorable mentions: Crazy Heart had phenomenal performances, My Sister's Keeper not usually the schmaltz I go for but solid, Precious was disturbing and heart wrenching.

10) The Taking Of Pelham 123

Not keen on Social Network but I must say while they're not exceptional films it's awesome to see Taking of Pelham 123, The Men who Stare at Goats, and World's Greatest Dad in the top 10. I also like Moon, Avatar, and The Hangover but those get enough recognition.

Not much to say about Tarantino that has not been said. Bastards has two extended scenes that are among the best scenes ever in a film. I could sit and watch the opening scene and the bar scene at any point independent of the film and be enthralled. Second to Pulp Fiction for me, but a very close second.

2008: I really like the top 8 movies on this list, even if most of them do have some obvious flaws. Number nine and ten are good stories with really good acting, even if they don't have the entertainment value or emotional grip of the others. No honorable mentions.

10) Milk

https://encrypted-tbn1.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcROWegRiG-qs6azi-fRTapWY4m47nCjKQvpLWgL3HNVCqlbHtkpBQ

3

Great Penn performance in an amazing true story.

9) Doubt

https://encrypted-tbn1.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcTJRYGVlnTrAMMNYqG4M5-dwmj67lFLbiKe8oUL_l1Yzv_2s8Xf

3

Great performances in an interesting story. There is something missing from Doubt that I could never put my finger on, that kept it from being great.

8) Appaloosa

https://encrypted-tbn1.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcSjormWD5cZm_6dEAvZCSWapXviDMZNxzqtvGkrY-wBTPUvGIKlcA

3.5

A really under rated western. Then again I am a sucker for westerns.

7) Taken

https://encrypted-tbn2.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcSePG6uJaMUF3ytLNumMDHpOzZwOEGU05HEY605KfXCcnICb0wM

3.5

A really gripping, intelligent thriller featuring an especially bad ass Neeson.

6) Burn After Reading

May not be the Coen's best film, but it is an sharp entertaining film full of great characters.

5)The Hurt Locker

https://encrypted-tbn0.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcShlDFjE5mvpxtMxFMDo6d2e-cMddBBmO2PX44PCcll4VnMLJ0v

I maybe never have felt the tension of a film like my first viewing of The Hurt Locker. It holds up as a very good if not great war film.

4) Iron Man

https://encrypted-tbn0.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcSUecEDkr6GpIkmS8fgs1ug9f2mvPUdU3A-KJTt3rzX6-jfGbqE

What a great year for comic book films. Make me realize if done right they can be not only as entertaining but as good as any other genre.

3) Revolutionary Road

https://encrypted-tbn0.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcTRZRdtBUhm_7LmOoBdIiNhw4wuNguswkVwQttxKjxNY_kwYTRYzA

I consider the original Rocky a great film. This one a really good film. The rest sub par but entertaining, what I refer to as Saturday afternoon couch movies. My only issue is it was made about 10 years late which only amplified the unbelievability factor.

7) Casino Royale

I think I'd give Munich like a 2.5 one of Spielberg weaker films. I thought stylistically it was to plain, and entertainment wise it was mediocere. The acting worked though. But yes 2005 was a weak year, Cache is my favorite, and then King Kong and Oliver Twist was good. The rest

Ill see Cache soon.Have seen my first two Haneke movies in the past 6 months, so I will be checking out more. Disliked King Kong. Can't imagine liking Oliver Twist but maybe.

I'd take any of these.

Mr & Mrs. Smith
March Of The Penguins
Assault On Precinct 13
Sin City
Fever Pitch
Mindhunters
Land Of The Dead
The Devil's Rejects
Must Love Dogs
Four Brothers
A History Of Violence
Brokeback Mountain
The Descent
Match Point
Mrs. Henderson Presents
V For Vendetta
Stoned

While a good number of people would also offer some of these, I'm sure.

