Question for Long time Members!

Site appears to be around 13 years old now, going by the date of some of the older threads. My question is;

Has the forum ever been busier in the past than it is now?

If it is busier now would you say there has been a steady increase in users over the years or does it always hover around the same?

If the forum use has declined however, when would you say it was busiest?

I'm mainly talking about actual forum members here as opposed to site traffic.

Just wondering out of curiosity nothing more.

I would think it is probably a little busier than when I joined. But the MoFos back then were cooler than this crowd. Many of them were banned.

The only real definitive metrics I have a lot of data on are traffic and posted items. By posts, 2010 was our busiest year, for sure. Both 2011 and 2012 were quite good by the site's historical standards, and were roughly identical (2012 saw a slight uptick from 2011). And so far 2013 is on pace to finish higher, though it's early, and the fluctuations can be highly seasonal.

'06 and '07 were significantly slower than the site's other years (expept for the first couple, obviously). But since then we haven't had a bad year. There've been pretty good ones and downright great ones (like '09 and '10) but there's been a clear plateau we haven't dropped below since 2008.

So, to answer your question, yes, it's been busier before than it is now, and that was largely in 2010. But from what I can tell it had more to do with users posting a lot more, as opposed to their being many more of them.

Juno was around for the summer and during that time posted like (it seemed) ten thousand posts, much of it about how she was a fifteen year old girl who was an aspiring actress/model and how her dream was to go to Hollywood to become a movie star. I am not going to say the rest of it because it is just too funny.

Here is part of Junogate. But now I see there is more to the story than I know. Because it appears Juno was banned and that wasn't the case after she returned and left again a year later. The part I do know when she returned is pretty wild also, but there must be even more to it if she was ultimately banned.

Maybe she tried to come back a third time as someone else.

Oh, Juno wasn't banned. I didn't know she was using the last name also for user name. She got close to five thousand posts in just three months. What confused me was her dad was banned at some point long after he posted.

That is the funniest thread of all time perhaps. Honestly, when I first came to the site, it was crazy busy. Weekends are pretty busy, but weekdays (and actually especially weeknights) have tapered off.

It really strikes me how convoluted these little MoFo dramas are. They don't seem too crazy, until someone who wasn't there asks about them. Then I start thinking about how to summarize it and I remember that there were a billion little ins and outs that I'd have to actually sit down and map out to describe accurately.
