We will nominate in the same fashion that we always have. Each person will get to nominate 2 films until we get to 32 films (16 members nominees). Once we get to the 32 films, the nomination process will start over and people will get to nominate again. There will be 128 films as per the usual with the last 2 tournaments. Thanks to all, and the nominations may now commence!

Lots of great stuff off limits, but still... decisions decisions...

Ok, I'll go with these first off:

Singin' in the Rain
The Apartment

The films listed in the first post are definitely ALL the ones that are off limits, right? Feels like those two wold have been nominated before somewhere along the line.

My bad people. Work is a killer. We should stop at 128 because the only other way to do it would lead to 256 films, which is a tad bit too much. I wouldn't want movies to have "byes" so I will cut it off at the 128 movie point.

rauldc14
01-07-13, 10:25 PM

there were a few strange coincidences, such as Fargo taking on No Country and a few have their noms against each other as well. Harold and Maude and Saving Private Ryan could be a hell of a match too.

A couple of mine need some minor corrections. It 's Ma Vie en Rose not La and Mother without the The. Just want to make sure people can find it. ;)

Also just to clarify, The Maid is the one from Chile (La Nana) not the American one.

I've seen 28 of these, but can only vote in 3 matches... time to get watching :D

I hope most of these are on DVD. Depending on which versions of each title are intended, I can vote in at least 46 matches as of now.

I've sadly only seen 26 of these. Time to get rolling I guess.

Well, open up a thread to cast our votes. I don't wanna wait until February before I can do that. Let the votes come in until the end of February, if that's what you're going for.

I can vote in 27 of those pairs. All but two of mine are available on dvd (Make Mine Mink and They Might Be Giants are on Netflix instant watch, however). If too many people have trouble finding them I'm willing to nominate new ones (but won't be around until I get home from my honeymoon late next week). By the way, Zodiac Killers is the 1991 Hong Kong film, directed by Ann Hui and starring Andy Lau and Cherie Cheung.

we will be waiting a tad while though, that's for sure. I'd like to see a few of these before anything opens up to voting, and the more people have seen, the better it will be.

anywhosits, there's a couple of films that I wish I would have been smart enough to nominate, but I guess I'll have to wait until 2014 for them.

Can the people who nominated these films help out (to make sure I'm renting the right ones)

Acid House - is this The Acid House (1998)?

Night of the Hunter - which year?

It is sorry for the confusion.

While we're at it, which Split Second, and which Heaven Can Wait?

Thanks! It's the only thing I could find with that title so I thought it must be, but I've nearly watched the wrong films before due to misreading/misspelling/similar titles so thought I'd check.

Can't say it appeals all that much (sorry), but as it's up against one of my picks I thought I'd better watch it.

Hey that's the same reason I'm watching Eyes Wide Open. Even Though it doesn't look intresting to me at all :highfive:

Maybe it'll suprise me though, I have wanted to get into Isreali moves a little.

I know The Night of the Hunter we are looking for is the 50's version.

1943 version of Heaven can Wait as well.

I think there's only one Split Second, but if not, I'd go assuming its the 1992 version.

Thanks, thought it must be but always best to check, right?

I'm assuming Robocop is the 1987 film.

Well, I wouldn't have voted the remake of RoboCop... yes it's the original film.

It's the 1992 version, as Raul said.