The Proposition
Jarhead
Transamerica
Cry Wolf
The Constant Gardener
The Jacket
The Beat That My Heart Skipped

I have probably seen half of these. I did not like Sin City at all. First half of History Of Violence was good but that film fell apart in my opinion. I should have def checked out Brokeback Mountain by now, so that is a fail on my part. Some here that maybe I will check out. I hate horror, and its not a genre I feel I need to subject myself to anymore to know I wouldnt like a certain film. Thanks for the suggestions Donnie and Hk, def a few here to check out.

2004: A solid year. Lots of fun movies which is cool. Lots of repeat viewing here.

10) Sideways

https://encrypted-tbn2.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcQHSWF4fj6TU-v-JPRThigg_mpOoyTTILozf9_FnhVAaHMWTF2wqQ

Quirky drama with two great performances by the male leads.

3.5

9) Miracle

https://encrypted-tbn3.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcRVP2ql8CcoUnwVn7Ze3KFy9gz53X11jZkj2AzB_H6FAUTX6hgs

Straight forward, well done, inspiring true story.

8) Spiderman 2

https://encrypted-tbn2.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcRPOpmhq8IKZt5yk1GscUH45dr4TPvG3Z1268AAokMFdVqdOgfO

The rare very good super hero sequel. In fact outside of Nolan's world I can't think of one.

3.5

7) Bourne Supremacy

https://encrypted-tbn0.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcRKIS9ERm-UKh0h1VtSNwRpwcCbPfxnWain6kGRK05r02Ioo8dV

Another sequel, another action movie. Rare year for my taste in film.

3.5

6) Napolean Dynamite

https://encrypted-tbn1.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcTHMOQ_-VP6OE2gjN6PFHmHcsS8BDr3VEj_RzbQkZgY27s5oPpb

I don't know what is more surprising. How much I enjoyed this film initially, or how well it has help up for me on subsequent viewings. Still quoting this goofy thing.

4

5) Anchorman: The Legend Of Ron Burgundy

https://encrypted-tbn2.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcQzd8UceyFQ5-vdDLnFL358Xl79DvOsH04tL9q8r_pZNYQXYKukig

Speaking of infinitely quotable comedies.

4) Eternal Sunshine of The Spotless Mind

https://encrypted-tbn1.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcRCFrl_e_M9vNohqRBXsmocE87VQBKbUyIvPG2wDj0GcDyHNp-2hg

4.5

3) Man On Fire

https://encrypted-tbn1.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcQiGmX_MfjHojmoFAGcAtVd3LE5xxqhT47qQ_GcihUUWQxs8RC_

One of my favorite thrillers ever. Lots of movie build tension, lots of movies tug at the heart strings. Few movies do both so well.

4.5

2) The Aviator

https://encrypted-tbn2.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcTeXF_symzP1z5WWE6-WPB0hSDJToTbaSVGZAtLVkOewaY3rucDjQ

A truly great biopic by Scorsese. Equally great performance by DiCaprio.

Oldboy is great. Just saw it for the first time this year so it could become a 5 for me. I rarely give a movie a perfect score on first viewing, in fact I can't think of one. For me perfect films have to resonate with me for some time and hold up on multiple viewings. I would recommend American Splendor and Elephant to you, very relevant films, I don't think you would be disappointed.

My sensibilities for Anderson's films have truly evolved. He has written some of the greatest characters of the last 20 years, and his visuals are outstanding. Tenenbaums, Rushmore, Moonrise, put those three up against any directors best three.

The beginning and probably the best of the trilogy. As I have stated, maybe more than any other franchise I feel these films need to be taken as a whole. I don't think there is any denying there technical achievement. On top of that they are just plain awesome in every way.

Well no surprise to find I fully support that choice! :D Love the Lord of the Rings flicks. Also a big fan of Amelie, Monsters Inc and the wonderful Zoolander. I truly believe that the walk-off is one of the classic scenes of the 00s.

Oh and Will Smith's performance in Ali is incredible. :yup:

I'm with you on Men of Honour being very underrated. Always been a favourite of mine. Finding Forrester is a nice little film as well.

And like you I'm a huge fan of Remember the Titans. I also was very taken by it right from the first viewing. An interesting story about a troubling time, some great performances and a wonderful soundtrack.

Though as you'd be able to tell from my latest review I would definitely have to have Unbreakable in there somewhere.

Boo!

Unbreakable, Nurse Betty, Erin Brockovich, Requiem For A Dream, Chopper, Ginger Snaps, Charlie's Angels, Battle Royale, Final Destination, Hollow Man, The Year Of The Gun, Book of Shadows: Blair Witch 2, Brother, The Claim, The Gift, The Little Vampire (I know, but I like it.) Miss Congeniality, (ditto :D), Pitch Black, The Perfect Storm, Small Time Crooks, 13 Days.

And some I either haven't seen or don't like that others do.
Dancer In The Dark, Magnolia, Best In Show, Before Night Falls, The Cell, Girlfight, High Fidelity, In the Mood for Love, Italian for Beginners, Quills, Shadow of the Vampire, Snatch, Traffic.

Any of those come close to making your 10? I purposely left of those that JD had already mentioned, but I wonder if they came close too?

Magnolia is '99, because that makes my top ten ever. A lot you mentioned I have not seen.

Those I liked: Brockovich, Best In Show, Snatch

Those that are ok: High Fidelity, Perfect Storm, Miss Congeniality

Those I hated: Charlie's Angels(sorry), Quills, Final Destination, Hollow Man, Pitch Black, Unbreakable, Nurse Betty

Side note: Blair Witch is one of the worst movies I have ever seen so I hate two by default.:D

I really need to watch Gladiator again sometime soon. When I first saw it I loved it but not seen it for nigh on 10 years probably. In that time it has soured in my mind but I think that's more to do with hearing so much negativity surrounding it, especially on this board, which has sort of brainwashed me! :D

I'd recommend taking a look at them. 2000 is close enough to the 90's for a lot of mainstream Hollywood cinema to be good. :D

 Man, 00s cinema is like the Lord of the Rings films with you; you never pass up a chance to take a little shot! :D Why exactly do you have such a problem with films of the 21st century in large? Do you think its the studios not taking chances? Is it a lack of directors with vision? Is it trends at the box office determining the direction of films? Is it just the way it is with little explanation as to why?

seanc
05-29-13, 08:20 PM
1999: You start getting more than 10 years away from films and it starts getting harder to remember what you really loved and which films are just more fond memories. I will do top 10 at least through '94 and then probably do top 5 lists until doing a top 15 for the 80's and a top 15 for the 70's. I was born in '76 and really started watching a lot during my high school years before becoming addicted to movies and watching everything I could get my hands on after graduating in '94. Probably one of the reasons '94 is my absolute favorite year for movies. '99 was great, really strong 10 films.

I did. I can think of at least two other friends I know who did as well. :D However, the thing I really liked about this film was that, even though I'd guessed it very quickly (pretty much as soon as it happened) the film convinced me I was wrong, which meant that it wasn't until the restaurant scene that I was certain.

Love the whole Toy Story series and Being John Malkovich. :yup:

I'm curious to watch The Sixth Sense again. I think I've only seen it once from start to finish and that was shortly after its release so it's a long time ago now. The only thing I really remember now is the twist so will be interested to see how I find the whole film. Picked the DVD up recently after watching Unbreakable and being put in the mood for it.

Absolutely love Man on the Moon. :yup: Always been a big favourite of mine with a truly remarkable performance from Jim Carrey.

And I love with all my heart The Matrix. I thought it was the COOLEST THING EVER!!! when I was 13 years old and still kind of do. :D I recently rewatched it for the first time in a few years and loved it even more than I remembered. Sorry to tell you HK but that's going to be zooming up my new top 100 list. :p

:nope::D

It's not that I don't enjoy them... Well, not the first two, anyway, it's that I don't love them. The first one's ok for about an hour and, while I liked the second a lot more, it's still not anything special to me. However, they weren't a part of my childhood, so I don't even pretend to have the same connection to them that so many other people do. You probably feel the same way about them as I do Convoy, Jaws or Dawn Of The Dead. :D

Saw this film for the first time less than a year ago, and it was love at first viewing. The tragedy of the relationships in this film are what cause me to connect with it so much. The acting and dialogue are other worldly.Yes, I even loved the musical interlude and the frogs. Immediately one of my all time favorite films.

One thing I have learned making these lists. I either think Spielberg strikes out or hits a home run. I don't love many war movies, this is one of the few. Perfect film.

A few enjoyable films on the list (Something About Mary, Waterboy, Rushmore), one I didn't get whatsoever (Big Lebowski), a couple I've been meaning to watch for a long time (Rounders and Out of Sight) and two of my absolute favourites. Saving Private Ryan is just epic (can't remember if you were about for my review of it) while I absolutely adore The Truman Show.

I've also got a few other personal favs - The Faculty, Enemy of the State, Rush Hour, Dark City, Mask of Zorro, The Wedding Singer, The X-Files etc. Oh and Pleasantville is excellent.

Along with taxi and home fries

Taxi is a pretty good and occassionally funny French comedy, which is reason alone to see it as that's pretty rare. I can understand why someone might not like Home Fries, it's slightly odd and mean, but I like that and Drew's just so sweet at its centre.

I'm not sure which you've not heard of, but just in case you're not aware of these, I'll list a few others for you. Le Diner de Cons, I Went Down, The General, Pi, A Simple Plan, Hillary And Jackie, The Bird People In China, Elizabeth, Kurt & Courtney, My Name Is Joe, Simon Birch, Celebrity, Central Station, Little Voice, Lover's Of The Arctic Circle, Love Is the Devil: Study for a Portrait of Francis Bacon, Zero Effect and Small Soldiers might be worth your time, as well.

I know most feel that way about Ghost Protocol, I don't know if I was in a bad mood or what but I did not enjoy it in the least. The bldg climb, the sandstorm, jeremy renner in the duct work, and especially the suitcase scramble. It all did nothing for me.

Hey! I finally got one on there. :)

Feel free. You learn as much from what someone doesn't like as much as what one does. I'd already assumed that the horrors wouldn't be appreciated. :D Are the rom-coms the others?

seanc
06-29-13, 12:45 PM
Actually have not seen any of the horror besides Scream which I hated. Yeah most of the rom-coms as well as Twister, Broken Arrow and Midnight. In fairness I don't watch many horror or rom-coms since being divorced a couple of years ago. I already know going in they are really gonna have to work to win me over, so I usually just stay away.

As you probably know, I ****ing hate Braveheart and I've just didn't 'get' Get Shorty. Apparently, it's really funny, too.

Se7en, Babe, Before Sunrise and Mr. Holland's Opus, though.

Clueless is a def guilty pleasure movie for me, pretty funny. I like Casino and Heat of course. Quick And The Dead is a really good western. You will be happy to know that I find Boys On The Side to be pretty solid. Showgirls, seriously? Films don't get much worse than that.

Also La Haine on the agenda for fourth of July weekend as you have mentioned it before, so I will put it in my review thread.

Once you get past Brad Pitt's performance I thought 12 Monkeys was way over rated, however have not seen it since it was released on DVD so might be worth a re-watch.

The Usual Suspects would have definitely been on there, but I re-watched during the winter and wow did I have a different experience than the first time. The ending still rules but everything else is not good in my opinion. Bad dialogue, bad score, and the plot holes, my God the plot holes.

1994's such a good year that, with the exception of Wyatt Earp which I only watched while half asleep on night, I have no problem with the rest of that list. :)

Normally, I'd now list all the movies I wonder if you'd considered, but seeing as there's an entire thread devoted to 1994, I shan't.

What I will say, however, is that Showgirls is great fun.

1994 truly is a ridiculously great year. And you've nailed many of the greats there. While the order may be a little different Shawshank, Pulp Fiction, Forrest Gump, Lion King, Dumb and Dumber and Ed Wood would all be in my top 10 as well. And I personally would also have to have Speed, Leon, Heavenly Creatures and The Crow in there as well. All films that would be in or around my top 100 of all time. In fact 8 of them would probably be in my top 60 or so
